We stayed in the happy daze cabin. 2 couples. The cabins are comfortable. Not large but comfy. We stayed Sunday pm thru Thursday am. We had breakfast at the cabin every day. And dinner at the cabin 2 days. There’s a charcoal grill to use. We rode SxS about 7 hours every day and had lunch on the trails. The trails are great. They vary in technical ability and are fairly well marked. If you’re following the paper map, the trails change over time as areas become impassable so the map is sometimes a challenge. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking on the trails. |||| PROS - very clean 2 AC units one In kitchen/dining/ seating area and one in one bedroom. Both work well to keep the cabin cool. Pass thru water heater. All 4 of us showered and never ran out of hot water. Lots of outlets in the cabin. In bedrooms one on each side of the head of the bed with USB plugs. One set on each side of the foot of the bed and a set of 4 by the window. Also plenty in kitchen There are just enough dishes/pots/pans for a simple meal. No steak knives tho. Stove/oven are gas. They provided 4 towels and 4 washcloths, 1 roll of TP 🧻, one roll of paper towels, a small bottle of dawn dish soap, (which was plenty), and one bottle of hand soap. The bathroom has a shampoo and body soap dispenser that are full. The beds were comfortable. They are thick mattresses (6”) with a memory foam topper (1.5”). They sag in the middle a little. They are on a base that has drawers on both sides for storage. We didn’t notice til we were leaving but a nice feature for staying organized. I went to the small bath house just to see how it was. It was also very clean and nice. Each room has sink, toilet and shower in your own room; it is very private and comfortable. ||||CONS - the cabins and RV area are essentially a parking lot. No trees which I understand. It makes all the RV sites pull thru and I’m sure installing utilities was easier without trees and the area requires less maintenance and one doesn’t have to worry about somebody being inconsiderate and ruining any green areas or trees. I suggest adding landscaping but I understand why one might not want to do it. ||||IF YOU GO - I suggest you bring (or buy- there’s a Walmart in Jacksboro that’s convenient). A couple rolls of paper towels, TP 🧻 , hand towels to use in kitchen - it can double as a potholder if you use the oven, Steak knives if you’re eating anything that needs to be cut, extra trash bags, extra towels if you require a fresh towel every day, charcoal if you’re using the grill. ||||Visit the blind frog cafe - the food and service are delicious and also the El Rey Azteca Mexican restaurant the food and service there are also delicious and the prices are excellent. You can get to them via trails on your SxS if you want. And you won’t be the only one covered in mud. |||| I highly recommend Ride Royal...

Read moreWe spent 3 nights in Redneck Retreat 1. We reserved Redneck Retreat 2 on 04/11/25 but when we arrived on 06/23/25 we were informed that our room had been switched. Our first night of sleep was terrible. The center support for the queen bed is broken so we were tacoed in the bed. For the remainder of our stay my husband slept on the futon, I slept on the bottom bunk bed and our son slept in the bed. The most comfortable bed in the cabin was the futon but I would recommend putting a blanket down or placing a sheet on it as the material is rough and my husband ended up with "rug" burn on his elbow from rolling over in the middle of the night. Also, if you're over 5'5" you won't be able to stretch out on the futon. Both a/c's worked great!! We left the bedroom door open at night because we like to sleep cold but if you close the bedroom door, the bedroom becomes a meat locker!! The bathroom shower is VERY tiny and the shower head is VERY low!! I'm 4'11" and I was almost eye level with it. My husband is 6'4" and his head was above the shower curtain, the water spray from the shower head was just above his belly button and he could barely turn around in the shower to wash/rinse because the shower curtain was constantly clinging to him and there isn't enough room in the shower. There's about 5" of shower curtain in the tub because it needs to be hung higher. The spigot is very flimsy so be very careful when pulling up on the diverter to turn the shower head on. The water pressure is not great either. The fridge and freezer worked great. If it wasn't for the bed and bathroom issues I would've given 5 stars. We left matches, a grill cleaner and tongs in the cabin for the grill but I would recommend bringing a charcoal starter/lighter fluid and lighter with you unless you plan on using match light charcoal. Also bring any seasonings you need for cooking, there are NONE in the cabin. There's plenty of silverware, plates, bowls and coffee cups. The pots and pans were great!! My husband actually wants to order a set but we forgot to write the name of them down. The General Store was very nice and the staff was fantastic!! The wash area takes tokens and it's $3 for 6min. We had a blast riding at Ride Royal Blue and will definitely be back, but will probably seek other...
