Made a dinner reservation for 7 people. We arrived and were sat in a room where there were no other patrons yet and with views to the outdoor seating. We were provided a paper menu with 7 entree options ranging in price from $27-$40 including filet, surf and turf, and crab cakes. Being out of towners, we assumed this was the full menu. After ordering, we noticed every other party being sat around us (including a party the same size as ours) all being provided with trifold plastic menus and being served options including sandwiches and quesadillas. We already had our orders in for appx. 20 minutes but asked the staff why we were provided with a much smaller, more expensive menu. They explained that our party was given this menu because we made a “dinner reservation,” and that it must be specified that you want the “pub menu” in order to get the more extensive and cheaper menu. The employees summed it up to that we were “out of towners” and did not know to specify. They then apologized for their “mistake.” No comps were made to the bill, just offered us a free bottle of champagne. This is terrible, very shady business. It is unacceptable for a restaurant to target tourists and give them a small selection of their most...
Read moreWe traveled off the beaten path to find this place after several recommendations. We were on the bikes looking for some grub and we found it here. The place has a historic feel and story that involves the railroad.
Let’s get into this!
I ordered the Outback BBQ pork. It’s a slow smoked pulled pork sandwich that is everything it’s hyped up to be. Also for an appetizer they have bacon wrapped horseradish stuffed shrimp! You can’t go wrong trying it if you like horseradish it’s very good in my opinion. Kelly got the Big Pluck chicken sandwich and it was amazing too.
We got there late afternoon and they were reasonably busy. It’s a small place that fills up fast and with good reason.
Our server was either overwhelmed or not too happy to see us as it took some time to place an order after waiting a reasonable time we asked to order.
Over all we would definitely go back. The ride alone is very nice and enjoyable as you are tooling through Penns Woods to get there. There is only one paved road in and it ends at the Inn. Inside there is plenty of historic photos and various wild game mounts to see and explore.
If you are ever in the area, stop by. Have a beer and order a plate. If you get tired they have...
Read moreWestline has a lot of history, and the Inn is an integral part of that. I'm originally from the area and though it had been recommended to me by another native I'd never set foot in the place. So when my wife and I came in for a few days we thought we'd stay there. Good choice, especially if you understand what this area is and what it isn't: Its for outdoors lovers, hikers, hunters, fishermen, and the like. Westline itself has no cell service - you've got to use the Inn's wireless access. And while these folks run an efficient operation don't expect room service, quiches and venti-size lattes here. Not taking anything away from the food though - its very good. I had a NY Strip, cooked perfectly, and my wife had stuffed chicken breast. The salads were fresh and garlic bread came out hot and tasty. But the food is not inexpensive so be sure to look at their online menu. Rooms are wood-paneled, comfortable, clean, and ours had an antique dresser and bed. The service was outstanding...we arrived about 10 minutes before the restaurant closed and they promptly served us. Very good waitress - if we needed anything she was right there with it. No question we'd stay...
