Enjoyed our stay at this resort. Kind of old, but the amenities were good for the property. The pool was cold (how can it be cold when it's in the 90's haha!) and a lot of leaves (no net to scoop them with) but with the hot temps in the day it felt great. ||||There are several parks in Lago Vista to visit but you'll need a key to do so. Request it from the check-in desk! Apparently the whole community is governed by a property owners association and they control access to several of these parks.||||We went down to the riverfront at the resort but it was confusing where we were allowed to go. I wanted to go out on the docks and take pics but the dock on the path from the resort was gated, and we weren't sure we were allowed on the property adjacent with open docks (there's a closed-off private property to the east of the path you can't go on, it was the property to the west we weren't sure about). We opted to play it safe. Watch your step along the path, some areas are rough and can be tricky to walk in dark/low light if you want to go stargazing.||||The bed was a bit firm for us but we managed. A softer/larger bed would be better. I think it was a full or queen. Being 6'3" it was compact for me!||||The dishwasher looked to be dated. We did not use it and resorted to paper plates / plasticware mainly due to the stains in the dishwasher. Lime/rust maybe?||||It took up to 5 minutes for the shower to get hot water. And even then the water was barely above lukewarm. I think the hot water heater is on the opposite end of the home so that may account for the long time in getting the water "hot".||||Deer....everywhere! It was wonderful to see. They are not afraid of humans, however. Pay attention to the speed limit in the community, not because of cops but because the deer are literally everywhere! Drive slow!||||You can feed deer (some will eat out of your hand!) but do not touch the fawns/baby deer. You can buy a 40lb bag of Deer Corn from Brookshire Bros grocery for ~$8.50 and they will be your best friend during your stay. ||||It's out of the way (about an hour from Austin airport) so plan with that in mind. When checking in they may give you a list of restaurants, attractions, and things to do. ||||Even with the shortcomings of the room we are already talking about coming back to stay again in the next year or two just to...
Read moreLocation is good, not on the lake, no lake view but easy access to a private community boat ramp about 2 minutes away (no extra charge), Massage 5 min away at "The Island" and the massage is fantastic. Boat parking is available here & if you call ahead they'll book you into a room with a boat spot right outside. Game room has ping pong, air hockey, and pool table. Pool is nice but we have spent a lot of of time on the lake so haven't used it. Boat and jet ski rentals are offered nearly on-site (you can walk there) and if you rented here you could surely use their dock walk back to your room for lunch. It's worth making a reservation for sure. What really makes this place special is the deer. Every evening we find deer outside our back door on the lawn. They're not obnoxious but they're ubiqitous. Some will eat out of your hand with just a little effort to gain their trust. Some of them like bananas & strawberries, most like grapes and all of them like the deer corn they sell in the office. We spent a lot of time on lake Travis but it was certainly fun to play with the deer early in the morning or evening.
This place is in need of updating, it was clean but old, cabinets were a little musty, carpet is a little worn, furniture is outdated, TV's are small, too many mirrors, mirror wall is weird, water pressure is really low in the showers but fine everywhere else. I'm not sure why it has a wet bar next to the but whatever. We liked it here tho, a lot. Beds are comfortable, kitchen worked well for our needs (ate three meals/day here), bathrooms seemed to be updated fairly recently. I'd book here again, it's just charming & we...
Read moreThis place should be shut down. One star is too many to give them! I’ve never in my life stayed in a place worse than this. They make a motel sound like The Hilton. We traveled all the way from the east coast to stay in a literal dump. The carpet was dirty with visible stains, the window curtains had tears in them, and the sliding door blinds had so many missing panels that there was no privacy in existence. But the worst part was the bathroom. They didn’t even attempt to clean it. The tub had brown stains, even on the mat (which they could have just literally replaced if it were too hard to clean), and the shower liner (they didn’t even bother to have an actual shower curtain, just a filthy liner) also was dirty. They didn’t even try. How hard is it to buy new shower liner? You can literally get one at Walmart for $5. Besides that, the keys to the unit didn’t work and we were locked out for hours, as the office was closed. Earlier in the day when we noticed there were issues with the key, we notified an employee and he told us to leave the back door open. We definitely weren’t comfortable with that idea, and he didn’t even try to fix the problem. We called to ask for towels and they said we needed to bring our old towels down to the office before we could receive new ones. This place is a joke. I wouldn’t even go here if it were free or if they were paying me. Literally disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves for offering this to people period. Definitely a health code violation, no question about that. I do not know how they’re still running. I wouldn’t anyone to book anything...
