It would be irresponsible, to say the least, and not address the stay of cleanliness and safety at Sky Forest Escape, managed by Sky View Inn, property right next to the Inn. For the amount of money we paid and the quality of stay this property offered, we could have just stay under a bridge for FREE. To begin, this property is very dated and lack all the amenities of modern rentals. Kitchen was completely dirty, from refrigerator not been able to close all the way, to dirty sink, dirty stove, very dirty oven (which once ON released black fumes), and not to mention all the spider webs above the cabinets and all the dirt that has been piling up for who knows how long. Furthermore, both bathrooms were not clean, had mold, and toilets among showers had to be disinfected by us, the tenants, with our own cleaning supplies, which is very unprofessional for a business not to do prior to renting. Also, be aware that this a multi-level unit, which is not noted on the listing, so you will have other tenants below and you will not be able to do anything after 10 PM even if you watch TV or have a few drinks. Yet, another inconvenient fact about this property not mention or listed anywhere on the website.
Other areas of concern were the living room couch with the pull up bed that had dirty clothes, old food crumbs, very disgusting stains that seen to have been there for years, and ultimately the couch sinks in as you seat, because it is very old and honestly has never been steam clean. Bed sheets looked dated and very unsanitary which presented a huge problem for us, because we had no other option but to sleep on top of the comforters to avoid contact with those old dirty sheets. Additionally, the property had some hazard areas such as lose electrical wiring in the master bedroom and the bottom of the stairs. This is clearly negligence by the management company, the host, and the owners. This clearly represents a huge risk to anyone coming into contact with these wires, potentially creating a fire or electrocuting someone.
I can type an entire book about the issues with this property, which has a great view, but that misrepresents what they offer and misguide the renters by not maintaining this property up to part with current cleaning standards, standards of safety, Airbnb standards, and honestly California Electrical Code. The charge of a cleaning fee is not reflected anywhere in this property which is very sad and very disappointing as us, the consumer, work hard for our money and to feel that we paid this fee to have a good product in return, is honestly a joke at this property.
Lastly, this host needs to have this property thoroughly clean, disinfected, inspected, and honestly, invest in items that have greater functionally for the tenants such as clean sheets, clean towels, clean carpets, clean patio deck, garbage bags, etc….I would not recommend this property to anyone, not even for a free stay, because you hard earn money is going to go to waste and...
Read moreI really wanted to give this place 5 stars. The location, views and rooms are great. However, they have a major issue with parking. When we arrived the very nice lady informed me that three cars needed to park in my area so I “hugged” the edge. We woke up this morning and there was an SUV parked behind us. We had no way out because we had a fence about 7 inches on one side and another car on the other. When we went to tell the lady up front we were then “greeted” with a fellow guest, about 5 minutes later, who came out to move his car behind us. Yes, he intentionally parked behind us when we parked where we were asked to. Upon his arrival to his car he started packing his car up with his suitcases and bags. When I got out of my truck to ask if he could move his car he said “if you ask me nicely” and stated “i could get out if you let me drive”. Now, there’s no way anyone could get out. He continued to pack his car and stayed stagnate as I started backing up. So, I got out and started to take a video (which I would share if requested). It’s sad that I had to get out of my car to video what was happening in order for him to move. Now, here’s the thing. I parked where I was told. He wanted me to “ask nicely” when he was the one blocking me. It’s just so sick. I am a women and had my elderly mom and 2 young kids with me. Oh, did I mention he had a child with him this entire time. So, why am I posting this in the review? Well, one of the statements he made was he was “told” to park there. I don’t know who told him, but if that’s they case it is not a good system. I showed the lady up front the video who also agreed that I couldn’t get out. I wanted to leave on a good note. Instead, I had to have a conversation with my kids about how rude and privileged people can be. I am a woman, he was a man. I wonder if he would had said what he did if I was a man. And, I don’t understand why I’m supposed to ask him nicely when he was the one blocking me. I really think this place needs to do something about their parking situation. We left the victims of a verbal assault while my kids witnessed it. It was...
Read moreThis place has "The View" of the surrounding hillside and valley below. I sat on the deck enjoying the view often during our 3-night stay. My sister, a local gal, recommended this spot for the great weekend breakfast, although our visit was between weekends, so we can't speak for the breakfast fare. The owner/operators were friendly and accommodating, easy to talk with, and happy to help. We arrived a day before renovations on the main building, so after the first night we were graciously upgraded to a 2-bdrm suite in a second building, to minimize construction noise. The first room was a small rustic space for 2, facing a shared deck area with that fabulous view. Comfortable space for 2 people. The lack of window screens may have been because the windows were being replaced the next morning. A nice fan made for comfortable sleeping. The second room was a spacious suite with private deck (again, that view!) and larger kitchen. Both rooms had thoughtfully stocked kitchens (utensils, plates, cups, etc., not food) and adequate hanging/storage space. In both rooms, those tiny "sugar ants" were voracious lil' buggers so we couldn't leave a dirty dish overnight. Dish soap and ant spray were conveniently provided. The buildings are older, the place needs some TLC which is in process. Parking is easy for guests. Location is central to a lot of areas on the mountain. We would stay here again. The whole visit was exactly what we were looking for: relaxing and low-key. Even the construction noise didn't...
