To Charlie, Dylan, John and Darren Thank you for saving our family in so many ways. This once in a lifetime blizzard of 2023 is definitely one for the books. Our hearts goes out to everyone who have lost during this disaster. Thank you for keeping my family safe at your lodge. Thank you for the hospitality and treating us as family while we were “trapped” by the blizzard. We didn’t feel trapped because you all took such great care of us and we were blessed not to be lacking of anything during that time. Our 2 night stay ended up being a 9 day stay and could have been longer if it were not for the kindness and generosity of the general manager who gave us a ride not only down the mountain but all the way home. Our car suffered a catastrophic failure during the blizzard and we literally had no way home. Called every repair shop and AAA. Everyone was stuck and there was no one able to help. Seeing and reading about the aftermath I understand how lucky and blessed we were to have the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge and all the staff there. They kept us safe, very comfortable and fed us well. Thank you Charlie for providing all those arts & crafts for my little girl. All those board games made the time a blast. Thank you John for making those amazing meals. You always seem to read my little girls mind when it comes to what she loves to eat! Thank you Darren for tirelessly shoveling snow so we can have a safe path to and from our lodge. Last but not least, thank you so much Dylan for your generosity and kindness for taking us all the way home.
The UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge is an amazingly beautiful retreat. We wish we could have done more exploring and we are sure to return and return and return. What makes the place even more amazing and a must visit destination are the people. You will not find a friendlier, kind, generous and happy staff than at UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge. Book this place while you can. This place will not be a hidden gem for long.
Thank you and...
Read moreIn the past our experiences at the Lodge with UCLA-affiliated folks have been excellent, or this rating would have been lower. We recommended the Lodge to some friends who wanted to come visit for New Year's. They booked a room and were told there was a buffet dinner for $85. We thought that sounded lovely, food has always been good when we've eaten there in the past. Unfortunately, the buffet was very disappointing. A decent salad, decent turkey breast, awful sad bone-dry overdone swordfish that tasted like pressed protein powder. A prime rib carving station was ok. Service was almost non-existent, we had to get soft drinks at the bar because nobody came to our table for close to 30 minutes to check on us. The dessert choices were a slice of cheesecake (decent, not great) and some little chocolates like you'd get in a Whitman sampler. No wine or drinks included. Very disappointing and not worth it. But what was much worse was that when my friend went to the lodge the following morning to get a latte, she was told at the front desk that since she wasn't UCLA-affiliated, she couldn't go to the area where the espresso machine was. They literally put yellow wristbands on my friend's family, where the UCLA people wore blue ones. I feel extremely embarrassed to have recommended this experience to my friends. And I think it is extremely ill-advised to set up a caste system in this kind of lodging setting. We also found out that the UCLA people had a much fancier buffet dinner up on the second floor. If we had been told this ahead of time, we would not have booked this place. I was really happy to hear that they had opened up the Lodge to non-UCLA people, but I will now be very leery of recommending or visiting it unless I'm with a...
Read moreWe had the absolute BEST time at UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge. I can not say enough amazing tbings about this place. From the beautiful groudns, to the awesome adroable chalet we stayed in to the OUTSTANDING service and staff! There was one staff member in particular thqt reqlly stood out and went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. He rnane is Meghan (dining room) and she is the kind of employee that every place needs to have. She really was a highlight of our trip and made our amazing stay even better; it's staff memebers like her that bring guests back multiple times! We really enjoyed our 3 night/4 day stay. It was our first time but definitely not our last. I am in my third trimester of pregnancy (die in a couple months) and also have a daughter who is almost 4, and found that the resort and accommodations were great for our whole famiky and I had a super easy time getting around the entire place. We loved everything about this place and can't wait to make visisiting a tradition that we hope to repeat every year! It's literally one of the best places my family and I have ever stayed and we...
