We reserved a site here 20 days in advance in hopes of having a great weekend getaway. Far from the truth. This is a terrible camping experience. There is trash everywhere, the dumpsters are in the middle of the 10 sites and they smell horribly. There are screaming children who are off the hook running around uncontrolled. There was actually a woman washing her hair in the river……disgusting. The bathrooms reek and you can smell them from ever campsite. There are dead deer carcasses lying in the woods (we found three of these just behind the site loaded with maggots and rotting in the sun) Avoid this place; it...
Read moreI enjoy the campground, and the camp host is a very nice man. I'd say the only issue is with the day-trippers. They don't seem to have any concept of respecting a camp site, and walk right through, especially site 8, the last one at the campground. We had site 8 once, and made an obstacle course of chairs and tubes, but the day-trippers were clueless despite...

But during a recent stay, day-users (Illegal) took over the campground, which is situated along the river. Dozens of noisy kids cut through campsites to get to the water, float a bit in their tubes, and repeat. And repeat. And repeat. And two small campsites near us were overtaken by LARGE RVs towing a noisy dune buggy and 2 ATVs. Not the peaceful camping experience we expected. Might be better to visit here in early fall. This time of year...
