Our family's stay was over the July 4th weekend. It was a terrible stay in the large lakeside lodge . We found out after check-in that our AC did not work. The resort tried to accommodate us, but they assigned us to a 4-people room that was not prepared for visitors. It only contained a king-size bed and a sofa bed, but it was supposed to accommodate our family of 3 adults, one of whom is 77 years old, and 2 children. Thankfully, my sister's family of 7 was staying in another lodge, and one of my kids stayed with her. The room was missing lightbulbs and had dead bugs on the floor. As mentioned, it was not prepared for visitors. The resort did refund me for the night, so I thought we would just let it go.||However, our shower also did not work during the remainder of our stay. Two employees tried to fix it, but they could not, so they gave us a different room to shower in. ||This is on top of the fact that our window pane that was supposed to provide a lakeside view was fogged over. Apparently, this is a default of the pane, but sadly, this took away our lakeside view.||I delayed writing this review because I tried to reach out to the manager first. The resort's lead reservation liaison, Emma, was responsive, but the general manager never reached out to me to try to compensate for the shower issue. ||There were other problems with the room, but I decided not to mention them because I don't want the review to be overly long. I don't understand why they run the resort the way they do, but changes need to take place.||I also realized from other guests' experience that the AC breaking down is common. One family with a baby was trying to battle the 100+degree weather outside because their AC was broken. This really upset me. Kids are fragile. The unreliability of these accommodations makes this place unsafe...

Read moreThis was my first time visiting this resort, and it was a good experience—even though we came during the 4th of July holiday. Because of the holiday, there was a 3-night minimum stay, and the only site available was Quail's Roost. It turned out to be a nice spot, close to the entrance but quite far from the lake.
The area has some good things, like clean restrooms and private showers with hot water (although the water can get very hot). You can really enjoy being close to nature—waking up to the sound of birds, especially woodpeckers, and even seeing deer nearby. The good thing is that it's quieter and relaxing because it's far from the busy lake area. The only bad part is that it gets very hot in the afternoons.
The store on-site is pricey but has everything you might need in case you forget something. There is also a pool, but it costs $5 to use. It's only open from Friday to Sunday. When I visited, the pool was quite dirty, so if they’re charging for it, they should really keep it cleaner.
The staff was friendly, but if you need help at night, it’s hard to find someone. Also, be aware that they charge a security deposit. They have a noise curfew from 10 PM to 7 AM, and most people respect it—but some don’t seem to care, and the staff doesn’t do...
