My boyfriend took me here for a two night stay in the "Easy Rider" caboose, and it was worth every penny! The owners where extremely sweet, very helpful, and seemed fun, they made us very comfortable. We arrived the first night on the later side, probably around 8:30-9ish, as we stopped to have a meal and a few drinks at the bar (that just happens to be within walking distance, brownie points on that one) and both owners where in the office with a after hours cocktail in a very chipper mood, not minding at all that we had interrupted their hubby/wife down time, they took the time to welcome us give us the lay of the land, showed us the breakfast board and even asked if we wanted something other than what they had planned to prepare, which I found to be a very generous gesture. They even took the time to offer us a selection of a plethora of movie choices as they offered the Wi-Fi info and explained that due to the caboose being a metal box getting a good signal can be tedious, which is good to note if you haven't thought about that. The room.. was perfect! The bed is sooo comfortable, and complete with mirrors on the ceiling and both sides of the bed made for a great bonus. The hot tub was outstanding, you can control the Jets, the air flow, and the pressure, and it's plenty big enough for 3 which made it spacious for two. The caboose even had a viewing room up top with functioning windows and the cutest little motorcycle sitting adjacent. The room comes complete with glass cups, coffee maker, fridge, robes, and slippers.
The only downfall of the entire experience is that the rooms dont the space for a shower, meaning that your hot tub doubles as your shower, it does have a shower head and hose attached, but as an ocd women it just didn't seem right. None the less (and seems how there's literally nothing they can do about the space) it was an excellent stay that I would highly recommend, and look forward to doing again! Everything was beyond my expectations, from the cleanliness of the room to the owners inviting and friendly attitudes. Oh I almost forgot the breakfast, giiirl that breakfast tho! I'm not sure who which cooks but one of those two is a chef! We only made it to breakfast once but it made me regret missing it the first morning. It was mini quiche drizzled with a hollandaise sauce and fried potatoes, unfortunately I have a deep hatered for hollandaise sauce so I stuck to the potatoes, my man on the other hand devoured it all while I admired the chefs plating skills that quickly made me feel like I was slaking on mine. During breakfast we shared a delightful conversation with the owners which turned to talking about how hard the hot tubs are on the insides of the rooms, which led to some inside information that they are planning to redo a few things, and seems how my man is a local cabinet maker the owners asked him to leave his card. So after a perfect stay at a unique and beautiful place, complete with excellent service, the convenience of a bar/restaurant within walking distance, and being just off the lake they threw the cherry on top with giving him the honor of even just considering him to work on such a beautiful local gem of a project! I have literally stayed at hundreds of b&bs, motels, and hotels, from Miami to Las Vegas and this was by far the best experience I have ever had, I've stayed in much more expensive places (even did the sky lofts at MGM Grand where you've got basically an entire floor to yourself) but the Featherbed has officially moved to number...
Read moreI can't praise enough the fantastic and engaging customer service I experienced at Featherbed. This wonderful, non-corporate business is located on the shores of rustic Clear Lake, California. The resort features several train cabooses converted into themed lodgings, each equipped with jetted Jacuzzi tubs for personal use.||On our first night, I had the incredible pleasure of sitting on a deck for hours, enjoying the lake view and the serene environment. Putting down my devices, I identified at least seven different bird calls from various species of waterfowl and enjoyed watching their families swim and feed. I was able to breathe deeply and relax in ways I hadn't for years, all enhanced by the loving and joyous attitudes of the caretakers. We met all four staff members, each providing an exceptional level of customer service and engagement, making us feel like we were in a different world compared to today's corporate-run chains.||The first afternoon, my partner suffered from heat stroke due to forgetting sunscreen. The owners kindly found pain relievers and provided Otter Pops at no charge, their kindness really making our day. They serve complimentary breakfast each morning, not the usual buffet line with cold eggs and old fruit, but a delightful meal served in an actual dining room, making us feel like honored guests.||Featherbed is rustic and quaint, incredibly relaxing, and we will definitely be visiting many times over the years. If you and your family are looking for an affordable and relaxing getaway that evokes the charm, warmth, and family-friendly welcome of yesteryear, this is the...
