Terrible experience at WorldMark Clear Lake!
We were falsely accused and mocked by the night guard and night employee!
In the early morning hours of 5am on Sunday, December 24th, we receive a loud pounding on the door (room 223).
Scared by the sudden noise, I get to the door and ask who it is. I look through the peep hole, and see the security guard there, pacing back-and-forth radioing someone.
My dad, Tim Mori Sr., gets dressed and goes downstairs.
Immediately, the security guard accuses us of loud noise.
We did NOT make any loud noise!
My dad explains to the guard that we were asleep, but the guard would not listen because we “had our room light on.”
After that, the guard said he “heard the television on” by pressing his ear against the door.
If you have to “press your ear against the door,” then how is that a noise violation?! Obviously, the noise can’t be heard from outside!
My dad is disabled. He suffers from back problems and high blood pressure.
After the guard left, my dad couldn’t sleep, and was worried what would happen to his family, having been accused of making noise, when we were not!
An hour after trying to get back to sleep, my dad calls the front desk, and is told by the night clerk that we were making the noise, and that we would not be compensated for the disturbance and false accusations made by the night security guard.
Their “proof” that we were making noise is that our bedroom light was on....!
Again, bedroom lights being on does not mean “noise”!
My dad hangs up on the night clerk, and goes down to the front desk to be sure the employees knew that we were NOT making the noise, and to be sure we were not going to be removed from our room.
The night clerk argues with my dad, telling him that we were making noise on both nights of our stay (Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd).
The clerk also says that he called us both nights about noise.
(We never got any calls! (That’s because we were NOT making noise!))
My dad explains to the clerk that our neighbors in 222 were making lots of noise, but not us.
Once again, the clerk says that our lights were on, so that means it was us making the noise.
My dad is angry and upset with the clerk, telling him it was NOT us, and to remove the bad report on our record that was made.
The clerk says, “No,” and remarks, “If the shoe fits.”
(The “if the shoe fits” remark is a bad attitude for a Worldmark employee, even if a person was guilty.)
My dad is fuming at the way this young night clerk spoke to him, but exhausted, goes back to our room.
No one can sleep the rest of the night!
When the supervisor is there at 10:30am, we go to visit her, and she was very nice about the situation. She said she would contact her manager, who would be out of town until Wednesday, December 27th.
Before getting to the supervisor, we ended up meeting the people of 122, who said they had lodged a complaint about their upstair neighbor guests in 222.
The supervisor told us that 222 was the noisemakers, NOT us in 223.
The supervisor also said that there had been known problems with 222, that they even threatened the security guard.
Why did Worldmark accuse us, if they knew it was 222?!
What is wrong with that security guard and night employee?!!!
We call for action on the security guard’s and night employee’s employment!
Both nights of our stay, 222 had people from midnight - early morning, running up-and-down the outside and inside stairs, knocking on the walls, talking loudly, and stomping their feet.
We didn’t complain about them (as 122 had), but tried to let the security guard and night employee understand it was them, but the would not listen.
Which again, is strange because the night guard and night employee knew it was 222 from the night before (based on what 122 and the supervisor explained to us).
Again, action by Worldmark must be taken to rectify our terribly horrible experience of false accusations, a sleepless night, employee mockery, and for ruining our Christmas celebration we never got to have on...
Read moreWe enjoyed our nice quiet, relaxing two weeks at the WorldMark Clear Lake in Nice, Ca. (which we used as a Timeshare trade--) Happily, there is a grill on the patio of every unit and the kitchens are fully equipped, including oven in the range--as there are very few places to eat dinners out. The "restaurants" that ARE available offer very little in the way of ambiance (formica tables, stacking chairs, paper napkins, etc.). The nicest dinner out we had was at the Robinson Rancheria Casino (a small, quiet one), a 4 minute drive, but their dinner menu was only for Thurs--Sunday, and the atmosphere still lacking ("The Food Hall"). We enjoyed a fettuccini dinner there on a Saturday, and also the fried prawns and potstickers--very good! Groceries are conveniently located nearby (Select Market, 3 min drive); and Lakeview Supermarket and Deli (about 5 minutes drive in the opposite direction--great meats for the BBQ).
We were disappointed that this WorldMark does not offer to share their Wi-Fi (unless you're a WorldMark member)-- you have to order/buy a plan which is offered by the one-day or 10-day for your week (7 day) vacation...three devices for one day $10, but some savings taking the 10 day plan. Connection was strong and quick.
The resort itself is very nice, though in March it was chilly so we did not use the pool or jacuzzi (there's a kids playset area outside, too). There's a fireplace, washer/dryer, TV in bedroom and living area. Beds were comfortable and the rooms quiet. It was like 'home away from home'! We had a nice view of the lake. Staff is friendly and helpful (we had to have our dishwasher replaced--took nearly 4 hours--we were given a bottle of wine and box of chocolates for the inconvenience), check-in and out easy and quick. Free movies to check out in the lobby; there's a pool table, TV and computers available there, too; nice qym. We had come for 'just a getaway' so mostly hung out in our unit (didn't see many nice shops to visit as we drove around but didn't explore the town that's about 20 min drive away). We watched people fishing off the little dock--I guess that's a big thing here at the Lake, but we hear it stinks/smells bad here in the summer months...it was quite pleasant for us in March.
We'd come back again. If you enjoy a quiet place with nothing much to do/see, this will fit the bill. I enjoyed my reading and also got some computer work/play done (projects that just don't get done...
Read moreIt was nice to get out of the house. Don't go expecting old WorldMark due to the coronavirus they've stopped a lot of the hospitality that WorldMark is known for. At one point I think they were using covid-19 to be lazy. Like to use the pool you have to make reservations which was cool. When you're told you have to make reservations to use the pool you think that it'll be you and maybe one or two other groups in the pool but no. Our group was kind of large we had seven, five kids, two adults and when we got to the pool there was a large group of eight or nine plus a couple. Then about 30min into our two hour window another large group walked in with about eight kids and six adults. To me that's not social distancing if you have a two-hour window and you can only yell out x amount of people into the pool then stick to it and do your job. There was other stuff like we called down to the office and ask for dice and they said due to the coronavirus they could not help us. Which in my opinion was an opportunity of lost money for them. What should have been said was due to the coronavirus we no longer provide complimentary dice but you can buy a unopened pack of dice. Then it was other stuff like they have all these people going in and out of the lobby from the pool locking all of the doors including a door to the bathroom. That wasn't well thought out at all it just screams some kids going to have an accident trying to get to the bathroom. If you think you can bypass all the BS with the pool and just rent a boat and get in the lake think again. I don't know what's going on with clear lake's water but it's like a layer of larvae just floating on top water looks extra suspect. We rented a boat to you know take the kids to play in the lake and all the other jazz but the water with all the larvae and I think all the smoke from the glass fire and other fires in the area it looks polluted. Even with all of this we still managed to have a pretty good time like I said it was nice to get out of the house. It's just WorldMark is not the same since covid-19 so all those creature comforts that you expect from WorldMark and you pay for you don't expect to get...
