La Ponderosa Vintage Grain Silo, Lampasas: The Vintage Grain Silo is very cool and interesting. Located a short drive from town. The first thing you notice is the front door, which is vintage Egyptian with keyless entry. The stained glass windows are from overseas ranging from late 1800 to early 1900 and are a beautiful touch! The silo is decorated tastefully. You’ll find stained glass succulents throughout that were created by the owner’s mother in law. Leather couch and two wing back chairs are great for conversations. A tall guy (or girl) can nap on that couch! Little touches like the folded and stamped edge of the toilet paper, and vintage phone table, shampoo and body wash in the bathroom are nice touches. The towel warmer is a toasty bonus! That counter top is gorgeous! There are games, such as dominoes and cards. I think these are great for passing time vs having a TV! Great kitchen with frig, toaster oven, Keurig and French Press. Great coffee, cream and sugar provided. Large, pottery mugs are handmade by the owner’s wife. Just bring pastries for breakfast and you’re set. The lighting on the stairs for nighttime trips downstairs is great! The brands on the stairs were imprinted using vintage branding irons that the owner collected. The Murphy bed in the living room is comfy and would be great for a third guest. Just scan the QR code on the wall for set up instructions. Upstairs queen bed is on the firmer side and very comfy. The property is gated for security and peace of mind. You’ll get a code before arrival. Owner has Barbado sheep on the property, so no dogs allowed. There’s a fire pit with Adirondack chairs to enjoy on cool nights. It’s so peaceful here. Recommended for 2-3 people wanting to get away for some peaceful, quiet time to recharge and relax. Note: no tv but does have WiFi. The silo is air conditioned and has a very large and unique ceiling fan. The owner has left a notebook on the coffee table with instructions for operating the AC and other helpful tips and recommendations for eating out and exploring Lampasas.
The silo gets five stars from me!
