A great respite from the awful chain hotels off rt 95. About 10 minutes (6-7 miles) from the highway, but well worth it. The house itself is beautiful with a steep history to the early 1900's. We stayed in The Red Room, which was spacious with a private bath & great shower. We stayed here 1 night on our southbound commute to our Florida home, thus got up early to head out. For those folks looking to sleep in, the nearby early am freight train may hinder that. Parking was right outside the house which seemed very safe. The food is also a standout in an area that is again, 99.9% dismal chain food. Lastly, but not least, the proprietor is gracious & welcoming

What an amazing historical experience complemented by an excellent breakfast and dinner menu. The accommodations offer a private 6-course dining experience freshly prepared by the chef overlooking the well manicured gardens. My wife was very pleased by her birthday weekend get away. Thanks to the professional and courteous experience from the staff of Abingdon Manor. This was certainly a well kept secret tucked away in Latta, SC worth exploring! I challenge you to find a speck of dust. This immaculate historic mansion is like staying on a movie set. Spacious, beautifully appointed rooms from bottom to top only 10 minutes from I-95. The staff and menu bring Southern hospitality to life! Perfect for a couple's getaway, stop over on your way to/from FL or a corporate event.

I have previously eaten at the Manor, and it was exceptional under the management of Michael and Patty Griffey. My husband and I recently stayed the night and ate at the Manor under the new innkeeper, Pat. We walked inside and were left waiting for over 20 minutes for Pat to appear, so we could check in. Finally, we decided to walk around to see if we could find him. We found Pat in the back hastily stuffing tobacco dip into his mouth. Pat reeked of cigarette smoke, and he was extremely disorganized, disoriented, and unhelpful, overall. The only ones who seemed to know anything about the Manor were our servers. These young ladies were extremely helpful, sweet, and thoughtful throughout the visit. I walked back to the kitchen to ask Pat, who is apparently the chef as well, a question before the main entree was served. Let me tell you about this horror! He describes dirty dishes all over the counters. Pat eating food off of spoons and laying them back in the pot. Food all over the floor. A PUNGENT smell of rotten meat which I can only assume was the steak lying on the counter. I was HORRIFIED. I am shocked this establishment is not crawling with roaches and other bugs with the state of the kitchen. I could not bring myself to eat the entree or dessert. Not to mention, the previous courses were sub-par, to say the least. Not worth my money! It is safe to say, I have never been to a place like this before. My husband and I certainly wish it was still under the previous ownership!!! If Pat keeps this up, he will not have ANY more customers. I...

We returned to Abingdon Manor because of our first visit several years ago. |On arrival we first noticed the house was dull. Everything needed painting, at the very least cleaning thoroughly. The beautiful house just looked dull. | We sat and waited for someone to arrive to check us in. 15 mins after our appointed arrival time our ‘host’ arrived, and explained that he forgot to put the AC on in the rooms ( at the height of summer(!) and rushed off to do so, leaving my husband and I and two other couples waiting again. | Pat, the new owner reeked of smoke … and his lackluster attempt to give us a history of the place ( while the AC kicked in upstairs) was given like a teacher who’d rather be at home. | The room was lovely, with new bathroom. But the air conditioner with its hose hanging out the window was as noisy as a cheap hotel. | The 6 course meal was a good try…..but nothing my high school kids couldn’t put together. | Two young girls serving were very sweet, but so inexperienced for the manor that we visited years before. | Breakfast was an audible gasp from all. Scrambles eggs, burned bacon, and badly cooked hash browns. That’s it. Before we had Crab Eggs Benedict with stuffed mushrooms et al. | One last thing. A cocktail gathering was set for 6:30pm. No one showed up!!!!| Everyone attended this during our last visit. The hosts were wonderful and interactive. | We never saw Pat again until it was time to pay $$$$ | Very sad. The house has so much to offer, and in the right hands could be a...

Our journey to explore beaches along the Atlantic coast was interrupted by Hurricane Dorian & mandatory evacuation orders. We were forced inland and — thanks to our Tesla leading us to a place with a destination charger — we spent a glorious few days with proprietors Mike and Patty Griffey at Abingdon Manor in Latta, SC. We were their only guests during our stay because the hurricane had led others to cancel trips. It turned out to be a high point of our trip. We have stayed at many lovely places during our travels, but this one certainly ranks among the very best. Gourmet chef Patty was not accustomed to cooking for vegans, but she rose to the occasion spectacularly. We had three delicious dinners and three amazing breakfasts very graciously and attentively served by Mike — all with splendid table service and in multiple courses. Despite their worries re: whether we’d suffer a power outage and about what was happening to their friends in the Bahamas, they took extremely good care of us. We felt treated like high royalty! We were very comfortable in the downstairs master bedroom — not bothered at all by the train whistles. We didn’t experience a need for the thoughtfully-provided ear plugs. We appreciated the extra-lux massage we got from Rebecca — who made the extraordinary effort to come and treat us despite hurricane worries. We will be looking for any excuse to...
