Read moreI reserved two hotel rooms three months ago for the Labor Day long weekend. Our party has 4 adults and 2 kids. When reserving, I did not realize it was an adult only hotel. In the special comment session, I did explicitly write down that I need one pack and play for the baby while my other kid has certain food allergy. In the early morning of the check-in date, I received a phone call from the hotel, telling me that since they do not accommodate kids, my reservation has to be canceled. When I questioned the lady on the phone why she canceled my reservation at the very last minute, while I already mentioned I have kids in the special comment three months ago, the lady on the phone literally started calling me âMAKING A LIE DURING RESERVATIONâ to book her hotel rooms. She hung up my phone abruptly later when I was still talking.
I spent more than 600$ to pay the first night fee during reservation, and apparently the hotel will not refund it given their polices. The lady on the phone angrily blamed me for her lost revenue while she ignored my special comment for kids all the me time until on the check-in date.
I had high hopes for Abendblume due to its high review ratings. It turns out the hotel has changed the owners several years ago and everything has gone downhill. I am so shocked by their rude, careless and arrogant attitude in hospitality. As a member of local parent community, it is now on the black list for our getaway nights.
Update1: The owner responded with false information, thus I want to reiterate one fact: I have informed the hotel that I have kids when reserving the hotel, which is THREE MONTHS before the check-in date! In the check-in morning, the lady canceled my reservation over the phone BEFORE I mentioned anything about the kids. I guess that was the first time she finally paid attention to my...
Read moreI've seen a few negative reviews on here and I'm not sure why, but I guess sometimes the smallest thing is a major inconvenience to some.
No Kids: One of the things I love most about this B&B is that it doesn't allow kids. I'm 41 and don't have kids of my own, so it's nice not to have to hear your knucklehead kids screaming up and down the halls because you don't want to have to control them. In fact, they don't want adults to be noisy or obnoxious either.
Friendly: I saw a few reviews about the staff not being friendly, in fact I've stayed here twice and I always get into conversations with the owner or her family or helpers and they are extremely friendly. As a POC something you don't know how you'll be treated in rural environments. They made me feel welcome and wanted. You know who's not always friendly; the guests who are sometimes needy, emotional, and obnoxious.
Amenities: I get out and hike a lot when I visit, an average of 12 miles plus walking around town to go eat or look at stuff. The town itself is fine, but Abendblume is perfect if you want to stay there, relax, and enjoy the lovely scenery.
Rooms: The rooms are charming, but I don't want to stay in them all day. I do feel like I need a little more space when I share it with my girlfriend and our luggage, but that's less of an issue with the hotel and more of a factor of the amount of stuff we bring with us when we travel because we hike a lot.
I plan to stay here again in the spring or summer because AB has exactly the environment I want to relax in on my vacation. Sometimes I wish I could stay here for a few weeks without other guests being present. I guess...
