After reading great reviews of this place, I really expected more. I hate to be the first to downgrade this B & B, but I try to be honest for others.||The drive up to the SE was pleasant, and we were greeted by the owners. This is a nice touch. I also must say that they accommodated us for a one night stay despite the requirement that a weekend stay needs to be two nights. We appreciated this.||The SE is a pleasant place, good atmosphere, nice grounds. ||||We got to our room,,it was kinda smaller than what we imagined, but this was ok. We just wanted a good night's rest and enjoy our time away from the city. It was hard to turn around some in this room,,my wife and I had to watch our step to stay out of each other's way. No comfortable place to really sit except on the bed. Only had one cushioned chair and it took up valuable room. Plus, it right next to the noisy heater (see below!). The sitting room/library outside our door was not private enough for us.||||We were surprised by the electric heater in our room. It is a decorative, faux log burning electric heater. It was definitely needed as it is still cold up in Leavenworth. But, this heater was so loud when it was in the 'on' position. But, we couldn't leave it off,,it got too cold. But, we knew we couldn't sleep with it on. So, we just bundled up and tried to sleep. Sorta was ok, but this noisy heater is so obvious. I couldn't believe it was for this tiny room and so close to the bed,,it's noise couldn't be ignored. (we should have said something, but I am not sure what could have been done for this situation).||We wanted to sit in the nighttime air in the hot tub, and we asked about it's service upon checking in. We were told it might/might not be working. That it had been serviced recently, but might still be not working properly. So, later, we walked out and picked up the lid,,,and the water was barely lukewarm. Again, we should have inquired about this, but who wants to be asking so many questions on their time away. Shouldn't have to, all should be working. If a hot tub is advertised, we should expect it to be working w/o having to ponder/wonder. ||As far as the breakfast, it was ok. (ours had way too much cream cheese sandwiched in a croissant). The main problem was where to eat?? There wasn't / isn't any common area for guest to sit at a proper table and eat. We are given our breakfast on a tray at our door and are expected to bring it in our already tiny room and eat in there. The small table in the room has a leaf that doesn't work. So, imagine the "Big Bang Theory" gang eating their meals while holding plates in their laps and this is what we did. Really, not so good. I guess we could have gone to the sitting area/library, but not a real table in there either. Plus, it is all carpet, and we didn't want to drip anything on the carpet. And if other quests were present, there isn't any way to share this sitting room. ||||Wifi was kinda weak at times, had to position our iPads at strategic spots to receive the signal. Forget about sitting in the bed next to the window,,no signal there. ||||So, all in all, we didn't really enjoy ourselves at the SE. Expected so much more. Maybe, we didn't do diligent homework. It has been a while since we stayed in a B&B, and maybe we expected too much. Nonetheless, we did like Leavenworth and want to come back, but won't be...
Read moreInitially, my husband and I planned on staying at this B&B for our honeymoon in December 2014, but ended up going to Iceland instead. Ultimately, the adventure was so exhausting that we ended up booking a weekend here anyway. I'm SO glad we did!||||Linny and Vern were the most wonderful hosts. When we first arrived, our poor little car couldn't make it up the icy hill to the house. Vern walked down to meet us and gave my husband some instruction on how to get to the top. When we still couldn't quite make it, Vern got out his sand bucket and started throwing sand under our tires to give us traction. Such great customer service!||||Our stay was equally wonderful. The inn only has 3 rooms, so you really feel secluded and able to relax. Our room was one of the smaller rooms, but it was so amazingly cozy. We loved being able to relax in the cushy bed and feel the warmth of the fireplace heater. If it had been bigger, it wouldn't have had the charm. There is also a hot tub (so fun in the freezing cold!) and a pool and BBQ for less cold times.||||Linny and Vern are the perfect owners of a B&B. They aren't intrusive at all, but are totally willing to chat with their guests! Our second night there, we spent at least 45 minutes chatting with them and playing with their sweet little dog, Ruby.||||Now, for the breakfast part of the Bed & Breakfast. One word: Incredible! Linny sends up the coffee about an hour before you've requested your breakfast. The coffee is roasted in downtown Leavenworth, so it's extra delicious! Vern's breakfast creations are tasty, beautiful, and perfect. The first morning we had a strawberry and cream filled croissant with sausage, and the second morning we had a blueberry banana muffin with a potato and egg casserole that I'm still dreaming about.||||This B&B is everything a B&B should be. The inn itself is the picture of cozy relaxation and the owners are warm, welcoming, and you can tell they genuinely love hosting guests. If you choose to spend your Leavenworth time here, you will be...
Read moreThis is a small bed and breakfast in the fascinating Alpine-styled town of Leavenworth, Washington. There are only 3 rooms...two smaller rooms and one suite. Pay the extra and opt for the suite. It has two balconies and a private entrance. The view was so breathtaking that instead of venturing into town on Sunday, we stayed in and spent the day on the balconies, watching a deer eating leaves off the trees and taking a nap on the lawn from one, and taking in the view beyond town to the magnificent mountains from the other. The owners, Vern and Linny, were so gracious. Linny did laundry for us, and folded it so neatly and left it on our bed. We did go into town for dinner, and when we returned, the saw us coming and invited us to come in and visit for a few minutes. The few turned into over an hour, and it was as if we were long-time friends. We have been to Leavenworth many times but this was our first stay at Scandinavian Escape. The breakfasts, delivered to our room, was very delicious and artfully arranged. The kind of presentation you usually see only in the finest restaurants. It is definitely where we will stay on future visits! It was a perfect way to celebrate our 61st...
