This is a great campground if you are looking for a quiet place away from the kids. The campground is adults only, and is set up very nice. There is a nice mix of both close, and private sites, so if you want to travel with friends or be on your own, there is a spot for both. The owner is a hard working retired Marine, who does most of the work on the grounds himself, with a couple of part time helpers. All sites have electric and water, and there is a sewer dump station on site. Firewood is available and free also, so don't bring any with you, as you shouldn't anyways. There are a lot of seasonal campers, and much of the time they aren't even there. When they are, they are all very friendly. There are also showers and toilets in the two bath houses on the grounds, and even free wifi at the office. There is even a pool for swimming and a pond for fishing, if so inclined. The owner and many of the seasonal campers are knowledgeable of the surrounding area, which includes the Maine seashore 45 minutes away, Mt Washington 1.5 hrs away, and downtown Boston 2 hours away, (with train stations nearby so you don't have to drive and pay...
Read moreWe just returned from a long weekend camping at Potter's Place, and we're definitely planning on going back! The campground was beautifully maintained, and the owner, Tom, was very nice. When we checked in, I mentioned we had a dog with us who wasn't big on other dogs, and Tom actually moved our assigned site one over, to give us more space from a neighbor who also had a dog. The campground was SUPER quiet - having a dog in a tent rather than an RV allows her to hear all the noises, and typically, she'd be waking us up around 6 or 7 am, just due to the general morning activity of a campground. But it was so quiet here that we were all able to sleep in later! We really enjoyed walking along the pond and nature trails adjacent to the campground. We didn't see any other tent campers while we there - it seemed to be mainly seasonal campers in their RVs. But everyone was so nice and welcoming, even though we were only staying a few nights. HIGHLY recommend Potter's Place if you're looking for a quiet, adults-only...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stopped into Potters place just by chance during a road trip from Canada. We had intended on staying just one night but we loved the people and the grounds so much that we stayed another and another and another ! We’re tenters that usually camp in the middle of the woods off old logging roads. The grounds are well kept and very unique, the seasonal campers are welcoming and I can’t say enough good about the owner Tom. Having a camp ground without kids was very refreshing. We’re already planning our next trip in the fall and we’re definitely going to make a stop at Potters for...
