Ootona is an Army Corp of Engineers park near LaBelle, Fl and like all of the Corp parks, they are nice. All of the Corp. Parks I have stayed at are along a waterway of some sort and Ortona is on the Calooseahatchie river leading to the Gulf of Mexico near Ft. Myers. It is fun watching the boats go thru the locks.

If you have an America the Beautiful or a Seniors pass the cost is only $15 a night which is a lot less expensive than most other places you can stay. There are Corp parks in nearly every State, so if you are travelling, it is well worth buying the pass as it is also accepted at all of the national parks and national forests.

I should add this footnote, being a fulltime rv'er, I am in no way a part of the Corp., but if it sounds like I enjoy their campgrounds, that...

The only reason. I give it 4 stars is because while the campground is beautiful and secluded, the staff is amazing, the dock is a fun fishing spot and mingling area, and the bathrooms are well kept. I was confused how the rate$ are the same for all of the sites when some offer more space and privacy than others. Granted its the same picnic bench, fire pit, and grill at all of them. One side of the grounds is more crowded than the other and closer to the only available dock. I also wish maybe they had just a simple playground, Laundromat, bait shop, or vending machine. But if you com prepared you'll have a great time. Great...

Nice ,Corps pf Engineers, campground, not busy at this time of season. Sits at lock on waterway. Beautiful scenery and pretty boats passing thru the locks.we have visited several times over the years, usually in early Spring. This year restroom were locked at upper end of campground, no reason given. 10 miles to closest resturant or grocery in LaBelle. But a quiet place to relaz between work or other travels. Has electric and water at sites, dump station...

This is a small(ish) Army Corp of Engineers campground. Very well maintained, clean, quiet, and in the middle of nowhere. Ft. Myers is 30 minutes away, and Clewiston is 30 min away. Sites are plenty long enough for all but the absolute largest or Class A's. The river that the locks are controlling has an extremely fast current, so no fishing or swimming is allowed.

Had a very nice stay! The park is beautiful. Sites are located along the lock system on the Calusahatchee River. You can watch boats go through the lock system. There are accessible fishing piers on both sides of the river with great fishing. Park is well maiHotspot. Showers and restrooms available. Cell coverage with ATT hotspot. Will definitely return!

We stayed here for 1 night and enjoyed it. There is plenty of room to walk, sight see and fish. There is very little shade it privacy between camp sights though. Enjoyable for short stays.
