I booked a 3 bedroom unit for our group of 8 adults. Check-in for Fridays apparently do not start till 7pm, but after 4 phone calls, I was able to confirm that our unit would "be available early." We checked in at 4pm on 2/3/2023, the parking lot was empty so we pulled our vehicle closest to the walkway because the temp was in the 20's and we were trying to unload quickly. Immediately, the office manager came out and SCREAMED across the parking lot that were were not allowed to park there. I explained that we were just unloading.||||Upon entering the unit, I noticed that the grate right in front of the door was loose and felt unsafe. In the middle of the dining area was a mouse trap and we saw droppings on the stove top. The carpet was stained and the microwave door handle was broken. All of the beds looked old and mattresses were sunken in. The lamp shade had rips in it. The towels were rough and worn. There was dust everywhere - on the ceiling fan, the counters and knobs, on the bathroom hooks. ||||About 30 mins in, we noticed that the unit was chilly and the thermostat still read 60F. I called the office and was told someone would come by to check. The maintenance guy arrived and stated that he would turn on the "emergency heat" but the temp did not increase. When I called back to ask about the heating guy, I was told he would not be coming until the next morning. Meanwhile, the outside temp was rapidly dropping (subzero temps). We were offered 2 other units (because nothing available to sleep 8) one of which was next door but the other was not. We had already unpacked everything and it was quite frigid outside so I declined to move but I went to the office and picked up the key and stated we would may use it for sleeping if the cold because unbearable. The woman kept saying well if you don't move, it's your choice but I am giving you the option. ||||Overnight, half of our group went next door, which was slightly cleaner but not much warmer. We burned 10 Duraflame logs (at $5+ each) to try to keep warm. There was a small space heater that was brought over by the maintenance guy which was dirty and dusty and not very helpful. ||||In the morning, we found new mouse droppings even though all of our food had been put away either in the fridge or the microwave (for sealed storage). ||||The heating serviceman did not arrive until after 10:30am. The outside unit was 'broken' so the heat in the second unit probably was not working either. He fixed the heat while we were out. ||||We had the place rented for a week but we left on Sunday. This was the worst place I have...
Read moreCheck in was fine, very kind and helpful, this was the weekday staff. I’ll get to the lovely Sunday employees.
Cabins need outside maintenance bad, chimney was moldy so if the wind blew right the smell of trash would fill the living room. Because of the chimney there were flies everywhere. three of the blankets had stains or things caked on them. The kitchen floor boards were coming apart. One of the sliding doors was messed up as well. The towels felt like sandpaper. The paper towels they left for us had black mold on them.
On 2 different occasions someone tried entering the unit. Once was late at night, you can’t see, prob was drinking I’ll let it slide. Come the next day though same thing happens but the door unlocks if not for the dead bolt they would have walked right in.
There is a large condemned resort next door full of buildings with squatters living in them.
When I reported this, I was told we don’t know what happen what do you want us to do, maybe it was maintenance, maybe they had a call. I didn’t call maintenance or housekeeping. The woman then went on to say she’d call maintenance, she never called back and they stopped picking up the phone so I had to go to the office. where they said maintenance had a call and they were knocking door to door to see who it was, lie #1 cause no one knocked just tried to enter.
every unit has a specific number and signs that clearly say which is which. When I asked for the maintenance number she refused, and that’s when her husband arrived, Looking for a physical confrontation. Lie #2 she said he worked there. That’s why he was there even though I heard her say he’s here into her cellphone when I entered the office.
I left and said I’m calling the cops this is when coincidentally her husband runs to the car and speeds off out of the resort. the woman never mentioned to the police her husband worked there confirming her lying, her excuse for calling her husband to start a fight was she was scared.
Older Hispanic woman with glasses that works sundays is who it was. Her husband drives a black jeep license plate number is KWK 7141.
she locked the door to the check in building, when I went to checkout early cause of people trying to break in and employees calling people to start physical altercations with me, she refused to accept the keys and folder that are mandatory to return or you’re charged fees. She yelled leave it on the porch.

Read moreOur non lakeside unit was a throwback to the 80's, with some updates such as the main floor, slider, microwave, and a couple windows. First unit had no a/c and a bad fridge. We were quickly moved to a unit with functional equipment. While dated, both units were clean inside with a nice open floor plan.
Lakeside units while with a view, may be in more disrepair. I noticed some really bad roofs. I've never seen shingles nailed sideways before. I suspect some of these units are leaking badly.
The rec center and pool was ok with some arcades, pinball, pool table, and air hockey. The hours for the rec center seem to be set by who's working there, so they may shut down early. There's a woman named Aliyah who works there that's rude and got smart with us when we tried to get in there at 7:40 one evening.
The lake facilities could use some help as the dock is mostly missing and unsafe to walk on. Since the demolition of the Tamiment resort, this place has sadly never been the same. We caught a few catfish, sunfish, and toured with inflatable kayaks.
Very close to Bushkill falls and the amphitheater. Not too far from the grocery store and some restaurants.
Wildlife here isn't scared of people. You can feed deer out of your hand. There's also a huge black bear that knows about the dumpsters and people's ineptitude with regards to shutting them properly. Seeing the bear made our day.
Not quite the scene of an apocalypse movie like some of the 1/5 reviews, but maybe working towards it. If you're bold enough to risk no trespassing charges, venture around the lake to the ruins of the old tamiment resort. There's a better boat entry area over there, and you can walk out on what's left of the paddle boat docks to have better fishing without obstructions. People seem to hang out there regularly. Be warned as there is activity on the property, so you could technically get in trouble, especially if you try to enter any abandoned buildings.
Overall was still a great vacation, but doesn't compete with a tropical getaway, the beauty of Florida's natural springs, or...
