I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the communication and services provided during my stay at Hickory Hill. The owner, Frank, has been unresponsive and has failed to address the issues I have encountered. The cabin we rented, "The Nutmeg," was not as secluded as advertised. Upon entering the cabin, we were met with a ladder to the upper loft that was attached with a ratchet strap. The shower was very cramped, and the queen bed was in poor condition, with a broken center piece held up by two pieces of wood. The sheets and mattress were stained with blood. Despite the $20 cleaning fee, I left the cabin cleaner than I found it. I was also charged a $69 damage fee, even though we did not cause any damage. Additionally, we were refused service at The Hickory Cabin Grill 10 minutes before closing time, even though we were guests at Hickory Hill. The disc golf course runs through the yard of the two cabins, which was not mentioned in the listing. I have notified the owner of these issues, but he has yet to respond to my messages. I am disappointed with the overall experience and the lack of communication from the owner. I would appreciate a prompt resolution to these matters. RESPONSE: Disc golf practice or not it was not discussed in the ad. The square feet of the cabin was not a issue. Size of the shower was stated for others to be aware so size did not become a issue for someone else. Speaking to the house cleaner was not a request I asked for. Pictures I provided was confirmation. You failed to mention the most important part and the was the blood present on the broken bed and sheets along with uncleanlyness of the cabin. Which is a HUGE health issue for anyone! The damage fee that clearly was not a issue nor was the check out cleanliness. Resolution still has not been resolved. RESPONSE TO EDIT- MR. FRANK I have pictures posted that are date and time stamped people tend to forget that is a possibility sonow come on! Dishonesty never gets you anywhere now does it? Eating humble pie is terrible as well. We checked in Friday at 6:02 p.m. and checked out a day early. We stayed two nights due to your lack of response Mr. Frank. Everything we did was text book. I do not menstruate due to a hysterectomy caused by cancer. Nor does my husband and neither of us have open wounds. You keep mentioning irrelevant items in your responses as to why I'm unsure ( Cameras). If the sheets were clean with no blood stain present where did the picture come from another cabins bedroom that just so happens to look as yours does? I'm far to old to banter with a older man that obviously has issues with assuming responsibility and admitting fault. The Better Business Bureau, Edmonson County Health Department followed with Department Of Infectious Disease can assist you from this point. They were all willingly delightful upon taking our complaint due to our picture time date stamped proof of the original posted issues. Have a wonderful evening.

Unique and well-appreciated stay! The only place to stay near MCNP in my opinion; we stayed in Nutmeg cabin for two nights while visiting the park. It was fun to take the ferry across the river to get here. The cabin is down a private lane and shares the plot with one other cabin - it is very quiet at night. The craftsmanship of the cabin was fantastic, though the bathroom was cramped and the bed was pretty creaky. Wifi was spotty too but we didn't go there to surf the web. We really took advantage of the kitchen, charcoal grill, and hot tub. It was great to eat dinner on the private deck. Would definitely recommend to any couple or a couple with one child (sleep in loft) looking for a quiet and secluded place to stay. Also of note - there are a couple small convenience stores that sell a bit of everything except beer - this is a dry county!

I stayed a few weeks ago with my grandson and 2 nephews. The cabin was very cozy and in a peaceful setting. The amenities in the cabin were as described. The disc golf course was also a good place for a short hike. The ferry was closed so our drive to the Mammoth Cave Visitor Center was about 40 minute on well maintained country roads. We had family members staying nearby at Nolin Lake State Park which was about a 10 minute drive. I highly recommend both locations. The owners were very helpful. We really enjoyed our few days of quiet in the country.

Hickory Cabins in one word is “AWESOME”.

They currently (2019) have 3 exquisite cabins that can accommodate up to 18 people in all for people who would like to have a wonderful, tranquil family vacation or a couple just looking for a secluded romantic weekend getaway. There is an abundance of tourist attractions and activities located within minutes great for any age group. Might want to add a few extra days to your stay to get it all in.

It doesn’t stop there, as they are also able to provide some really nice amenities of their own surely to entertain you while you are there.

Kayaks & bikes are available to rent, making for some impressive sightseeing in nature while bonding with those that mean the most to you.

They also have a beautiful, scenic disc golf course that is located right on the grounds that is free to use.

Don’t have disc? Would like you own kayak? They have you covered. Lincoln Trail Outfitters is there with discs and kayaks and many other outdoor recreation products for purchase.

Hungry? Hickory Cabins Grill must be the area’s favorite restaurants for locals and visitors alike. You can call in and carryout for convenience or dine there with the whole family. The menu contains a variety of items such as pizza, burgers, appetizers and specialty sandwiches that incomparable to anywhere else.

Maybe the best part of all, is Frank, Richard, and staff offer a level of comforting service you won’t receive anywhere which will make you want to return...

We stayed in Bigleaf. The cabin location is perfect for many of the surrounding sites.Super close to the stables,Mammoth Cave and Nolin Dam. Frank was delightful and very easy to work with. No complaint with any of that at all. 3 stars because it just wasn't a comfortable place to hang out . The couch was wonky. The beds were not comfortable and the patio in the back looked like it hadn't been swept or the cobwebs cleared away. Lesson learned- do not assume that every cabin has a washer/dryer and dishwasher. It wasn't mentioned in the cabin description one way or the other and if it was I totally missed it. There was no washing machine which honestly would not have been an issue had it not been hotter than fire when we were there. We managed though. The A/C was a lifesaver and being close to the attractions so you could take showers in between was really good too! There were frisbee golf trails that went through the woods but not necessarily hiking trails, you have to go into mammoth cave for that. Take away- great location for the sites. Frank was super helpful in answering questions about sites and restaurants. If you stay here definitely check out Blue Holler Cafe , this is a German owned restaurant with authentic German food that was delicious and the...
