As I told Robin and Denis at the end of a whirlwind day, our wedding at Seven Hills Inn was "magical."
I am a planner by nature and a true Type A personality, so I knew right after meeting with Robin that her style would suit me perfectly - she is detail-oriented, runs a tight ship and strives for nothing less than perfection. Between that and the gorgeous grounds and facilities of Seven Hills, it was a no-brainer to host our wedding weekend there.
Our number one priority was to provide accommodation for all of our guests right at the venue, and to create the feeling of a weekend retreat, family reunion and celebration all rolled into one. Seven Hills is perfect for this, with enough conversation pits and softly lit rooms to feel cozy, and yet a sprawling lawn and grounds so that no one feels on top of each other. The ceremony spot sealed the deal, and despite the low 50's temperature on our wedding day, we got married outside in front of the most beautiful backdrop that nature could deliver.
I had many questions throughout the 14 months of planning, and Robin answered them all. She has a thorough system to plan every minute of your wedding weekend so that by the time the weekend actually approaches, everything runs seamlessly (and if an occasional hiccup occurs, she takes care of it before you even know it happened). I was able to use a combination of Robin's recommended vendors and my own trusted contacts, which worked fairly well.
The rooms in the Manor Inn where my husband and our parents and bridal party stayed are all unique and gorgeous, with a number of quirky features that only an older, well-loved home can offer. Our friends and family loved the accommodations in the Carriage House and Terrace Country Motel. A handful of pet-friendly and handicap accessible rooms are great for making sure everyone on your guest list is comfortable.
We were slightly apprehensive about the idea of having our reception hosted in several different gathering rooms, but we ended up loving the transition of cocktails at the bar and throughout the main rooms, to dinner in the Banquet Room, and finishing with dancing in the Music Room. Our guests loved it as well - and those that stayed overnight raved about breakfast each morning. I still think about those muffins!
There's not much more to say, other than I can't recommend enough having your wedding at Seven Hills Inn. It was above and beyond the happiest day of our lives, and we have Robin, Denis and their lovely staff to thank for everything they did to...
Read moreMy husband and I were guests here for my birthday weekend (checking in Sat, checking out Sun) and it was a surprise for me. We live in CT about 1.5 hrs. away. I’ve read some of the reviews and will share our experience:
The Inn has three main buildings - the main historic mansion, a smaller carriage house to the right, and to the left a separate motel-styled 2-story building called the Terrace House. If someone thought their room was in the main historic manor and ended up in Terrace House, I could see how they would think it was a “bait and switch” upon arrival. I do agree that the welcome at check-in was not as hospitable as it could have been - very functional greeting and when we asked about the hiking trails the inn had featured, the young woman said she had no idea about any of them and couldn’t give us any advice because she lived a town over.
The grounds are beautiful and you have the opportunity to build your own fire pit at night, which we did when we returned from dinner and it was the most peaceful experience before heading in for the night.
While we didn’t use the pool, we saw it being cleaned/maintained and we saw other guests using it.
The Inn was packed this weekend and there was a nice bustle at breakfast time in the main manor. A previous reviewer said the breakfast was basic, but that was not our experience - it was Continental (no hot items) but there was a hearty selection.
We had gone out to dinner at Firefly Gastro Pub, 10 minutes away and the food/cocktails were fabulous. Would highly recommend.
We would encourage people to give Seven Hills Inn a chance. I’ve included...
Read moreFIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO STAY! UNDERSTAFFED, & ROOMS ARE NOT CLEANED WELL. Cleaning Staff left trash on our bed and didn't clean the fridge. Their website photos of this place make it look way nicer. The property surrounding the rooms is well kept, the grass is nice and the flowers are pretty, but inside the rooms we sleep in is another story. DIRTY.
On the very first day, we found leftover food and someone's INSULIN inside the fridge from previous person who stayed in the room. Clearly during Covid times, that fridge was not cleaned or sanitized. When I called front desk about it, they asked ME to throw it out. Photos of the trash we threw out. On the second day, we noticed that they did not change out the trash, give us fresh towels or make our beds. We let that slide. But, we were in need of fresh towels so we called the front desk at 5PM for new ones and because the place is severely understaffed, they asked me to go to the front desk to grab towels because no one was available to run it over.
BUT HERE WAS DEALBREAKER. On our VERY LAST NIGHT, we had gone out to dinner and were still waiting for a room clean because the trash was overflowing and the towels were not removed. When we came back at 10PM, we found a bag of bathroom TRASH on one of our beds, along with dirty towel and a green laundry bag that the Inn uses to do laundry. THE TRASH ON OUR BED. THE BED THAT WE SLEEP ON. During a pandemic, is that at all sanitary? NO. Is this AT ALL ACCEPTABLE? NO. We were horrified, and wanted at least new bedsheets. No one works at front desk after 7PM. They ask you to call a room where an overnight staff member stays. We kept calling the room and no one picked up because again - severely understaffed and that person was probably addressing another hotel guest. We didn't end up getting any help that night and complained to front desk the next morning when we checked out. After complaining to the front desk, they did refund me for the very last night. But still, I will not be going...
