For our holiday weekend, we were looking for something festive and charming, and maybe a bit rustic. What we got is exactly what we paid for: a decent place to eat and sleep for 5 days, with absolutely no extras (except for a kickass hair dryer). The room refrigerator was balanced precariously on an ugly wooden block; I don't know for what purpose. The "closets" were utilitarian - just inserts covered with curtains. The furniture was minimal and vaguely ship-themed; including 2 full-size beds (despite reserving 2 queens); 1 oddly long wooden bench; 1 rolling chair, and 1 shared bedside table whose tiny area was mainly taken up with a design-forward but broken alarm clock. There weren't a lot of places to put things, especially in and around the bathroom. The wi-fi was sufficient,c so thumbs up there, especially as we were using our Roku to stream television channels. Cleanliness: staff was off on both Christmas eve and day, but if we left our trashes out, or requested extra towels we were cheerfully obliged. I found a hair on my bed and many, many gross-looking stains on the rug; however the bathroom seemed pretty clean and so did most of the other areas. The hotel had generous parking and a lovely pool. We bought room service the first night and wouldn't recommend it/never repeated it. Finally, the location was awful - my fault entirely. I thought we were closer to the city center - closer to anything - but as it turned out, we were next to nothing. We were basically marooned at the hotel except for the days I rented a car. Not quite what I expected is all, so just you be advised. Overall: kind and efficient staff made up for a lot of oversights. Staff also amenable to Instacart and Grubhub deliveries, which made things easier for our extended stay. Practical? Reasonably. Magical? Definitely not, but this is not meant to be a criticism, but rather an opportunity to prepare your expectations and avoid disappointment. It's a decent hotel, but no great place to spend the holiday.

We ended up at Aloft Lexington after the first major storm of the year knocked out our power for 30 hours. It was meant to be a stay of convenience. We arrived hungry. The bar that supposedly served “bar fare and appetizers” was not open because “the bartender was not feeling well”, which is completely acceptable, but this isn’t a stand alone bar this is a hotel and that bar served the only food and drinks. There were two people checking us in at the lobby, neither of them can serve the food at least? That doesn’t seem practical for a hotel with absolutely nothing around. There was no restaurant unless you count whatever they supposedly served at the bar, even though their website lists them both separately. They also list a serve yourself grab and go station that is touted as “gourmet” with “meals” and a “make your own cappuccino machine” none of that was true. There were some chips and drinks, nothing resembling a meal. We were even told breakfast was “a la carte” but there wasn’t a single staff member in the lobby the three separate times we were in there before leaving. So I can’t imagine they were serving any food. The room was in disrepair, there was damage everywhere, it seemed like a combination of bad craftsmanship to begin with and poor upkeep. The tv was not in working order, I don’t even know how to describe it since in the last 20 years I can’t remember experiencing anything like this, but it was like staticky and skipping the picture and chopped up ( I included a video ). Useless to us. Then to top it all off a cleaning person woke us up at about 845 after repeatedly banging on the door, till eventually it seemed she was going to try and open it and come in and we yelled out that we were still in there. I assume she thought it was empty since I had already received an email claiming it was a post check out email even though according to the website checkout was at 12. When we left of course there was no one in the lobby to ask about this.

We stayed at this hotel for multiple nights while some work was being done on our normal living quarters. The staff were wicked accommodating (a big shout out to Alice) and always helpful (we had to keep pets with us which added a slight complication for us in terms of checkin and checkout times). Everyone was always friendly and efficient. The room was spacious, clean, quiet, and comfortable. Housekeeping never bothered the pets (good). There was a mini-fridge in the room. The bathroom was clean. The WIFI worked great in the room and the lobby and didn't require anything stupid (like your email address or goofy sign-in codes). A very, minor (and I mean minor) ding would be that the desk space didn't have outlets up top (there were three 3-prong outlets underneath it). There were sufficient outlets near the beds. The fitness room was clean, spacious, and functional. On one of the mornings, the breakfast cook didn't show up so the front desk sent everyone across the courtyard (100') to "Element" (the sister extended stay hotel) for a free hot breakfast. That was the obvious and reasonable thing to do. There's a ChargePoint charging station for EVs. Access to/from I-95/128 is very easy and the hotel is close to the Minuteman National Historic Park, Lexington Battle Green, and other historic sites.

My stay at Aloft Lexington was far disappointing. The night I arrived05/09/14 it was raining real hard outside and I got soaked. When undressing for the night I had laid my wet shirt on the side of the bed for a few minutes, which left a stain on the sheets. The next morning when I left for the day, I put the sheets on the floor so they would be changed out. I came back to my room late that night and my bed was made. When I opened the sheets the stain that was deposited from the wet shirt the night before was still there, indicating that room service took my soiled sheets off the dirty floor and remade my bed with them. So I called the front desk 7 times from my room phone(which no one answered) to have room service come and replace the sheets. Since nobody answered I figured there might be something wrong with the room phone, so I called from my personal cell phone 6 more times and the phone just rang and rang. So I decided to go down stairs to the front desk and inquire about getting my sheets replaced. As I walked to the reception desk, I see the attendant lying down on a couch across the room. I asked her if anyone answers the phone at night, which she replied yes. I told her I called a total of 13 times to the front desk with no answer, her reply was that the phone did not ring. So I pull out my phone and called the exact number I called from my cell phone 6 times, and surely enough the phone rang. Her response then was that she did not hear it ring, or maybe it is more likely that she was too lazy to get up off the couch and answer it. After telling her about my sheets she told me room service would come up and replace the sheets in a few minutes. 45 minutes later a security officer comes to my door and delivers my sheets and tells me to have a good night, which then I went off and made my own bed. I mentioned these problems to the front desk receptionist the next morning, and she wrote down the incident and told me that the manager would contact me about it shortly. 6 days have gone by and nobody has contacted me about the problems that occurred when I stayed. If you feel like you are entitled to have your room cleaned, bed sheets placed on the floor replaced with clean ones, someone that answers the reception desk when you call, then Aloft Lexington is not the hotel for you. But if you feel like it’s your responsibility to replace soiled sheets on your bed, then Aloft Lexington is your kind of place. I personally know I would not recommend anyone I care about to stay...

But this place made me feel right at home, right away. From the wonderful woman at the desk on a Saturday night, to just a warm vibe in the place.

The hotel was probably pretty empty. I could judge by the parking lot.

When you walk in there's funky music playing. Some people have said it's too loud? I thought it was fine. People playing pool, socially distancing, a fireplace in front of me, and a little area to the right of the circular check-in desk that had items to munch on for snacks.

I was able to check in very quickly. Given room per my specifications of not being on the first floor, and if I went.

The only downside? My room was literally at the end of the hall. So I had to work almost the entire distance of the hotel, but I guess that's OK because it's kind of what I asked for.

The room is cool. I like the colors and the design to the room, but it's very very sparse. Which I think is part of the design idea.

It's got this weird bench underneath the television. It's hard. Like one that you would use at a campsite. With a thin small cushion only on one side. I'm not sure if it's supposed to have two, and one is gone, or it's supposed to be designed that way. Then the desk is on one side and on the other side of something that looks just like a desk hiding the heating unit. Windows look directly out on the back of the property, in this case, a big high Rock wall LOL. The shades have pull chains, and work very well. To dark in the room? Easy to do. The television is really big. And sort of the center focus of the room as well. The bed was big. It is king size. And I like that it wasn't too bouncy. I feel like it was a newer mattress this way, you know?. White linens complete the look. The bathroom is weird, but laid out nicely. There's a shower stall at one end with a rain shower head. I'm short. So it literally just goes all over me as opposed to on me. Toilet, sink, and then an area that looks like a lock room for your storage for your clothes. I wish they were drawers somewhere in the room. I couldn't see staying here for more than a day or two, due to the storage. Again. Super clean and neat. I liked it. It worked for one night. Which was what I was...

The title of the review is a reference to a favorite album of mine, the Genesis album, "Three Sides Live."

Aloft Lexington was wonderful again!

There were problems that came our way, but the Aloft team overcame them magnificently with an emphasis on service. I had previously had an SPG keyless failure-and, unfortunately, it did not work this time either. Nick, who was on duty when I checked in that evening (and remembered it), tried four different ways to resolve it (including to calll SPG, who had a long wait time) and when we ultimately could not, took a detailed note and made sure that I had room access with a key. The next morning, Neil promptly figured it out what it was and input an override. I had seamless SPG keyless access for the rest of my stay. Props to all the staff generally, Chris served me two wonderful Blackberry Prosecco spritzers, Nick was attentive and concerned for me and my comfort on checkin and to make sure that the Element pool was available (which I enjoyed hanging out in-although I miss my Aloft pool!), Neil was a tremendous ambassador of the hotel and of the area, answered all my questions with a smile and accommodated my many requests ranging from breakfast to a late checkout to extra lotion to ensuring that my Green choice Bonus Starpoints were processed, and my compliments to Captain Ken, my fellow Trekker and night auditor (if there's anything you need, just dial 0 and he will take care of it) who discussed Star Trek, SciFi, New England, and got me wake-up calls every morning! And, of course, you always the most interesting fellow guests!

And, I was able to be productive both days-two good hours of work got done every day in the room with perfect Internet access. And the lobby was a great place to hangout-including the inner courtyard!

I can't wait for the Aloft pool to reopen.

I do want to suggest some more healthy options at ReFuel-I love the Berry Mix but I think some more fruit or vegetable options are definitely in order. Perhaps a veggie dish with dip or something?

I love this hotel and want to return as often as I can. Perhaps I'll even bring a date. Thank...
