Elwood Resort & Campground — Hotel in Lexington

After 5 days on the road we were in desperate need of some time to recoup. After staying at rest/truck stops we really needed someplace peaceful and our chocolate lab needed some room to exercise. We are not fond of the hot spots that come up on typical internet searches. And this being a holiday week(end) we were not hopeful. But then we found Elwood Resort. What a wonderful surprise!!!! Brian the camp owner met us on arrival and placed us in the most perfect spot! So much do that our 2 night stay immediately turned into 3. Brian and his wife are so friendly and gracious. They even went to the store for us since I forgot ginger ale! We are in a motorhome with no car. So gracious! He had lots of info on local fishing and good suggestions for our travels. The sunsets are beautiful, the grounds are clean, quiet and spacious and our lab has room to fetch her ball. The lake is a very short walk away. Fishing is great and room to swim the pooch. Our journey takes us from Washington to Florida. This place is a gem of a find! Just what we needed. I wish there was a website just for campgrounds like this. We have been going to Elwood Reservoir for over 10 years. We go for the fantastic fishing. For years we rented the cabins which were clean, comfortable and functional. If we ever needed anything Brian or his wife Mia always took care of it. Recently we purchased a camper. For two years now we have rented a lot. The campground is so quiet, well taken care of and safe. Loud partying is rare and so far we only learn about it later! When Mia arrived on the scene she has used her special touch to update, remodel and redecorate the cabins, plant trees for shade, and is always busy doing something to keep the campground and the cabins looking great. Mia and Brian are fun to visit with. They are helpful, knowledgeable and interested in providing great service. We REALLY enjoy spending spring, summer and fall at Elwood Resort and Campground. I’ve been wanting to fish Elwood reservoir for about 3 years now. I was pleasantly surprised when my wife said she wanted to stay for a weekend for her birthday. So I booked a cabin for 3 days. We met Brian and his wife and were warmly welcomed. We found the cabin fresh and clean. Well maintained. During our stay we found the resort to be very peaceful and couldn’t have felt safer. We were able to buy an assortment of baits and also received great information on the fishing for this time of year. Brian and his wife were very accommodating and friendly. I really couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my wife’s first time fishing trip. If you are looking for a great place to stay with some of the best fishing Nebraska has to offer, I highly recommend giving Elwood Resort and Campground a try.
