Further Update: Thing is, today as her dog show friends came in they let some of theirs run loose in the field off the leash. Apparently she only wanted others to follow a leash law and not her or her friends.
UPDATE: Took our two standard poodles out to play catch in a big field for exercise. Did not realize that the open field to play for a few minutes pertain to the leash rule. Apparently it does because a lady saw us and had her dog on a leash. She , in my opinion purposely brought her dog threw so our dogs would want to play with hers. She had an entire field to walk hers in. But chose to come near ours. She had it on a leash. When ours went to play she started yelling and hitting them with the leash. When I put mine on leash and returned to camping spot she immediately turned around and left the area. Fine, now I know it is all leash area. But, she was part of the issue. Again, their really needs to be a DOG PARK in the Campground for dogs that need exercise. Another person had their dog playing freebie. She yelled and ask them if they were gonna hit her and needed to be on leash. The lady said; he is in control, I have shock collar, we did also. She keeps walking through the field to annoy people exercising their dogs. She is carrying whip like rope threatening others and their dogs if come near and her dog. SAD!
OLD: Horsepark this year wasn't as exciting as last year and July 4th weekends in the past. The scavenger hunt and 3 point shot were on the first day so hardly any kids and only about 4 people participated in 3 point shot contest. It needed to be on Friday night or Saturday evening for all the families to enjoy. The golf cart parade was still a success and the band/movie nights. It was so dry with hardly any rain that mud at sites was not as bad as normal, as it dried quickly.
It would be nice if the store would stay open till 8 or 9 P. M. every night of the 5 day required stay. (It is part of the amenities you pay for.) The pool closed at 6 P.M., it really needed to stay open till 8 or so. Many kids had to choose between the pool and other activities due to it's early closure.
It seems the campground brings in alot of money and that money is spent on the Horsepark, not to keep the campground up.
Also, 2 different activity sheets were given at check-in and some times didn't correspond with the day and activities. So many missed some activities due to that mishap.
Disappointing again, compared to years in past. Just as many other reviewers...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay at the Kentucky Horsepark Campground. Our first night was spoiled by some trashy, noisy neighbors, but those people exist in all campgrounds now unfortunately. Luckily they left the next day, and we were left in blissful peace with good neighbors all around us. The pool is awesome - large and really clean. The lifeguards were okay but constantly turned a blind eye to people diving, despite the huge “no diving” signs. It was no big deal though and everyone was having a good time. The onsite store is friendly and has some grocery basics, ice, etc. The shower block was clean and there was never any queues (unlike at KOA sites). My only grumble is there is no shortcut from the far side of the ‘loop’ to the pool, showers, and store, meaning you may have a long walk to the conveniences if you get caught short in the night and your pit is on the far side. There were people who just paraded through other pitches to get to the conveniences, but that is discourteous and poor campground etiquette. Don’t be one of those people. The mounted police patrol the site regularly on horseback and in vehicles which gives good reassurance, plus the kids love the horses. Unlike many other campgrounds, tent campers are not relegated to some skanky part of the site. Instead, you get the same pitch as RVs, so you may find yourself sandwiched between some swanky fifth wheels or Class As. The pitched have water and power which is nice, but if you are in an RV, note that there are no sewer hookups, although there is a dump station on site. Overall, a great...
Read moreBeautiful campground. There are two bathhouses, one in each loop. The inner loops are good for those who need the bathhouses, you can walk from the rear of your campsite to the bathhouse. We stayed in loop B with our truckcap camper and a tent (for our gear). The basketball courts are in B, and can be annoying listening to the thump of the ball until 10pm. On the way home we stayed in D, inner loop. The playground is here, but the kids playing were not bothersome. The kids are not playing in the playground at 10pm. The big lights over the playground and basketball courts go out at 10pm. We do not have kids and the kids playing did not bother us. I would stay in Loop D again if we visit Kentucky again. ||||The staff is very nice here.||||My big complaint is people with dogs barking and the owners not cleaning up the dog sh&&. Our site in loop B had 3 large piles. We do not have pets and do not carry a shovel, nor should we be expected to clean up after someone else's pet. Watch where you walk.||||The hover board scooters that the kids ride on, need to be banned from the campground. The kids are low to the ground and you cannot see them when driving, especially if you are towing a camper. Be careful and watch for the kids riding bikes and on these...
