We went away for 4 days for our 39th wedding anniversary. And the day before we were going to leave we noticed on their website that they were closing the pool and the hot tub for maintenance. So my husband called and the nice person told us that the manager will have to call us back. We never got a call back. She also told us that they called everyone and let them know. They never called us to let us know. When we got to the hotel we asked about some sort of discount because we paid for a full room with a hot tub and the pool included. The girl, J, came out of the back room and said Yes I heard the manager talking about that and she said she wasn't giving comps to anybody. And that's exactly how she said it. Not an apology..nothing. She also said maybe they had the wrong phone number. I checked for sure and they did not. She was rude. It started our trip off really badly. Tamberlynn was at the front desk and she was super kind. The rest of the trip was lovely. The rooms are beautiful. They see to your every need. Great breakfast. Fun sitting around the campfire talking to another couple. Walked the trails, although muddy. We did not bring our swimsuits. The first night we were there the pool apparently was all set to go. So disappointed in that. There is so much to do around Petoskey and the surrounding area. I will be returning. Can't let someone's hard day ruin a trip again. We did receive a small box of candy with a nice note wishing us a happy anniversary. Tamberlynn signed it and included staff. Everyone else was extremely friendly. They have tea and water and hot cocoa and coffee. It is a fabulous place and I highly recommend it. But I do recommend calling first to make sure the pool and the hot tub are available...
Read moreVery, Clean, descent free breakfast, they were sanitizing everything which is awesome. Nice outdoor seating with fire pit, pool and hot tub were nice and clean and unique with a waterfall. Beautiful building and setting. Nice friendly staff. However, asked to take out the paddle boat (complimentary which is awesome) our last night and there were two girls at the desk. One said it came back sometime ago and hadn't been sanitized so we can't let it go out. We asked when it would be and she replied 30 mins or so when more come in to do too. However the 1st night we were there two different ladies were at the front and we watched them run right out and sanitize every kayak, boat, etc. as soon as it came in if someone was waiting. Disappointing because it was too late by the time she finally got out there to clean it. The pull out couch that we planned to use for our kids to sleep on was poor quality. it was pushed down into the spring which made it uncomfortable. We requested a roll away bed on night 2 and told them the couch was very uncomfortable. The front desk lady contacted the manager and the response was the mattress on those couches are new so it should be fine. And no those rooms which couches can't accommodate a roll away bed. Nor were there other rooms available that would. So we had to put 4 people in our king bed. Not fun when we paid to have a room with a pull out couch for them. Plus the room next door had dogs that barked on and off all night then nonstop at 630am when the owners left so our kids were woke up then. I did speak to the staff and they said unfortunately we are pet friendly. A bit disappointed about those issues bc everything else was very nice. Unfortunately were not sure we'd return bc of...
Read moreThe hotel was surprisingly bright, cheery, and clean. The room was huge, which I loved! Every room appears to have a beautiful view and a balcony – so nice! The staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was not the greatest, a bit stiff, but we didn’t wake up with backaches, so we were happy! The towels were fluffy and white. There is a cabin-like decorating scheme, but it isn’t over the top, so it didn’t feel old and dusty. We had the continental breakfast. I tried an egg scramble with sausage in it. It did not look very appealing but tasted delicious. We ate outside on the patio. It was just beautiful. They obviously have a skilled gardener, which I appreciate very much. Even in September, the bushes and flowers were in excellent shape. We took a short walk on their trail. It started out wide and groomed. Within a couple hundred feet, it was narrow and not-so-groomed. Maybe if we had taken the longer trail it would have been better. They have beautiful grounds with a lake, docks, and wetlands. Everything (except the trail) was very well maintained. The only negative thing was the noise level in our room. I don’t know if it was because we were near the elevator, but in the morning, we could hear people walking and talking like there was a sheet of paper between us. We had brought a white noise machine from home, but I didn’t have it right near our bed. Maybe that would have helped. Despite the noise, it was well worth the stay. I highly recommend Stafford...
