Stayed here on a family trip for a week in June 2025. I’ll do a Good, Bad, Ugly breakdown.

Good: Overall, it’s a relatively clean campground with things for kids to do. They have a cooking shack on the property where you can buy food, and both sides have a pool. You can also walk or drive to the natural spring by the river. The spring is neat, and you can swim in it. With it being spring water, it’s very cool temperature wise. On Saturdays, they have pigeon races and a bingo game. Any young children there should be relatively entertained.

Bad: This campground is in the middle of nowhere, so the campground is pretty much all you have to stay entertained. The nearest city/town with things to do is about a 40 min drive away. I was extremely bored the whole week to the point I wish we had gone somewhere else. Most of the activities there are centered around small children, so if you’re an adult or teenager, be prepared. The pools are small, so the water will feel like bath water, and given the pool is pretty much the main park attraction, you may be huddled in a corner in the 3 ft section because all the campground kids will be there during the day. I wanted to try fishing in the Suwannee, but the only decently accessible beach area was about a 60 ft section by the boat ramp, so you’ll be dealing with canoes going in and out all day and running over your lines. The suwannee is also a long walk from the campground, and if the spots are full by the river, you’ll have little parking options. They have tow warnings around the river if you try to park in a cabin spot.

Ugly: We had a fenced in spot for our dogs, and I was warned to pick up after my dogs or a fee would be applied. I find this ironic given the state my site was in when I arrived. Before I could let my dogs run around, I had to spend 15 minutes picking up trash in my site. There was paper, plastic, and cigarette butts in the grass. A previous tenant apparently ran over his/her plastic coupler to his/her tank hose. The coupler exploded, and there were plastic shards all over the gravel. I had to pick all this up to try and ensure my dogs would not eat something they should not. The grass was also way overgrown. It appeared to have been about two weeks since it was cut, and when trying to pick up dog waste, the waste would be embedded in overgrown grass. The waste turned into mashed potatoes when I tried to pick it up because of the grass.

The bugs were atrocious. The gnats were next level. No matter where you were in the park, you were covered in and swatting at gnats. They were so bad, my dogs were dragging their faces in the grass because their eyes were completely caked with gnats. At the river, I got out of my truck, stood for 10 minutes, and said “nope.” A gnat should be the campground mascot. My son was in his stroller, and gnats were caught in his eyelashes. If you are easily annoyed by insects like this, find somewhere else.

The fire ants. Every inch of my site had fire ants. I got bit numerous times during the week. I could not stand very long before my feet were covered with stinging ants. Between these things and the gnats, I spent no time outside in my space. On day two, the fire ants made their way into the RV. They were all in my pass through storage area, so I knew it was a matter of time before they got into the living section. At home, fire ants have a simple solution: Amdro. Throw that stuff down, and say goodbye to the ants. We called the office in hopes they had some ant control products. When the guy arrived to my site, he said the ants were the responsibility of the landscaping crew which was not there. Gee. Thanks pal. He said he would check to see what they had, and he did come back and spray a small section of the site. This did not get rid of the ants. With an infant sleeping in the camper, this was unacceptable. I ended up having to put down my own ant control product. With that and me having to fix the site’s leaking water at the hookup, I should have...

We have stayed here twice. First time we rented a small cabin that was very adorable. Slept 6. Beds need replacing, very noisy hard mattresses, pull out had a stained sheet on it from who knows when. Had to go to front office to get sheets and such. Gentleman behind the counter had no idea where they were located so he told me to follow him and pick out what I wanted. Not a big deal in my opinion. It’s laid back, country feel. I grew up going to camp grounds so stuff like that I just feel is normal for these types of places. Staff was very friendly to me. I did encounter an employee yelling at a renter over the phone, arguing with them and complaining about it while I was standing at the counter waiting to pay for something. Unprofessional yes, but again, it’s a camp ground and I didn’t think much of it. Pool was nice, hot tub was nice. There were a million knats at the pool though so put bug spray on, especially your face. It was unbearable at times. 2nd time we stayed was this past weekend, we decided to rent the A frame as we had another family coming with us. Just looking at it from the bottom of the stairs I must say it looks sketchy as far as the deck goes. I can’t imagine it’s up to code. When you walk on the deck it takes a major slant right into the river, a bit nerve wracking at first. Inside was very cute, nice views, some soft spots in the floor though! Beds were very comfortable, cold ac. The shower in the small bathroom leaked so we didn’t use it. The loft in the summertime is basically unusable unless you want to sweat in your sleep. There is no air up there and while the loft is open to the rest of the house it was too hot. Fortunately the living room had two pull out couches so it worked out fine for us. Lying in bed I felt I was at a slant lol. It didn’t bother me too much, we joked that was the fun of renting an old cabin on the river, not sure if you are going to fall through the floor at some point! It was nice that the porch was screened and it had a nice little area on the side for fires and relaxing. Wish the grill was closer, seemed out of the way to cook for our family who was all eating on the covered porch. All the springs on the Suwannee were browned out do to the river being so high from all the rain. All the springs were closed to swimming. You cannot see anything in that water and it was just sitting stagnant water. Wouldn’t not recommended swimming in it. The only ones I was who were swimming in it were 3 teenagers. Not recommended. We ended up driving about 30 minutes to Ichetucknee Springs, highly recommend it. We spent 3 days there. Beautiful, relaxing. Overall, if you are expecting this to be a 4 or 5 star resort, don’t stay here. If you are ok with some dirt and occasional bugs, rustic old cabins and friendly people than This is the place. Wish the restaurant was open all week as we only got to eat there on Sunday night. We waited about 10 min for our food, our friends who ordered right after us waited about 30. The food was good and prices were very reasonable! They are dog friendly which is very nice, I am a dog lover, but the campground dog “Charlie” as sweet as she is should not be around people eating their food, she’s got fleas, and the poor girl has EXTREMELY large tumors protruding out of her sides which makes it kind of difficult to enjoy your meal when she’s at your table staring at you. My kids had a blast on our trip, we did travel to springs to occupy our time. Also bring food if you go during the week as you are in the middle of nowhere and the restaurant is only open Friday Saturday and Sunday. We will definitely be back, maybe we will just stick to the 6 person cabin or take a leap of faith and brave the A frame slanted cabin again! Either way, after all said and done we had a great time both times we have...

Let's call this an honest review from a thirty-something, experienced RV'er. We choose this campground after hearing about it at an RV show, and reading other positive reviews online. Our group consisted of a few adults looking to kick back for a weekend and a couple teenagers. We all agreed this campground was rather boring. Boring is good I suppose if you're a snowbird or older couple looking for a calm, unexciting camping trip. The new part of this RV park, where they place 99.9% of campers is in a wide open field that offers NO shade. They have planted very young trees on each site, so in 5-10 years when those trees reach maturity I am sure this problem will resolve itself. The pool and hot tub is ok. The pool doesn't open until 12 noon, so my kids were without activities until then and it closes at dusk. By the time the pool does open, the whole campground is there and the pool is very small to accommodate all that wish to use it. The hot tub (the one that wasn't broken and closed ) was also overly crowded and looked like it needed a good cleaning. While we were there, the female owner chased all the adults who had drinks out of the pool area and scolded them like small children. No one that I saw was being irresponsible or crazy, just a bunch of people relaxing and enjoying a red solo cup. So if you like to enjoy an adult cocktail...be warned, the owner will be yelling at you here too, apparently you can't have a drink anywhere but on your campsite. The Spring was closed the weekend we were there...I am sure that would have alleviated the over crowding at the pool...but apparently the river was over flowing, so ask that question before you go if you wish to swim in the spring, because apparently this happens a lot. The bathhouses in the new part where we stayed were moderately clean....they only have one shower for each male and female....so be prepared to wait on a shower. Twice during my stay I encountered a bathroom with no toilet paper....In my opinion this should be checked periodically through out the day...maybe they could leave some extra in there if they don't check often. I read a lot of people who gave rave reviews of the restaurant. My group all found the food to be extremely mediocre for the price you pay...and one of our friends found a hair in his food from the older lady who served his burger. The ice cream was good though. They offered a bingo night and karaoke night while there....both nights were lackluster and if you don't get there early enough you have no where to sit and you're basically SOL...don't think about bringing a drink in there either. On the several occasions I did encounter the female owner I found her to be rude and patronizing to grown adults. I think she needs to realize grown adults come to her campground to cut loose for a weekend and have fun with friends, not to have her lecture people on fines she might incur for this or that. Overall I would have to say that this campground is just OK....It's in the middle of nowhere and we drove a long way to get there...for the price we paid I certainly expected more. My kids were bored most of the time, Perhaps we have spoiled them with campgrounds that have a multitude of activities...but besides the crowded pool there was nothing else to offer here. Younger children might enjoy the playground here...mine were just too old. Bottom line, it's a decent enough place...it should be marketed to seniors and snowbirds, not exactly ideal for...
