SEP 2022 Stay: It was nice, but Im not sure wed stay again. PLEASE do NOT waste your money on the "historic dining room"!

ROOM: We stayed 3 days in the Warren wing off the main cabin. Our room was small but nice with a large bathroom. No TV or a/c.. just an electric fan. That was the biggest downer because it was in the 90s and no one told us about this. We went to town and bought a box fan so we could sleep at night. Our room was never cleaned during our stay (this wasn't explained to us either as you'd expect for non typical hotel practices). Mattress was your standard box spring.

POOL: Nice and warm (95-100). Water looked clean. Railings are rickety and badly need fixed.. We ordered a drink from the poolside bar and it was OUTRAGEOUSLY priced.. nearly $20 and TINY. Bar reeked of sour whiskey. No pool tables. Did have a juke box though it was useless while we were there. We left bc of the many employees cutting it up at a table making a scene and behaving obnoxiously... hollering and dancing provocatively to rap music with the juke box disabled.

FOOD: We made reservations for the alledged fancy schmancy dining room. Id never eat there again. We have much better restaurants, with better service, for a more reasonable price tag- back home and there in town. Lots of staff, but still no one at the hostess table when you come in. So, youre all dressed up for a nice dinner with reservations you made FAR in advance and you wait.. and wait. Nice, right? We ordered the ribeye and Oscar filet with a cesar salad. I was more impressed with flavor of the SALAD than the steak until I found a HAIR in it that wasn't mine (much too short).. Waitress didn't give a rip as shed already decided we were second rate when we didnt order alcohol. Her tip reflected that! We had to SALT the steak because it had so little flavor. The ribeye was AT LEAST 8 oz of gristle. Bernanaise sauce and crab was meteocre with strange flavor. Our waitress continued to behave like a greedy juvenile busying herself with alcohol tables only... chatting it up.. sneering at us... troubling herself to make an appearance at our table to ask about dessert ONLY after another staff member (it was THAT obvious our table was being neglected) refilled our drinks and told her to return (for Pete's sake!). Went without water half of the meal while watching her refill water at our two neighboring tables. Just FLAT ridiculous. Was it good? Eh.. its ok. Were we blown away as we shouldve been with the hefty price tag? Absolutely NOT. Highly recommend eating elsewhere (THE SALOON up the road was better and had more meat variety).

HIKING: We loved the 5 mile hike.. saw a deer, some quail, and there was a nice little creek. They had signs along the way but they didn't say a thing about where you were or how far you'd been.

Overall: Over hyped and under delivers. Service? What service? The best parts of our stay were the pool and the scenery. The buildings are old with lots of character and youre surrounded by mountain views.. though there really should be benches at the top of the lookout.. ya get up there and just stand. But, you can get views elsewhere for less and still visit the pool. Plus, I can recall just one person we interacted with during our stay who actually seemed happy to serve. Definitely not recommended for a special event like...

First and foremost it is with some regret that I have to NOT Recommend this hotel. While it could be called a lot of things resort is not one of them. We opted to stay in the Cabins, which was the highlight of the trip, This is a spacious cabin with heated floors, in the sleeping and bathroom. The large king size bed is nice, but the pillow need to go away. The water pressure in the showed is second to none, and the room was equipped with a Jacuzzi, which ok. Now, to the ugly, The grill, had the worst service I think i have ever experienced anywhere. We were promptly seated are order taken, and then watch them after 35 minutes of waiting give our food to another table, and we waited another 35 minutes for our food. While they did not charge us for the meal, you only get one time to make a first impression and it was missed. The Saloon, the service we were provided by the bartender was perfect, The male waiter not so much who literally told us he didnt care where we sat, but where we hat put the stools down because there was no other place to sit, was in his way of being able to get to water pictures. Now as for the atmosphere in the bar, the hotel does not prevent children from coming into the bar, nor running around the bar uncontrolled. There were children running around the bar no older then 4. I dont believe I have ever heard of this being allowed in any bar and make no mistake this is a full fledged bar. On to the main restaurant, They have a regular breakfast on Saturday and a brunch on Sunday, The breakfast I am sorry to say was just not good. We didnt stay for the brunch, as I would expected much of the same. For Dinner in the main Restaurant, how waiter was Shayne, and he was one of the highlights of the stay. He was spot on with his service, kept the table clean, and was always ready with replacement drinks, in addition his orange flombay was awesome and his overall attitude was perfect what one would expect from a resort even though this is clearly not a resort. Lastly the pool as it were, dont let the pictures on the website fool you, The hotel allows guest not stating at the hotel get day passes, and the kids throwing football in the pool, and jumping in from the sides, ruined what could have been a nice setting. Lastly, the spa, we had treatment there and it was average compared to other high dollar placed we had been. One note the massage therapist would not stop talking during the treatment, which kinda defeats the purpose to get a relaxing massage. The whole experience was regrettable and we will not be returning. There are way too many other places to checkout with better offerings for the money. If you have kids and are prone to allowing them to just do whatever, this may be the...

We booked Chico Hot Springs Resort & Day Spa for a "splurge" night on our honeymoon across the country. Little did we know, we would actually pay double for the "splurge". We spent a significant amount of money at Chico between our room, the spa, drink and dinner...twice? Please be sure to either not pay cash or dont give your room number. We spent the afternoon at the pool and treated ourselves to drinks. The attendant requested our room number to "charge to the room". I insisted on paying cash and tipping in cash. We gave the room number when he persisted but followed with "but we will pay with cash". We then ventured inside to the restaurant where we ordered dinner, once again they insisted on knowing the room number. We also paid cash for dinner, handed the receipt, cash and bill folder to the server and left. At check out the next morning we were shocked to see the drink and dinner charged on the bill. We immediately brought it to the attention of the clerk at the desk. He looked through the receipts from the restaurant from the night before. A whole stack of receipts and ours wasn't in there. He returned and told us he "had no record of the transaction" and "Im sorry I dont handle that, you will have to call and speak to a manager later." I called every day, every. single. day. and have been transferred, sent to voicemail, deferred, and not called back. Not a single call back! I did not leave a $175 tip to the server for less than mediocre service. I think you can see why there was no receipt for our service. Seems the server pocketed our cash and "charged the room". Chico Hot Springs Resort & Day Spa flat out stole from us and has made no attempt to rectify their crime, which is what it actually is, a crime. I would also like to make potential future guests aware of the cabins on the hill. If you are considering staying in one, dont. They are super tiny. The carpeting is not even carpeting, its paper thin fabric that is so old and worn it's literally shredding. The cabins have no updates since the 70's? 80's? There were 2 outlets in the whole cabin. The beds were small, we couldn't even sleep together, on our honeymoon. The only positive, the rooms were clean. Hats off to the cleaning service. Chico Hot Springs Resort & Day Spa you have far exceeded my disappointment. I'm beyond upset we spent any money here but I'm grateful it was only one night. If you are considering this resort, I'd think twice. The pool doesn't make it worth it. There are far better...

I'll start with the positive. The scenery is beautiful and the hot spring was relaxing. Let me preface this portion of the review by saying maybe we expect more from a place that calls themselves a resort and spa, but this is our opinion. The people that we shared our discontent with that were staying there at the same time did not share our thoughts and they called it "rustic". Our opinion is that it is not being maintained. Starting with the room, I was a little thrown back that they would have a page in their room book showing me how much to tip. I would think that would depend on the service.... Additionally, the room had a smell to it. When my wife went to turn on the fan, she immediately noticed that there was at least 1/4 inch of dust on it so we couldn't turn that on...unless we wanted dust all over the beds. The door to the room had a large gap under it and the wind blowing in all night was a little loud. The bathroom floor was sticky and we did not feel it was cleaned at all before we came in. In the hot springs area, maintenance also seemed to be an afterthought. In a resort that charges what they do, you would expect that area which is what they advertise would be one of their main focuses. Grass growing out of the blocks by the pool is such an easy fix. It just made me feel like they either didn't care or they just didn't have the man power to keep up with the maintenance needed for a resort. I was told that the food is the main thing here, but we didn't have a chance to eat at the restaurant. Maybe that would have pushed the rating up... This place could be so cool and it looks great from the outside as you pull up to it with the mountain in the background. I guess we were just a little disappointed. It was supposed to be the highlight ending to our trip.

My overall experience here was very nice - friendly people, great hot springs, quiet surroundings. But the rooms were fairly bare bones. I know they’re going for a rustic feel, but not even a TV in a king size room that you’re paying luxury rates for in 2024? I appreciate rustic decor, but it was almost as if they’re using it as an excuse to not decorate. They don’t even have real locks inside, only a chain. The bed was pretty terrible, lot of motion transfer and my sleep was disturbed at best both nights I stayed here. There are no thermostats in the rooms either and the window won’t stay open, so good luck if you’re staying here in the summer (which we thankfully did not). Please also note that some of the comparatively cheaper rooms don’t even include a private bathroom and you have to use a shared bathroom. I guess that’s one way to ensure an early-1900s feel. I will review the restaurants separately, but considering that this resort is in such a remote location as to need a 30 minute drive to even get a basket of fries, I would have really appreciated it if their restaurants didn’t close up so early. They have a poolside grille and saloon but they stop serving food at 9pm. This is exclusionary towards younger clientele who might wish to eat after 9pm like we did. Alas I had to content myself with a box of Pringles and some jerky. They do have an attached spa that you almost have to hike up to from the main lodge, but it closes at 4pm and they don’t pick up most of the time. All in all, good resort for the hot springs, but the amenities have a lot of room to improve.

I’ve photographed many weddings at Chico Hot Springs in Pray, Montana. This historic hot springs wedding venue has everything to offer couples looking for an authentic Montana wedding day, regardless of the season. Its location in Paradise Valley offers arguably some of the best mountainous views in the valley. This venue property has great diversity of western landscape that makes for beautiful, scenic wedding photos, especially for the wedding couple that is willing to hike. Well worth it! Comfortable lodging and a numerous relaxing soaks in the hot pool, you and your guests likely won’t want to leave. But it’s close proximity allows your guests to easily make day trips into Yellowstone National Park or take in some BBQ and live music in nearby Emigrant, MT. Chico’s advantage is the wedding venue’s size and multitude of beautiful spaces to host a celebration, big or small. The Field of Dreams ceremony location shines in MT glory under the backdrop of Emigrant Peak. Your wedding reception will be memorable regardless of it being in the Convention Center, Wine Cellar, Garden Pavilion or under a lawn tent. This historic landmark is sure to please you and your guests and make for a truly unforgettable wedding day. I discover something new every time I go. It’s a wonderful place. I highly recommend it!
