A step back in time I happened to find this little motel as a dot on Google Maps when my internet service wasn't functioning properly. I was greeted by a very kind gentleman late in the evening on our trip back up north from visiting Branson & Arkansas. He got us in a room very quickly which I was grateful for. The key itself brought me back to road trips as a child. We stayed in room 24 at the end. It still has a bottle opener. I was quite surprised by the cleanliness as it's old building. It's much cleaner than a majority of chain hotels that are much newer. The beds are lower to the ground than usual and very firm so if you have mobility issues this may not be ideal for you. The water pressure is fantastic. There's a park across the street if you have kids that need to get some energy out. The stay comes with a free cooked to order breakfast and the individual's that staff it are a joy. So friendly and accommodating. It feels so welcoming. We all really enjoyed our breakfast. Hot, fresh, and served with a smile in such a cute environment. Next time we come through I hope it's early enough to catch dinner...

I was given a "non-smoking" room, 22, but everything smelled of smoke. The ceiling panels are yellowed with years of smoke---see pic 1. The carpet, chair, everything smells of years of smoke. The woman (who I think lives there) in the room next to mine (which is labeled as non-smoking) sometimes has the ashtray inside, sometimes outside---see pic 2 (and when smoking outside, the stink comes right in). Room 8 (or 6?) smells so bad, of who knows what, that I gagged walking in front of it with its door closed.

They need to get rid of the long-term renters that are doing this, clean up the place, replace the carpet with new flooring, and get rid of those old ceiling panels. At the very least, if the room smells of smoke and there are long-term renters smoking in an adjacent non-smoking room, then don't rent the room as non-smoking. Things in the room seemed clean because I didn't see any bugs or hairs, but even the sheets smelled funny. The renting public deserves better.

I tried to find someone to get a different room, and I even texted the pic of the ashtray, but...

The staff and service was great. Very friendly and accommodating. The rooms however, need work. I asked for a non-smoking room. Upon arrival I noticed most of the doors have a “non-smoking” sticker on them, but all 3 rooms we booked reeked like decades of cigarette smoke. We went through a cocktail of air fresheners to try and mask the smell but nothing helped. Next, the carpet. It was damp and sticky. The door locked, but had a thin air gap around the frame letting BBQ smoke/smell into the room from our neighbor grilling in the parking lot. The beds were fine but the pillows were flat. The bathroom door could not be shut or locked. There were cigarette burns on a set of the bed sheets and all along the tub in the bathroom. For me, I couldn’t get past the smell. We booked 2 nights but only stayed one because I chose to sleep in our car rather than in the room. We checked out at 9:30am and had breakfast there. I was still charged for 2 days for each room although we...
