It was brought to my attention via FB that this Owner was claiming a review of his lodge on Y3lp stated that they used cameras in the bedrooms. I went to see what others have reviewed and neither in my review from 3 years ago nor any other review said anything about cameras in the bedroom. I did however see lots of other reviews about the rules he post EVERYWHERE, and how he keeps deposits. I have copied my review below that describes my visit experience. I am also attaching copy of the email they owner sent over a year after review was posted threatening me to remove my review, which I did not as it was very truthful. With any reviews you take the good with the bad, so If you do plan to stay here just make sure you protect yourself. Take a video of the entire place when you arrive and when you leave. And don’t you dare leave out a crock pot, chair, or leave Ibe in the sink ⭐️ Not very happy with this establishment. We stayed here beginning of April. Owner watched the house cameras the whole time. He actually called 4-5 times to tell us to close the door. He emailed us at 10pm the day of departure informing us that we would be charged our deposit. His claims were nothing more than normal use. Complained that chairs were left out, ice was left in the sink, a crockpot was left on the counter. Claimed that his entire cd collection was ruined, when our group literally only used 2 of the karaoke cd's. Then only after I noticed that he did not refund all of our deposit, I emailed asking for an itemized list of damages. He said that he found cigarette butts on the ground and by the front door. This is completely false because no one used the front door or the porch. And the cigars that were smoked in the rear of the house were picked up the next day when we cleaned the outside area. His comments were very rude and his response was: "Here is your itemized statement, $300 for smoking. Even on his clean up policy it states that if any cigarette butts were found on the outside there would be a $100 charge. However, how many people have stayed in the lodge since our stay? He says that he may even bill is more when he finds more damages. We cannot be held responsible for damages that new renters could be potentially making. The good thing that we have on our side, is that we took a video of the entire place upon arrival and departure. Due to the fact that last year he charged us for a tear in a 10 year old leather couch. This place is very unseasonal when it comes to their expectations of normal wear and tear. We even left a $40 tip for the cleaning crew as he asked. If they wanted everything placed back in the exact spot that it was in, they should mention that in their contract. But to charge me because you felt you could because a chair wasn't put away or a crock pot was left out, and ice was left in the sink?? If I would have emptied the ice in the yard, he would have complained about mud. RENTERS BEWARE-PROTECT YOURSELF- TAKE A BEFORE AND AFTER VIDEO. Email May 15, 2016 I can't bring a complaint against yelp .. However I will bring legal action against you. The negative review is slander and considered Oral Defemation and Is consider a civil wrong (tort) and can be the basis for a lawsuit. I have photographs,Phone calls of your apologies from my answering machine and will get the sheriffs report and a detailed damage report with witnesses. I would prefer not to file my complaint. I will If that slanderous review is not removed within 7 days. I take this very seriously. You stayed 2 times and caused major damage both times .. I have details of both stays,Signed contracts, policy agreements, payments and a 1/2 dozen witnesses to the damages. I favor a peaceful resolution .but will do what is necessary. Read moreOriginal Review 6/25/17 I understand the previous renters may have left the place in poor shape but I don’t think there should be numerous signs posted all over the house threatening to take your whole deposit away if you make the slightest mistake. You can be charged $50 if you lose a basketball or dodgeball. You could be charged $150 if you lost one poker chip. You could it be charged hundreds of dollars if the owner found cigarettes by the pool or deck (which we found two and we are no smokers in a group) and several other threats about losing your deposit. The linens were old. They reminded me about my grandmother had in her spare bedroom. There wasn’t any blinds or curtains in the bathroom!! If you were sitting on the deck you could see right up in the bathroom. There were only TVs in the basement in the living room. If the guys wanted to watch the game in the basement and the girls wanted to sit in the living room and chat, the kids have nowhere to unwind after a fun day. I will say there are a lot of fun games in the garage/game room. And the basketball court was impressive. The pool in newly added cover deck with the biggest here with our group. The house is very nice but I didn’t feel like I could fully relax because I was too worried about making a mistake that will cost us our deposit.
Updated Review 6/9/19 I posted a review almost 2 years ago and the owner of the property keeps commenting then deleting only to repost about how they have so many 5 star reviews and they have such a high customer return rate. I’ve also seen that the owner has posted snotty remarks and other reviews. It doesn’t seem very professional in my opinion. There is a re-occurring theme and all of the reviews but I have less than 5 stars...The Owner/Management being petty.
I even made a point to list some of the awesome amenities that they have!
If you have such a high return rate and SO many 5 star reviews, why do you keep coming back to comment...
Read moreJust like other reviews, I'll piggyback that he will find anything (aka just make up lies) to keep some (or most) of your deposit. He will watch you on the cameras outside. He will show up at the house if anything outside is left on/open, even for a very short amount of time. He will accuse you of leaving cigarette butts, even if you clean thoroughly and know there weren't any. He will threaten to (or actually) charge you for "late check out" even if you are only 10 minutes late leaving (and show up before check out and just sit in the driveway). I'm sure he will also reply to this review with broken sentences, a threat to get it taken off (probably why there aren't more of these), and conduct an investigation on when we stayed. I would love to give specific examples but his response to reviews and any communication from him is frightening, so I'll refrain.
It was a cool house to stay in, but I would suggest not touching anything while there. If you do, he will probably accuse you of damaging something or leaving something dirty. Just sit inside.. don't touch anything.. don't use the amenities.. don't turn any lights on or open any doors.. or you'll be in BIG trouble and out some money. If they have to do any clean up after you leave, he'll keep your money. As if owning and renting out a property requires no work at all between guests..
They could have had quite a few people go back home and recommend this cabin to a lot of people and had returning customers. Instead, we won't be going back and will recommend against...
