This review is for the Hillside during October 2025. It is hard for me to rate this stay as from first appearances everything looked really great. However, when I consider the $1200 we paid for two nights I have to consider my high expectations, which were not met. This property shows very well for Instagram, but that's about it, when you actually stay here you realize all the very annoying quirks and the updates that are much needed. I will upload pictures of the problem areas in the bathroom (sliding door scraped badly, do not like the shower floor for both how it feels and also how stained it looks and the wood must harbor mold/mildew. Also, the baseboard is badly damaged.) Other issues include a dishwasher that never worked (we did all the things that are listed in the binder - the binder is one joke after another of what to do when things aren't working, so the owners are aware of all the issues, also the binder needs updating big time. For example the binder and emails say that the road is gravel and difficult in the winter, however, it's since been paved so it doesn't make sense when you arrive, menus in the binder are also outdated), the record player needs the needle replaced, the coffee grinder did not work to grind to fine for the espresso machine, the espresso machine - that you need to watch a 5 min YouTube video to understand how to work it, when the video isn't even the same model of the machine (the one in the video grinds the coffee in the machine itself, totally different model), just get a simple Nespresso machine where there is no learning curve, I'm on vacation, I want it to be easy. The AC never worked either, luckily it was very cool at night so we just turned it off and opened windows, would not want to stay here in the summer. (Owner will say it was switched to heat?? Why?? It was 70 degrees in the day and if the control box said it was set to cool, 70 degrees, why was it blowing out heat when the room was reading at 77?) It just felt like one thing after another. Why was this not built with top of the line appliances that actually work? And then to top it off, there is a $125 cleaning fee but you are expected to take your own garbage to their dumpster, at the end of the very long and hilly drive (so we had to put it in our car, nasty), and do your own dishes. The cleaners want a tip (they leave their Venmo, PayPal AND Cashapp, very tacky). Also, when I entered the front door at 3pm check in day, a spider web went all in my face. Definitely not clean. I cannot recommend this place and I would not stay here again. Three weeks prior we stayed at Columbia Woodlands in the Dover/Amish area and that blows this place away. That is true modern luxury and worth the high end price, this place does not justify the cost and needs a lot of updating (please update the couch as well, it's very worn and the rugs are tripping hazards).

I had an amazing stay at The North. I went for a "retreat" for myself. Simply to spend time alone in the woods and recharge. This was the PERFECT spot to do so. Secluded yet not too far from necessities and things to do (I have been to Hocking Hills before, so I chose to do literally nothing). You really can cook here, the kitchen is definitely gourmet with so many thoughtful things provided to use in culinary adventures, so my advice would be to stop at the Wal-Mart in Logan for fresh foods. (I came from the east, not sure what there is if you are coming from a different direction.) There isn't a small local option to support or I would have. Grandma Faye's has some necessities, but not things like meat and produce. The Sonos system was perfect as some new music I was anxiously awaiting was released the Friday of my stay. I cranked it up loud that morning while enjoying my coffee and breakfast. I loved my daily lattes that I didn't even have to leave the cabin for. I can't wait to book another stay, but can't decide if I want the same place or to try another one.

I booked Idyll Reserve for a quick birthday getaway within driving distance of Pittsburgh, but unfortunately the experience fell far short of expectations.

We couldn’t stay in the cabin we originally booked because the hot tub broke and they needed to work on it. The cabin we were moved to looked beautiful and photographed incredibly well—there’s no denying the style is on point and it’s clear these cabins were built with Instagram in mind. But once you look past the aesthetics, there are just too many problems and cut corners to be able to truly enjoy the stay or want to return.

When we arrived at Cabin 1, we found two portable air conditioners duct-taped into the living room and bedroom windows. On a 90-degree day, the cabin never cooled below 79 degrees. This was especially stressful because we brought our pug, who is heat-sensitive, and we had to drive around in the car to keep her comfortable in the afternoons.

It really felt like all the money went into furniture and lighting while everything else was the cheapest possible option. At this price point, I wasn’t expecting luxury appliances, but I did expect functional basics. Instead, I had to light the range with matches because the igniter didn’t work, the fridge beeped loudly every time it was opened, the dishwasher never worked despite following the manual for 20 minutes, and the cookware and utensils were bargain-basement quality.

Maintenance and attention to detail are also sorely lacking. Pathway lighting didn’t work, which made walking at night unsafe. Several lights in the cabin were out. Owners claim they didn’t know about these issues, but with internet-enabled thermostats and obvious AC workarounds, that’s just not believable.

We were promised a one-night credit for all the inconvenience, but despite multiple follow-ups, no credit was ever given.

Overall, these cabins might be a different experience in spring or fall, but the open summer availability and heavy discounts should have been a red flag. A beautiful aesthetic can’t make up for poor functionality, lack of upkeep, and...

I recently had the pleasure of renting a luxury cabin to stay in for a girls weekend and I cannot express how impressed I was with my stay!! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with stunning views and top-notch amenities. The cabin was immaculate, with modern decor that made me feel like I was in the most luxurious high-end hotel. One of the standout features of the cabin was the kitchen – we love to cook together! It was fully equipped with everything we needed to cook delicious meals during our stay. I also appreciated the extra touches like high-quality cookware and an outdoor grill….the owners haven’t missed a detail. The bedrooms were SO spacious and comfortable, with the coziest beds and fancy linens. The outdoor area was just as impressive as the inside of the cabin. The large outdoor dining/living space made us feel like we were always immersed in nature, and the hot tub was the perfect spot to soak and stargaze. The location of this cabin was also a huge plus. It was just a short drive away from several great hiking trails and scenic viewpoints, and an easy drive to Logan and Athens for shopping and dining. Our experience at this luxury cabin was nothing short of fantastic. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly...
