It was my first visit to LBI. My husband found this little motel and it was perfection. Just steps away from anything one would need for a beach get-away, and a short drive to everything else. We loved having a mini fridge (with freezer to refreeze our cooler ice packs) and microwave in the room which allowed us to heat up the dinner we brought from home, then we walked across to the beach with our beach chairs to have a little sunset picnic. After dark we walked back to the hotel and enjoyed the mesmerizing sound of crashing waves from the roof top sitting area. Judy was amazing! She greeted us warmly and offered many interesting tidbits of the area. As she's lived there since the 70s, she knows every nook of the island, which for us included some recommendations for vegan restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable, and although on the first floor, just above street level, we never felt 'seen' by passers-by. We appreciated the A/C unit even though we ended up opening the windows at night for the fresh ocean air. We also appreciated the adjustable shower. Sometimes the showers are placed so high up, that I (being only 5'4") end up soaking my hair from above when all I wanted was a shower. The shower faucet had an adjustable arm so it was possible to shower without getting soaked from above. The only possible suggestion I could make would be to bring your own pillow. The pillows we had were very thick and hard foam slabs. I'm sooo glad I travel with my own pillow but my husband had a rough sleeping experience as the pillows were so hard and thick. BUT apart from that, I can't imagine any place better situated on LBI and if we ever have the opportunity to return to LBI, we will definitely stay here. Thank you to Judy for making our stay...

Read moreMy wife and I spent a kid-free weekend in LBI in mid-September for our fifteenth wedding anniversary and we were looking for a quiet, clean, updated place to stay that wouldn't break the bank. The Jolly Roger seemed to fit the bill when we booked our stay and I'm happy to say, having now stayed there, it delivered on those expectations.
You can tell the new owners are putting a lot of effort into updating and improving the look and feel of the motel. Our room was clean and the furniture was updated; we loved the semi-private covered outdoor space attached to our room. We utilized the rooftop deck both nights before dinner to share some special bottles of wine together; the view is amazing and the sunsets spectacular (the perfect weather helped!). And perhaps what we noticed most as parents of two younger children was how quiet it was there. Lying in bed early in the morning all we could hear were the ocean waves, it almost felt unnatural at first but rest assured, we adjusted quickly! I'll grant we were there after peak season but I imagine it's fairly quiet there year-round given the location. We took advantage of the beach chairs that were offered to guests but didn't get to use the bikes they had available, love the option though. A special call-out to the staff who accommodated my request to have flowers delivered and in our room prior to our arrival, thanks staff!
Overall it was a wonderful experience and a refreshing respite for us. My parents also get a 5-star review for watching the kids all weekend! We would definitely return in the...
