Rolling Waves Beach Cottages — Hotel in Longboat Key

Wonderful! If you’re looking for a full service resort, this isn’t it. But if you’re looking for peaceful Old Florida accommodation, you’ve found it! There are just 8 individual cottages located at the very quiet end of Longboat Key Island. I stayed for a week in early September and the beach was practically deserted - most days I met just two or three people all day. It’s wonderfully peaceful and quiet with no bustling tourists or loud bars. The cabins are extremely well equipped and the owner/manager provides everything you need. Rolling Waves has a nice guest laundry, free beach furniture, a library, DVD collection, cable TV, Wi-Fi, a very nice fire pit (with free fire wood!), ample recliners, a hammock, and a nice shower area to clean up after coming off the beach. Each cabin also has a Webber charcoal grill and a fully equipped kitchen (gas oven and range). The cabins are air conditioned and the bed is super comfortable. Shelley, the property manager is Great!! Very responsive and very nice! The cottages are so perfect! Everything you need, besides food! The bed was SUPER comfy! And our guests enjoyed the sofa bed! Who ever says they enjoy a sofa bed, right?? I can attest, it was comfy! Laundry facility on-site! Outdoor shower which is awesome after a day at the beach. The beach access and private beach are PHENOMENAL!!!! It was hardly busy and there is so much wildlife to enjoy! An excellent place to kick back and relax!!! I will say, time of year makes a huge difference. I went in June and it was clear skies and calm waters, and just Heaven. September was different, lots of sea weed in the water, it rained alot. This was all Mother Nature, nothing against RWC. If you want a dreamy stay, I'd go in the summer months. But if chillin in the cottage, enjoying a book and rain suits you, this may be your Heaven! We needed to get away from some stress and I'm so glad we chose RWBC. The on-site manager, Shelley, is amazing! She was efficient, knowledgeable, helpful and welcoming. The cottage was very clean, well organized, and perfectly located in proximity to the beach. The property has many amenities that are subtle, yet very welcome touches! We were able to save money by cooking our own meals at the cottage. They have all sorts of things to use during your time on the beach from chairs, umbrellas, towels, frisbees, and water toys. There is a hammock to relax in while listening to the waves rolling in, a perfect spot to sit and enjoy your morning coffee, and an awesome fire pit with plenty of comfortable seating for evening relaxation. During our stay, Tropical Storm Colin made an appearance. Shelley communicated what the emergency plan was, if it was needed. She was all about our safety. We were very well taken care of.
