DO NOT trust these people!!! They are dishonest and try to play games with your reservation. You cant be sure your reservation will good or not after you arrive, or even what price will hit your credit card or how many nights they will actually charge you for. Its truly unbelievable. Heck of way to plan a trip.
They were very disorganized and understaffed. They seemed nice on the phone but charged me incorrectly and refused to correct the mistake. Charged for 2 nights but only booked one night and stayed only one. I have proof of my location and that I was not anywhere near their town the night they charged me. We talked with front desk 3 times clearly stating the night we needed. No text or email confirmations received. Now having to go through dispute process with credit card company. We were clear in booking only one night with 2 beds, talked with the front confirming what we needed, then at 8pm the night we were staying they tried to make us move to a new room without 2 beds after we just moved our stuff into the room 2 hours earlier when we checked in at 6pm.
Not smart business people as we have many friends around the lake and many who fish and planned to look at staying there in the future. We are letting every single one of them know to avoid Hotel Lake Anna because they cant manage it well, and you cant be guaranteed that your reservation is actually good or not, or what they will charge you. They just can not be trusted. It was truly the worst experience with hotel management I have ever come across. We found other places on this lake that actually charge less and are better. If you plan to stay there, bring a tent and a sleeping bag because you might just need to use it on a local camp ground.
Update 5/14/24: After talking with front desk several times and them telling us they will take care of their misunderstanding, and that they will call back... they have still not taken care of things or called back. In 2 conversations, they actually tried to change their story which was simply amazing. They placed a charge for the night we didnt stay which was actually before we parked our car in the lot the following morning and we went fishing. We came back around 6pm to check in and were charged for the prior night that we never booked. This place is a total scam, so beware. They do not give you booking confirmations...

My stay here was so comically bad that I feel compelled to write out the whole story.
Arrived at the hotel to check in, and the property manager says, “Your room is ready, but the AC in there is broken. My husband is on his way to fix it - if you hear a knock at the door, that’s him.”
Me: “No problem. I’m not immediately using the room anyway - I’ll just leave and come back later.”
Except I wasn’t given a key. Had to return to the front office to get the key.
Get to the hotel around 9pm that night, key in hand, and try to unlock the door. Nothing. I tried for 20 mins to unlock the door, as did two friends who were with me. No luck. I call the property manager who arrived with a different key to the room - that doesn’t work either.
After 2 phone calls and half an hour of struggling, the property manager shows back up with a key coated in Vaseline. Says, “This usually does the trick”, successfully unlocks the door, then hands me the key coated in vaseline slime.
I enter. The AC is still broken.
I sleep there anyway. Imagine my surprise when I try to leave the next morning, and CAN’T. No matter which way I turn the handle, or which way I turn the lock, the door will not open. The window doesn’t open either, so I’m trapped. A friend tried to open the door from the outside, which didn’t work either.
Called the front desk. No response. Called the property manager’s other number. No response. Called the number listed on the hotel’s website. No response.
I had to call the fire department to come get me out of the room. Shout out to Donald, Andrew, and the crew of the Spotsylvania fire station #2. Thanks, guys.
Upon asking the front desk for a refund, they said, “…Is there anything we can give you to make you not want a refund? Can we just… give you another room?”

Read moreBED BUGS!!!! STAY AWAY!!!!! Unfortunately I had to give this place at minimum 1 star to even leave a review however I would not actually give them any stars! This place is a complete DUMP! We were forced to stay one night in this hell hole because it was literally the only place that had a vacancy in the area after we arrived to Lake Anna late and had issues getting into the nice house that we actually rented.....Where do I start.... First of all they charged us $80.00 to stay in this place for 1 night!!! Upon check in we were given (1) 16oz bottle of water to share and were told not to drink the water from the sink (it came out brown when you turned it on)... The room itself was old, not clean, and just smelled funny in general. It was not until the next morning that the real issues started. Upon waking up and seeing the place in the daylight we realized that there was a SERIOUS BED BUG issue! They were everywhere! To top it off we were covered in bites as well. We had to go to the grocery store to purchase trash bags to contain all of our clothes and personal belongings until we were able to get to a washing machine to clean everything on hot water. We tried to go and speak with the rental office to tell them of the situation and ask for our money back they said "NO", yelled at us, and told us we brought the bed bugs!!! How ridiculous is that! They refused to refund our money and now we have to go seek a bed bug attorney to try to deal with the situation. We were staying in Room #'s 117 and 119. We took pictures of the room and the bugs and the bites before we left. If anyone is thinking about staying here I would SERIOUSLY RETHINK IT unless you want to potentially end up in our situation. The pics attached are of the bed bugs that we found in and...
