The Top Story — Hotel in Loyalton

We loved Wendy and Don's warm hospitality and the cozy farmhouse stay. We were in Loyalton for a big family Thanksgiving, and enjoyed having some extra space and privacy to ourselves at the Top Story. Their place is filled with numerous thoughtful touches and the beds are the most comfortable I've experienced. Despite the chill outside (14°F!) we were warm and snug. Our 4-year-old was ecstatic to see frost crystals on our car in the morning and even more jubilant to discover the ducks. The kitchen is well appointed and it was convenient to be able to cook some of our own meals before venturing out to the family gathering (there are also a few restaurants in town but their hours are limited). Highly recommended -- we look forward to returning -- and thank you! This was truly one of our best and most memorable...

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! Our daughter was graduating from a leadership camp in Portola, so we made our stay into a weekend. Wendy was kind enough to let us know about local happenings and make recommendations so that we could make reservations for events and restaurants there ahead of time. The house is set up perfectly with a private space that was very easily accessible, including parking in the driveway. It is decorated so thoughtfully with antiques and cozy furniture. The owners have worked very hard to ensure that guests have a pleasant stay (the homemade peanut butter cookies were the best!). Communication was above and beyond prompt and helpful. The location is quiet and within walking distance of everything we needed. We wouldn't change a thing and will definitely stay here again...

Wendy is a wonderful host and friend. She is very responsive, but gives you plenty of personal space. The town of Loyalton is a very pleasant, quiet place to walk around and is nearby to many good hiking locations.

I got this airbnb as a temporary spot while moving. Wendy was an unbelievable in reaching out to the community and helping us find a place to rent in town within 2 days of arriving! It just goes to show that Don and Wendy will make sure that you are taken care of when you are staying...
