I was almost killed at Cartier Park! Ludington leaders decided to hold a middle of the night deer cull at Cartier Park, leaving the time they would do it unannounced and not blocking off the area from the campground and cemetery side. In broad daylight on 3-12-24, I saw an armed federal agent on an ATV driving around in the middle of the park and shortly thereafter, shots rang out. At least 8 more shots would occur before darkfall, possibly killing many of the park's beloved deer, and I was just lucky that I saw them first. Why would anyone go to this place for camping when they not only kill what families come to this park for, but endanger the public by not adequately protecting them during a deer slaughter?

I absolutely loved my stay at this park. Dog friendly, awesome wi-fi, wonderful people, clean bathrooms, quiet, trails, and access to a Lake Lincoln with a great dock to fish or watch the sun setting and well priced. Areas to launch a kayak or small boat too. And a fun playground for the kiddos. Just an amazing location. Right down the road from Stearn's Park where you can see a magical sunset or go explore downtown Ludington.

Nice little campground. Lots of walking and bike paths through the park. You never know what you may encounter on one of your walking tours. The kids have been searching (and finding) Ludington rocks when they go for walks for years. Not sure who hides these rocks but they have so much fun searching for them. Russ the manager at the park is a very nice guy.

My family, friends and I have been camping here for about 7 years!!! It is much quieter and less congested than the State Park. It is conveniently located to both beaches in Ludington and offers rustic to fully equipped sites that are good in size. Decent bathrooms and lots of paved trails, and a dog park connected to the trail that we LOVE! The staff has always been friendly and takes care of any concerns in a timely fashion. The manager Russ is a constant presence, he pays attention to what is going on at the sites, and gets to know many of the campers who return year after year. He has a great rapport with the campers from what I have witnessed first hand and from a distance. This is not an easy job handling all kinds of personalities coming and going every day and feel he is fair from what I have seen over the last 7 years. Having said that, he happened to be checking on us at our campfire the other night after he went to handle a complaint that came in over in the tent section. Russ returned shortly thereafter. Being the inquisitive person I am I asked what the protocol is. He stated its a warning.....next step can be an officer visiting the site to reinforce the warning he gives. Not long after that another call came in regarding the same site and Russ had to leave again to handle it. We could occasionally hear the site from where we were located. Shortly after that the officer arrived. It is what it is....campers are given a warning, if you do not comply there is intervention. It is clearly stated in the campground rules. Ironically, we had a complaint on our first day (we stay for a month) of our little dogs barking inside our camper. We returned and took them for a walk to relax them and reacquaint them with the campground. I did not bash the campground or manager.....my dogs were barking and I complied. Rules are rules. Keep up the good work Russ - we love the campground and enjoy our vacation time there. Every campground has rules....just like everything...

After reading quite a few reviews on here we decided to give this place a try due to it being close to a couple of really cool mtb trails and a short distance to a few more in another town. First off this place is far from quiet there is a major well traveled road right beside the campground. Second there is a local factory ( Great Lakes Casting Company 1.8 miles away) that works 6 days a week and fires up for the day at 6 a.m. and it is loud in a tent a camper might be different. Third we stayed 3 nights on the 2nd night a group came in and set up behind me and my son who is 9. This group of people decided to party all night until 5:30 a.m. when they decided to all get into a fight with each other which woke my son up and i think everyone else on the south side of the campground. A large amount of profanity and other words that no 9 year old should hear were being screamed for over a 1/2 hr. loud enough I'm pretty sure people in downtown ludington heard them. There was a gentelman in a City of Ludington truck who showed that morning around 10 a.m. and talked dire tly with the campers who were fighting he gave them a verbal warning. he never came over and apologized for the inconvenience or to let me know what was going on i had to ask the campers next to us. They let them stay!!! This blew my mind that they would allow someone to stay after their unacceptable behavior the night before. So on the third night the golf cart was out patrolling around our area this was just as annoying as them letting the campers stay because they drove by about every 10 min. Babysitting that site. The night before we saw the cart 3 times. There was a large group over the hill who decided to party until the early hours of the next morning loud music screaming and hollaring. I will say the rustic campsites are great plenty of shade and well layed out but the noise level and rif raf was just to much we wont...

This is an older campground. The south bath house is pretty old seems to be maintained well. The north bath house is more updated. There is a good variety of camp sites. Some nice rustic spots , some nice grassy spots , some near the road, full hook up or just water & electric sites. Close to town. We stayed at a site near the main road and the road noise wasn’t bad at all.

The only and main issue we had was our campsite and the sites around us had ALOT of cigarette butts and trash scattered on the ground.. Every single fire pit had garbage in it including ours. We thought we had cleaned out our fire pit prior to making a fire and must’ve missed something we smelled a plastic burning odor really bad from the first fire we made . We walked up to the south bath house and there was trash scattered on the grounds.(hair ties, plastic bags, cigarette butts, cellophane, plastic mesh,a large piece of green plastic in the fire pit next to our campsite) It appears as though staff does not clean up the campsite when guests vacate. The camp roads are dirt the dust isn’t too bad .

•REMINDER CAMPERS•

The fire pit is NOT for TRASH! Try to leave your campsite better than you found it!...
