This KOA is right off I-95 and I-74 which is super convenient. Grocery stores and many restaurants nearby. Door dash delivers too!. The staff was friendly and polite. The dog park is large and well kept. There is a smaller one near the entrance. Sites are level. We chose #53 with a patio and table with chairs as well as a picnic table, fire ring, and BBQ grill, all on a cement pad. There is even a grill brush provided for your use. The internet was not very strong out at our site so we used our hotspot. Not a huge deal for us but if you are counting on movies and gaming for the kids, it might be an issue. It rained fairly hard for hours and the two sites next to us took on a lot of water but because the driveways are rock, they had drained completely by morning. The camp store has all the small items you might need from food, beer, to RV supplies. Like all KOAs, you will pay double for the convenience. They also have local items for purchase as well. The gem of this KOA, (other than the A+ sites) is the small trail that follows along a canal behind the campground leading to a bend in the Lumber River. It is so picturesque with the moss hanging from the trees around this wooded pathway. It was beautiful and so quiet. There is a picnic table and trash can along the path if you want to go back and have your lunch in peace and quiet. Where the canal meets the river there are benches for you to sit in solitude and shake off the I-95 ugliness and mentally ready yourself for the rest of your trip. Lots of overnight RVs stopping in and leaving during our two-night stay but honestly, we didn’t even know when new ones arrived until we walked out and saw them there. The road noise from the freeway couldn’t even be heard over our A/C and even when it wasn’t running it wasn’t noticeable for the most part. You get used to it fast as the campground is just far enough away. This KOA in Lumberton is well maintained and quiet. We will make this a regular I-95 stopover. (We did not visit the pool, bathhouse/restrooms, playground, or use any of the available...

Read moreWe were going to stay at the Lumberton KOA on the first part of our South Carolina vacation, but we had a flat tire on the motorcoach.
With KOA 's cancellation policy, we could get no refund, so we moved the one-night stay to the end of our vacation.
KOA Lumberton, on either occasion, making the reservation or moving the reservation, failed to tell us that there was road construction all around the campground. To get in from the south, we had to meander through the country from I-95. To leave the campground to get to I-95 north we had to drive through the construction and narrow rough road, and even stop for the road construction itself.
KOA Lumberton (the attendant was very polite and friendly) also failed to tell us that there was actual construction going on in the campground, though it is needed very badly.
Earlier, I reserved a pull-through site as we tow a car behind our motorcoach. The site I got had the front bumper of the coach at the "street" and the rear bumper of the car at the edge of the other "street."
I use the term "street" because some were asphalt but most were broken, crumbled asphalt or dirt and gravel.
We had non- towing class C RV's on either side of us and the bigger motorhomes and fifth-wheels were all on larger sites. There were many vacant sites, large and small.
After we arrived, KOA Lumberton informed us that the water was to be turned off for a half hour at 10:30 the morning of our departure. As this was our last night out, I had to get up and do the flush out before the water was turned off, which stayed off more like an hour.
We camped there years ago when it was a Yogi Bear franchisee. Most of the roads and sites look like they haven't been improved since then. We saw some newer patio and tent sites. Even though the grounds maintenance people keep what's there well, it still looks neglected.
I was charged, with a discount, $71+. I'd have been better off a a rest area or a Walmart.
If this is...
