This was a last minuet trip for me and my children before my busy season at work. I had done the research and based it off of the weather and the conditions before booking. I did call to inquire about the season for the pool facilities because the open and close information was not listed on the website. I had to call 3 times on 2 different days to get a person to answer. When booking a tent site on the website it does not specify that check-in is only during the hours of 3-5. There was another disclaimer that was sent after I had booked and paid that informed me that we needed to be checked in before 5pm. That information would have been very important to have in the initial stages of booking especially for those traveling from further away as traffic up and down I-81 could cause people to easily miss that window. When we arrived for check in we were not notified of the river conditions or if there were any effects to our tent site. When asked specifically about how to reach out tent site we were given very vague directions after specifically asking and it seemed as if the desk attendant was in a hurry to get us out the door - we just made the 5pm check-in. When we did finally find the entrance to the trail I was shocked to find the steep stairway down to the tent sites. There were no pictures or mention of this as part of the "walk in" to the sites. We did easily find our original spot and all sites were clearly numbered I was thoroughly concerned to have myself and 2 children staying with a drop off into the very high water. I was able to call the afterhours number and speak with Ryan who was pleasant and helpful and let me know that we could move to a safer site and he would update the booking for me. Overall the site was as described. I was disappointed about the trash on the ground by the tent sites. I found several plastic bottles, plastic bags, and a broken beer bottle in our fire ring. I also did not see any posted signs prohibiting urinating or bathroom use at least 10ft away from the river. There was also no posted signs at the tubing entrance warning of the high water. In the morning I went to the welcome center to get the ticket I also purchased online for Luray Caverns which was not in my paperwork from checking in. I did give a different desk attendant the information about moving tent sites and letting them know about the trash. I was met with some very disheartening unprofessional blaming of other co-workers for things not being done instead of just taking responsibility and making changes that they could. I did decide to rent a golf cart at that time because taking small children up and down the stairs to use the restroom facilities and to go back and forth to use the few resort amenities that were available during our stay was worth it. There is also a path/trail/golf cart drive which was also steep and difficult to maneuver on foot. I was also frustrated on the second day that we were prevented from leaving the resort due to road construction. None of the staff made any effort to relay the closure myself or to other customers who were lined up in their cars for approximately 45min waiting for the road to open. We did enjoy our stay but the facility was mediocre. Website and marketing needs much updating and more information.

This will be a long and informative review of our recent stay at “glamp site 424” We brought our two small dogs recently. We didn’t know what would be provided so we definitely over packed. First and foremost- if you’re bringing dogs to a glamp tent- be advised that the opening doesn’t fully secure at the bottom (obviously) so if they don’t listen fully, they could escape, so just be prepared with leashes or a kennel, which we were, others weren’t and there was a loose dog. The rest of the tent is fully secure, it’s just the “door” area. We also set up our patio in a way so our dogs could have access to the outside and we could have the tent open without the fear of them escaping. They aren’t outdoor dogs by any means. Also, some glamp sites have two stairwells, so this wouldn’t work. So be advised. We also barricaded our inside when the tent was closed so they couldn’t get out as well. I have attached photos of what we had to do. It worked for us. If you have larger dogs this may or may not work. Onto non-dog things. They provide the following: dishes, silverware, some coffee/sugars, coffee maker, cups/glasses, plates and bowls, small dish soap and scrubby, pots/pans, strainer, cutting board, measuring cup, cooking utensils (no tongs) etc, no sharp knives (they had steak knives). You will need wood to charcoal for the grill outside (they do sell wood). There is a mini fridge and microwave. They provided some paper towels and toilet paper which lasted a family of three the whole weekend. You cannot use your own pans so don’t bother bringing them for the stove top. There is even some shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the bathroom. They provide pillows, fitting, flat sheet, towel, hand towel and wash cloth, two per queen and 1 per twin. There are wasps so I would bring some wasp spray if you please, they do come in the tent sometimes, but usually leave. We had a really nice time for the weekend. The river doesn’t last long but you can dock yourself somewhere, continue swimming etc. They have ping pong and cornhole which was fun as well. And a golf cart is a must have! Plenty of fishing in the river but early morning is the best option to avoid the river floaters or kayakers. You can walk everywhere but if you’re bringing things it is a hassle, and the golf cart is just a load of fun, plus it cools you off. We spent most of the time just driving around hanging out. I could see how a week there would get boring but a weekend trip was perfect. We will definitely be back, with much less stuff now that we know what they provide!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ Great Spot for a Family Weekend — Just Know What to Expect! We stayed Friday through Monday at Luray RV Resort and had a great time overall! As a family traveling with kids, there was plenty to keep everyone busy. Between the RC car track, BMX park, basketball, volleyball, tennis courts, and the playground, the kids were always on the move. It was definitely one of those campgrounds where you don’t need to pack a ton of entertainment—it’s all here! Floating the river was a highlight—easy access from the campground to the South Fork Shenandoah River, and we did about a 30-minute float. Heads up: if you walk just a few feet past the campground's exit point, there’s a public access spot with free parking that saves you a long quarter-mile walk back. Wish we’d known that the first day! The swimming area was really popular—cold water and crowded, but fun for the kids. There’s a small adults-only pool (nice touch), and someone is usually stationed at the slide, though there aren’t lifeguards. There’s also a small bar with snacks and drinks, which came in handy more than once. Things to know before you go: This is one of those places where a golf cart makes a huge difference. The resort is spread out, and getting to the river, pool, and activity zones can be a bit of a trek on foot—especially if you're hauling gear or small kids. Only downside? Not much staff presence and it kind of shows. A lot of folks weren’t following the rules—teens driving golf carts, dogs off leash, and lots of unsupervised kids just doing their thing. If that kind of chaos stresses you out, maybe request a quieter site. There are less crowded areas, but they’re a hike from the main attractions. Also, don’t expect epic views unless you're in the right spot—we were mostly blocked by other campers. We did love how close it was to Cooter's Place, and it really helped that now we’ve been once, we’ll know how to plan better next time. Despite a few quirks, we’re definitely planning to come back!

We booked a cottage for 2 nights here and were slightly hesitant based on the reviews from earlier this year when they reopened. The location was great and the cottages, like seemingly the rest of the resort, were new. I will say it’s less like cabin camping and more like tiny home living based off the cottage setup but we did see they had some cool yurts that were more tucked away closer to the woods that would’ve been cool.

With that said, it is very apparent they are still trying to figure out their processes. Checking in on a Wednesday afternoon was easy and the resort was almost a ghost town. They gave us our key and a bag that was supposed to be linens and towels. They give you wristbands so they know who is supposed to be there and a map with instructions how to get to your site. Upon getting to the cottage we realize that our bag had only towels, so I went back up front and the younger woman that checked me in was busy so another woman asked if I had a question, I told her I didn’t think there was any linens in my bag and she says “if you got your bag it’s all in there”… (mind you there is a rack about 5 steps behind her full of bags with linens and towels with post-it notes of site numbers on them) so not trying to be rude and maybe second guessing myself, I go back and empty it out…no linens, so I bring the whole bag back up and by that time the original woman was free and I say “yeah there’s no linens” she apologizes and literally turns around and finds that we had a 2nd bag. Which I appreciated and thanked her for…but why couldn’t the older woman just take a look the first time?? She was still sitting in the same spot and didn’t apologize to me for not checking if I had a second bag. Just kind of poor customer service from her particularly. Another miscommunication was when I asked about the Endless Caverns 4pm tour tickets we purchased with our online booking. It was already about 3pm on my 3rd visit to the lodge for linens so I asked if there was a specific time I had to be to the tour as it’s about 20 minutes down the road and I was told they do tours every hour up until 7. However upon arriving at the Endless Caverns they break the news that last tour happens at 4 and they haven’t done tours til 7 in “probably 20 years”. So they give me the scoop and while I’m there I ask if I can buy some firewood…which they look confused because they said “I didn’t think y’all could have fires over there.” I said “uhhh that wasn’t communicated to me and there was some burned wood in our fire pit when we got there so I’ll buy some just in case.” So bought some wood and when we got back I rolled the window down and sure enough I don’t think anyone had any campfires going, so to be safe we didn’t have one either. The only thing I could figure was there was so much straw being spread around areas due to construction and mud that maybe they didn’t want that catching on fire….but again no communication on that so I’m just guessing and to be fair maybe campfires were allowed and nobody else having them was just coincidence, never actually got clarification as the second night we got back late and just wanted to go to bed.

I guess to sum it up, this place has a great location but there’s a lot of kinks in their processes and communication. The pool only being open till 5 was a bummer as well as we wanted to go do things during the day and would’ve like to end the evening at the pool. The RV spots look pretty tight too as it started filling up Thursday night but that’s just an observation by someone who does...

I booked my camping trip about 2 months ago. I knew the campground was reopening after new owners purchased the campground and made many changes. When I called the gentlemen at the call center stated there was one site left. I stated I have a 43 foot fifth wheel and will the one available site accommodate it. The gentlemen stated it would. I arrived at the campground this past Friday. The staff did not let anyone in the campground until 2:00 PM. This caused a line of campers out into the four lane road. Once I was able to actually get off the road a gentlemen came to the truck and informed us my wife could go check in which my facilitate us getting onto our site. After 30 minutes of waiting we were finally on our way to the camp site. The road leading to the camp site is entirely too narrow, even for smaller campers. Once we arrived at the site I realized I was about have a challenge. The site appeared to be very small. I asked my wife did the person that assisted her ask her what size the trailer is. She said no. After over an hour of making multiple attempts, almost putting my truck off a bank and into a ditch, I backed my trailer into the site. While setting up the camper a man and woman walked up engaging my wife and I in conversation. They informed me they were quite impressed that I was able to get the camper into the site. I asked why were they so impressed. They stated the site we were on was limited to 25 foot campers. I informed them my camper is 43 feet. So after camping Friday and Saturday night I walked the campground to see how many open sites there were. I lost count. Many sites would have accommodated the 43 foot trailer much better than the one I was in. It was very clear to me the new owners of the campground rushed the opening. It is also clear the new owner attempted to maximize profits by cramming as many sites as possible into the campground. What the new owner doesn't realize is campers will not enjoy camping in the new sites due to the narrow roads and the proximity of neighboring campers. I love the location of this campground and the new owner did make some good improvements by adding a good size pool, pickle ball courts, bicycle track, and a remote control off road course. They just were greedy by putting too many camp sites.

Update: I was contacted by the parent company that owns Luray RV Campground. We had a long and productive conversation. The company representative was very honest about the responsibility of the company and failure to handle things properly. I was informed I would receive a full refund. I responded by saying I was not complaining to get a refund. I simply want the staff to fix the problems the occurred during my stay. I want to be able to visit again without all the issues I dealt with. I will return to this campground. The staff and management made some poor decisions. I fully believe they truly listened to what I had to share and the suggestions I made. I look forward to a new beginning on...
