First time here, definitely not the last. We LOVED this place. Not a single complaint. Just like anything else, it all depends on what you’re looking for. Sometimes we take the kids to campgrounds with water slides and tons of people, and sometimes we just want peace and quiet. This was one of those times. It was so tranquil and serene. Regarding things that may be a little different here: Don’t know about the quality of their WiFi because we travel with our own hotspots ALWAYS since we occasionally have to work while out, no issues with phone service though; Yes you’re a little ways from the bathrooms if you’re staying in the “lower part” but, our RV has them and it’s full hookup; there were no fire rings allowed but they provide a large friendly campfire on Saturday nights and we’ve also gotten pretty good at stovetop s’mores in the camper; yes there are some gravel roads... it’s the country. In Texas. And since we’re hauling a camper we’re in a truck. Our littles were able to ride their bikes and the toddler’s ride on toy all around the loop and they were clearly visible and had plenty of space. The creek was AWESOME! There is a little area at the end where you can see the tiny “falls” as it goes over some rocks on the bend. We were able to fish and I was surprised by how many gar we could clearly see coming to the surface and swimming along it. My husband saw what appeared to be a bass break the surface too. It was nice and dark at night, perfect for star gazing. Only minutes from San Antonio but felt like we were worlds away. I can’t say enough nice things about Teri. She is so welcoming and friendly. When I mentioned I forgot the chocolate bars for s’mores she met me up at the office where they had some for sale. Everyone is making sure to keep their distance right now to be safe and that is perfectly fine with me. Loved it and will...
Read moreActually, this is a very nice, very quiet RV Park. Staff was very friendly and helpful in answering questions about San Antonio and the park itself. Although it is close to I-35, (it's about a mile off), so the interstate traffic is all but impossible to hear. We did hear some very distant train horns in the distance, but so far away, we kinda liked it. Some sites have concrete pads but we were on a hard packed gravel site in the back of the facility which was fine with us! There are WIDE grassy spots between sites which we really liked - again adding to the quiet. WI-Fi was plenty adequate for our needs for email, etc. Good 50A and plenty of water pressure. The laundry room was very clean - small but nice and clean washers and dryers. All in all, a highly recommended RV park near all of the San Antonio things to see and do. Except...
The inlet road to the park is about a half mile of crushed concrete / gravel that creates an unbelievable dust storm when entering and exiting the facility. I mean, we've never seen such a mess! If you are a clean / neat freak like me, this is a deal breaker. We arrived in a spotlessly clean tag axle motorhome with freshly polished aluminum wheels. By the time we drove through the road to get to the rv park and to our site, our rig and towed SUV were COVERED in grey dust! I truly was astonished. So, I spent the rest of our arrival afternoon washing the motorhome and towed car. (not sure if washing was allowed but I didn't ask nor care). Of course the car got filthy in our comings and goings during our 8 night stay, but the motorhome still looked okay until we departed.
So, do we recommend Hidden Valley? Yes, very much so. But if you're a clean freak like me, no. We would never stay here again. We camped at Hidden Valley RV Park in...
Read moreWe just finished our stay here at Hidden Valley RV Park. Right off the bat, Terry is absolutely incredible and so attentive to the park. When we arrived she was weed eating some spots. She saw us getting ready to back in, made me stop so she could weed eat it. The spot was perfect before but I was impressed with her drive. The grounds are immaculate, no trash, no weeds, everything ship shape. Hook-ups were very easy to use and in good shape. Plenty of room for slides but the spots are not huge; however, knew that going in and was completely satisfied. If you are looking for a park with a pool or playground this isn't your best choice. This park is quite cute and there is a large creek in the back but the real charm is the country setting and peace and quiet. In the evening after quiet time there are no streetlights or noise from ANY campers. This has to be one of the things we enjoyed the most, just sitting outside and listening to the evening sounds and the occasional truck way off in the distance. Lastly I would like to address the road issue that people are talking about. This is without a doubt one of the most well maintained, free of potholes, level roads I have ever seen. There are two speed bumps right by marked telephone poles, but I imagine that keeps people at the 10mps speed limit. The road is such a non issue I am having a hard time understanding who would even complain about it. If you do travel on the road, take your time and go slow. The ride in treated us to beautiful cacti with prickly pears were ripe and purple. Without a doubt next time we are in San Antonio we will be staying here. I am adding a picture of the road just so you can see what I was...
