If not for the terrible experience at the front desk with the two twits at the front and the invisible manager, I would likely have given my stay a 4 or 5 star review. However, you are only as good as your weakest link.

I booked this stay several months in advance through Expedia as it was for New Year’s Eve. We were driving down to Palm Springs. When we searched, we screened for Pet Friendly properties and this one came up. We have a small, well behaved dog.

When we arrived at the property to check in, I brought our dog in with us. When I got to the counter, one of the two front counter staff said they did not accept pets. I mentioned that I specifically searched pet friendly properties. They then said they only accept service dogs. I said everyone has to accept service dogs. That is not pet friendly, that’s the law. I said I would like to discuss it with the manager, One of the check in staff said she would check with the manager. She proceeded to go into the back office. The manager never did come out. She said that the manager said we were welcome to go find somewhere else to stay! The manager would not even show his/her face. I was never rude or obnoxious at all. I proceeded to go on Expedia to show them how I searched for the “pet friendly” property. They could care less and again told me I could go somewhere else….at 5pm on New Years Eve. They then said, if I wanted to stay with our dog, we could, but it would be $75 extra! That was almost as much as our entire booking! So, I bit my tongue hard and checked in, swearing to myself to leave a review later.

As you will see on in the pics, the irony is they have special dog door hanger, and a picture of a dog in their elevator of all things.

I called Expedia to complain about my experience and they at least gave me a $50 credit. It was Canadian currency though.

Bottom line is the staff and management handled this situation terribly with no empathy, common sense or professionalism. Expedia shoes the property as pet friendly which I proved. I should not be ostracized and hassled because their booking partner has it listed as such. They should have made an exception and they should then have followed up with Expedia to have them correct...

When you first walk into this establishment, you are welcomed with a friendly smile and acknowledgment, besides this there was such a clean smell as you continue to enter in the building. The lady at the front desk were extremely kind and efficient checking me in giving me the room directions and Wi-Fi instructions. As I continue to walk through the Hampton Inn and suites that clean, smell of aloe continue to freshen the air. I was able to make it down to the pool, which was perfect size with plenty of outside chairs and lounge chairs Hampton Inn and suites in Madera is located directly off the freeway and is extremely easy to find as soon as you exit. There is plenty of safe and well lit outdoor parking with ADA and diamond members slots upfront The rooms were delightfully, clean, and fresh, each of them having a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, and a beautiful bathroom with a large shower and bathtub. Now let’s discuss the super comfortable and large beds in each of the rooms…. If I did not have to go to work when I woke up, I most definitely would’ve enjoyed lounging a bit longer in the bed because it was so comfortable. I did make it down to continental breakfast, which had a large variety of fresh fruits, bread, pastries, and bagels. Along with scrambled eggs, red potatoes, and sausage patties. There was waffles with every type of topping and cereal with every type of topping, including oatmeal. They had a juice bar and fresh milk. There was no way you would walk away hungry. I was able to walk around the outside before bed, which was extremely safe with a walking path that goes in front of the highway patrol building. I will be back in this area once a month for business and will always stop at the Hampton Inn and suites of Madera due to the employees and the caliber of customer service, along with the cleanliness, comfortable and beautiful hotel and to top it all off one of the most amazing breakfast continental bars I have seen. I highly encourage you whether you’re coming alone or with your family for personal or business to stay at the Hampton Inn and...

We stay here at least once a month in a suite and this will be a review solely on the suites, customer service, and amenities. Always clean and always excellent customer service. Suites are located on the ground floor (not sure how other hotels are or if this is even relevant to people looking for a room) the beds are comfortable, a little firmer than I like but not different enough to make me wake up sore and that's just a personal preference and they're not different than any other hotel mattress as far as firmness. The spa/jet tub is deep I'm 6ft and when it is full it covers me to my shoulders. The jets aren't too strong nor are they weak. The tub is in the open and viewable from most of the room so not family-friendly for a bath but works as a hot tub as well. There is a larger bathroom with good size shower (about 6-8ft long by 3-4 feet wide I'm not positive on the measurements) and a toilet. There are 2 Sinks, outlets and a mirror between the tub and the bathroom with a shower, they are nothing special but the counter has plenty of room. The room is overall very open and doesn't make you feel like you are in a hotel. The staff is always helpful, like when you need an extra towel or blanket, courteous when checking in and answer any questions you may ask. They can almost always be found within a minute or 2 (maybe helping with a room or on a break a couple of times out of about 30 visits and needing help about 50 times). They can be found quickly about 95% of the time. Their breakfast is better than most if not all hotels I have been to. I have yet to use their pool. Their coffee is pretty good as well, bold flavor and not light like tea. Whether you're looking for somewhere to stay for work, business, or vacation, I would highly recommend staying here. All around a time-tested excellent hotel with great customer service and clean rooms and...

We were blindsided by a fee we had never encountered at any other hotel in our lives. If you arrive ANY time before 3pm, there is a fee to check in. I showed their fee table to a travel agent and she was shocked -- so this is not normal. 1:00pm - 3:00pm check in fee is $20 10:00am - 12:00pm check in fee is $30 6:00am - 9:00am check in fee is $40 We arrived at 12:30pm which is not specified by the fee table, but would have cost $20-$30. (I can't believe the table is so poorly thought out that it has two 1-hour gaps) We were on our way to a party and needed to change. Rather than pay what we perceived an unfair fee, we changed in the lobby bathroom which was tedious and uncomfortable. The experience soured us on the entire stay. I would understand if a room just wasn't available, but that didn't seem to be the case. The check-in clerk was the least communicative she could possibly be which came across as unfriendly. We later had a different check-in clerk who was great.
