Just spent this past weekend at Tanglewood. After having been in the White Mountains area a few times before, and even staying at a site down the road before, we wanted to give this place a try. ||While I definitely enjoyed the place, I just have to get a few minor negatives out of the way first. The cottage was a bit smaller than expected with very little kitchen space. I was under the impression that there would be a full sized fridge, but instead there was only a mini fridge, we were able to get all the perishables in there, but it required some expert Tetris skills. The website also says they have a cable TV in the cottages, but it turned out the TV did not have cable or built in streaming services. I was told at check in that the TVs are Roku/Firestick compatible, which had I known, I could have brought my Roku, but didn't find out till we got there. It ended up not being that big of a deal, since it's not like we were planning on spending much time inside watching TV, but it would have been nice to have for night time. There was also no AC in the cabin, but that also proved to be a non-issue since this time of year it actually got quite cool at night and with the windows open made it so there was no need for AC. ||Other than that though, the place was great. Each cabin has a screened in porch, and its own charcoal grill. Not all of them have their own firepit, but Cottage Number 9, where we stayed, did. The place is located right on the Swift Brook, and there's a spot where the brook opens up a bit, and forms a natural little swimming hole. They have some floats people can play with, and even a little paddleboat. The river water was a bit cold, but it still made for a nice swim. There's also small waterfall that you can't swim or play on, but it makes a classic relaxing babbling brook noise that we could even hear from our cottage at night. ||One of our days up there was just spent entirely hanging out on site. It was nice being away from it all and just chilling outside, swimming in a natural body of water, cooking on the grill, and having a fire at night under the stars, which thanks to little to no light pollution were nice to look at. ||As I said before, I've been to the White Mountains a few times and love the area, so if I'm ever up there again I would give Tanglewood...
Read moreActually it was a great long weekend for a family of 27. We monopolized the entire place so it was fabulous in that respect. I'd like so say a five for some reasons but a three for other reasons. The pros....the host Laura was so helpful and wonderful and accommodating especially so for such a large family gathering. We gathered literally at the fire pit in back of her home on the little pond and we're worried about disturbing her. She was so gracious and kept saying we were fine. Plenty of spaces for little ones to enjoy as well as plenty for 2 corn hole sets and horse shoes...tether ball...and whatever else you make like. We did a family survivor with tribal council and everything. Great time had by all for sure. There are hammocks and grills and fire pits all over the place..the place was very very clean and we'll kept....the cons. The cottages are very tiny not much work space to prep food so try and do most food prep at home. If you are a light sleeper maybe this place is not for you. It literally is on the main road and the near a construction place with giant trucks coming and going all hours of the night. I believe cottage 1 gets the worst of it As it's closest to the st. And the old single glazed windows do nothing to cut down the noise. I did not sleep for three solid nights. If you sleep heavy may not bother you. We go away to be with family, not many places fit our family and can put up with our loud family fun antics...so in this respect and cleanliness and gracious host it's a five.....sleep and food prep it's a three. Do food prep at home and cook it here and bring sleeping pills and your a...
Read moreWe were so lucky to have chosen Tanglewood Cottages! The kids and I decided to take a weekend trip up to the White Mountains for a little white water rafting and zip lining . We enjoy staying in cottages over hotels for the little extras that mean so much to us. Well we certainly got everything we needed here. The cutest cottage with absolutely everything needed in the kitchen. I honestly don’t think there was anything else I could have needed. Nice size fridge for all the supplies. A river right behind the cottage with tubes, noodles and paddle boats that my adult girls used. But we were very lucky because we also were close to the waterfall and what a great way to fall asleep at night! Most of the day we were off exploring but how nice it was to come home to a big smile and nice hello from Laura and Chris. They are most certainly the best host and hostess! Anything you needed they were there to help. After getting back each night we would grab the wood and start a welcoming fire in the fire pit. Out came the hot dogs and s’mores followed! Thank you Laura, Chris and Tanglewood for a great get away! Looking forward to seeing...
