Working in the wedding industry, I was recently in the unique position of getting to know The Farmhouse Inn as the location for my daughter’s wedding, as well as working with them as a vendor. I also had the added bonus of getting to stay in one of their guest rooms for 3 nights.
The owner, Leslie, is such a gracious and generous host. All questions and requests were met with positivity and helpfulness. She made what could be a stressful time feel like a walk in the park, figuratively and literally with the beautiful surroundings of her property. I can’t emphasize enough how her easy manner made us feel at home, relaxed, and cared for.
The rooms are clean, bright, comfortable, and beautiful. There are thoughtful touches throughout, including nice toiletries and a welcome basket with snacks. We enjoyed waking up to Walter’s delicious farm-to-table breakfasts, then taking a walk over to the farm yard to commune with the chickens, roosters, ducks, Guinea fowl, and (best of all) multiple peacocks and peahens. The buildings are exactly what you would want in a country setting, with wide front porches with rocking chairs overlooking the gardens and fields. I would describe it as an elevated farm experience. And all of this is a short drive to historic downtown Madison. This would even be a great home base while visiting Athens, Eatonton, Milledgeville, and the Lake Oconee area.
As a wedding location, this venue has everything we needed and more. A priority for my daughter was being able to stay on-site after the wedding and reception. We found that not many venues offered that. And what a luxury - to have not just a wedding but a “wedding weekend”! We did the farm takeover, which allowed us to check in on Friday, rehearse exactly where everything will take place, then have our rehearsal dinner on-property. The entire wedding party, as well as parents, were able to stay the weekend in their many beautiful rooms.
There are multiple options on the property for the different components of a wedding to take place. We chose the stone terrace for the rehearsal dinner, brick courtyard for the wedding ceremony, garden for cocktail hour, food in the red barn, and guest dining with live music and dancing in the grassy area between the rooms and the garden. This flowed wonderfully, with each location mere steps from one another.
I hope you enjoy the photos and that they give everyone a chance to see, as my daughter said upon seeing everything, the garden party wedding...

Read moreA MUST STAY! My husband and I recently stayed at The Farmhouse Inn and it was Wonderful! Backstory - we are a young couple from California who enjoys B&Bs, animals and history. We try to stay off the beaten path and just relax in a small town. We were planning our anniversary trip to Georgia (neither of us have been before) and since we always enjoy staying at B&Bs, I started my planning by doing a lot of googling for B&Bs in Georgia. This is how I found the Farmhouse Inn and why we decided to explore Madison on our trip. We have stayed in quite a few B&Bs and this is definitely top 2 if not our most favorite! The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are spacious and clean. We stayed in the Orchard Loft in the Red Barn and it's a great spot because it's right above where breakfast is served. Let me tell you, the breakfast was AMAZING! Leslie made a ham & cheese scone that was so good (Leslie, I think I need this recipe!) and Joann made a raisin bread that was delicious! There are so many cool things to do on the property and I was thrilled to be able to feed the horses & goats. This was the first place we stayed on our trip in Georgia and honestly, neither of the other places we stayed even came close to the ambiance, attentiveness and overall experience we had here. If I had to do it all over, we would have spent our entire vacation here! If we weren't so far away, this would be a place we would frequent quite often for a long weekend! I come from a wedding planning background and this place would make for a dreamy wedding spot! I could go on and on. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Thank you Leslie & Joann for treating us so well! We miss...
