Had a 2 day tent stay at this site and really quite enjoyed it. I have to say that I'm still quite a novice at the camping thing, so take my thoughts with that in mind. Positives: The staff - enthusiastic and entertaining (although the 'oh we cancelled your reservation' joke upon check-in almost caused a heart attack!). Amenities - I found the toilets and shower block were clean, the water was hot. The on-site store sold quite a few things. Water taps dotted around, outside sinks for cleaning dishes. Each site had a picnic table and fire pit. They had some activities (ice cream social for $1 a scoop), and they had some games (badminton sets, corn-holing) you could borrow. There was a pool, play park and off-leash area. Location was decent. Very close to Smith Rock, and Palisades. Culver was 5 minutes drive with a couple of bars/restaurants and a dollar store. Not quite as good: Amenities - pool wasn't that big, off-leash area was tiny. Location - nothing walkable nearby. 35-45 minutes to Bend. Not-good-but-not-the-campsites-fault: Mosquitoes - were really bad one day between 7-8pm, otherwise bearable. Inconsiderate camp-mates; group of teenagers persisted in walking through our camp rather than use the pathways. On balance, we definitely enjoyed ourselves. For the convenience to Smith Rock alone, we'd go back.

4.5 Stars (round up to 5)! My family of 4 had a great experience at this KOA. We stayed in the teepee, originally planned for 3 nights, but it was either super cold from the openness or super hot from the wood stove. Customer service was excellent - after one night I talked to the manager and was able to switch to an available cabin without any fuss. The main reason why we stayed there was for the teepee experience and the play area (it was mid replacement and not usable). The teepee would be worth it if the lows stayed above 55F. Note: the teepee doesn't not come with power - we came prepared with usb power packs. Pros: clean showers/bathrooms Kitchen sink in the main building to wash dishes Accommodating management Location close to Bend & Smith Rock Teepee was a neat experience Cons: play area under construction (it will be great) Lots of sites packed into a small area Parts of the area/facilities are looking tired Overall, I'd stay there again without hesitation, but the cabin next time.

We had a great time here the lawn areas outside the pull throughs and some of the back ins are nice and there are huge fire pits that we were able to barbecue on top of. There are a lot of kids it's a great family spot. We were two couples traveling together and we enjoyed it just as much.. Close to lots of day trips went to Billy chinook Lake and Marina and over to sisters for some lunch at a great Mexican Restaurant. Close to the town of Madras which has everything you need in the way of shopping and gas. Staff was very helpful when there was a mix up.. somebody was in the spot that we were supposed to go in so we took the spot next to it and it kind of mess things up for them but they fixed it.. and were pleasant and cordial about it. Nice dog area, well taken care of property with a small store with some basics. We were in travel trailers so did not use rest room facilities.

UPDATE: I dropped it to 1 star. We have had no power since early this morning. My husband and I went to the office to ask what's going on and to let the park manager know. We also let one of the maintenance guys know too. We were getting ready to get into our truck to drive around with the AC on because our Pugs don't tolerate heat well and our 5th wheel is now too hot inside to remain. As I was standing outside I was approached by a gentleman named Colin who told me to not park on the grass. We weren't on the grass! I said OK and asked if and we can get power. Colin said we had power. I said no we did not. At that time he called me a liar in front of witnesses. He yelled we do have power. Colin said we had been gone all day anyway so how did we know. We had not moved all day waiting for power to come back on. He said again that we did power and that no one in the park knew we did not have power. I informed him that the office knew and another maintenance guy knew, just as that maintenance guy pulled up. Colin went to the main breaker box, looked inside and said we do have power, but we DON'T. I asked him to come back to our site and he refused. I again went into the office, followed by Colin. Again I asked him to come to our site and see we have no power. His response was give us back our money since we are leaving. UNSAT! UNPROFESSIONAL! Colin is the kind of maintence man that makes all maintence men look bad. We actually have made the decision to leave several days early though because I won't stay in a campground with no power in such high temps. Now lets see if this KOA gives us a refund because from the moment we got here 2 days ago the power outage has made us miserable and very frustrated. I even post pictures of the opposite sides of our truck showing it still on the gravel and just how hot it is.* ||||My husband who IS an electrician used his volt meter to verify that we did in fact NOThave power from the park power outlet.|||| Power On, Power Off! The park electrical system can't handle the power usage from the campers. We are one of 4 sites that share a breaker for the power. This is apparently throughout the park. If you turn on anything in addition to 1 AC then everything goes in all the sites, until the voltage can climb to turn power back on. You can only use 30 amp but the voltage keeps dropping off. So if any one of the 4 RV's that share the same breaker draws to much power, we all lose power. Granted this is in high heat, but upgrades really need to be done since more and more RV's want/need or use 50 amp.||||The one way around it is to not use a surge protector, but then your AC is in danger of burning up.||||The staff at the office NEED to inform any and all incoming campers about this so that people can chose to stay or go and if they chose to not stay, then refund thrir monies. This is NOT advertized on their KOA website either.||||Staff are great, very friendly and they do try to help. Their nightly Pizza service is really good. Laundry room is clean with good machines. Pool is open and looks good as well. ||||If power issue is addressed AND fixed then I will raise the...

My family had been going to this campground for 15 years. We've always had a great time. This trip was not great because the owner Mike was completely out of his mind. We were unloading our truck of camp gear & apparently took to long. Instead of coming over & asking politely to move the truck, the owner mike yells rudely at our son to get it out of there NOW! a day later, we got off the lake & my husband was in the back of the boat handing bags of beach towels & food down to family members so he could take the boat to over flow parking. Mind you, no cars were behind us waiting to get by & even if a car did come up, we were not blocking the road. So again, Mike yelled at us to get the boat out of the road NOW! My husband said we'll move as soon as we're unloaded. He continued to yell at my husband & my daughter & I countered with were not in anyone's way, and why are you being so rude! We were shocked to find out that he is the owner! We were so shocked that we thought he might be lying because who owns a business & treats the customers that way. We went to the office to find out if he was in fact the owner. He sure is! The lady at the office didn't seem surprised at all that we were complaining about him and then when we walked back to our site, other campers came over to say they're sorry we were treated that way, thought we handled it well or that they witnessed him treat others the same way. I'm leaving this review here but plan to contact the main head company to let them know the owner is treating people horrible. Look at reviews, others left some about a rude man, had to have been him. We rented a pull thru w/ water & power and also 2 tent sites. The power went out about 6 times during our 4 night stay. The longest outage was about 45 mins. We've always loved staying here but definitely rethinking...

Very dissatisfied with this KOA. We've stayed at multiple KOAs and I can honestly say I would be embarrassed if I owned this one. We were located next to the "live-in employees", which consisted of them having piles of trash and junk piled around their campers. Their children ran amuck while the adults smoked cigarettes in all areas of the campsite, in their uniforms, while children are present, on their golf carts, right outside the office door, etc. One of the live-in girls walked around in a bra and short shorts while smoking with her belly hanging out at one point. I hardly wanted to have my shades open during my stay. I went to use the restroom before checking out at 9:30 am on a Sunday and there was a closed for cleaning sign. When I looked in the restroom there was no one in there, so I grabbed a stall to go before hitting the road. I hear someone yell "IS SOMEONE IN HERE?????" I get out and she yells again "YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE IN HERE. IT'S CLOSED" Okay, so how about clean at a less busy time?? I thought it was very off putting and like I said, it's definitely the worst KOA we've ever been to. Lastly, they charge $9 for breakfast and of all the KOAs we've been to breakfast was always included... we decided to not pay anything additional to this horrible campsite. Highly disappointing...
