By far, the worst campground we've ever been to. As regular campers that travel all over to experience as many campgrounds as possible, we'll never return to this place. On arrival, someone was parked in our campsite and it was late so we had to set up around this car.We ran a generator to keep our child warm in our camper and cook food etc.. and had every single other camper complained during the day to us. People were rude and angry, complained to us and after turning it off, they still complained to the ranger. The people next to us, got a warning for the generator when they didn't even have one. People were partying, yelling and never got a complain or warning. This place is for fishing and lots of fisherman that want quiet at 7pm. We checked for the rules pertaining to generators running and there wasn't anything posted so we assumed it would be ok until 10pm....

I'm not a big desert fan, but being down in this canyon type of area with the Deschutes and the creek right there, it's beautiful, and plenty of shade especially in campsites. The road in is paved further than I thought but I'll admit, the gravel part was easily passable even with my basically expired tires, but it gets rough. Just bumpy, very grooved which may not be a bad thing when it comes to the speed limit. Winter time may be a different story with snow or ice, but the only part with a very steep grade is paved at least. Gorgeous views the whole way. Lots of people camping though it wasn't full, looks like a great time 😁 might have done five stars if I had been able to stay and...

Freaking awesome place. Saw lots of fishermen and rafters setting off but not many campers. We stayed in a TT and there were lots of spots. 1st come. $8 weekday, $20 weekend. 1/2 off w National Pass card. We stayed one night for $4. Possibly the best deal in the world.

Gorgeous views all around. Weather in late June was perfect. Bugs weren't too bad.

Getting here with a trailer was a bit of an adventure but any vehicle should be able to navigate down and handle the washboard gravel road in. ...

BLM campground. First come first served. There is a new pay kiosk and also the old fashioned cash envelope/ box drop. $8 weekdays $12 weekends, pit toilets. It's a long dirt road leading to the campground but it's well maintained. The tunnel at the entrance is 14' high. We managed to find a site with some shade. The launch is busy with rafting and fishing guides but it was fun watching the whitewater rafting.

Just over an hour from Bend this access to the lower Deschutes River is a great day trip or overnight camp. The drive from Madras into the canyon is beautiful and the setting in the canyon is classic lower Deschutes. A boat ramp, good restrooms, and some campsites that are on the river make this a great place to fish, hike, and camp. You will find a lot of fisherman here, especially in summer.
