My wife and I spent 5 days recently at Grey Cliffs Ranch. We had a very enjoyable time!||I was not sure what to expect from the ranch. This ranch is not a large, commercialized type ranch like some of the others in Montana like Paws Up. This place has a real down-home feel to it. The capacity of Grey Cliffs is around 20, but most commonly, they tend to have 10 people or less staying there. Most rooms are in the main lodge, where you eat your meals. Rooms are nice, modern and well appointed. There is another room above the pottery studio with queen beds.||The best thing about the ranch was the food. Dinner meals were absolutely outstanding. The kitchen is open, so you have direct access and interaction with the chef.||The staff is very friendly and helpful. They don't have a large staff, so you need to book your horseback rides and fishing float trips weeks in advance.||On-ranch activities include horseback riding, skeet shooting, rifle and pistol range with option to shoot a 50 cal rifle. There is a hike you can take up to a beautiful scenic bench on the back side of the ranch that has Amazing views. That hike takes roughly an hour one way, but you can also drive up. Mild- moderate intensity. They also have some mountain bikes available. There is a pottery studio that is available for classes or purchase of pottery. No on-site spa but a message therapist can be arranged to come to the lodge. There is a limited amount of gym equipment- small treadmill and home cable weight machine.||There is no river on the ranch, so the fishing is primarily offsite, except for a couple ponds that are on the ranch. The Madison River is very close by though.||Make sure to plan your activities the day before, because the staff guides the fishing trips and there may not be anyone on the ranch except you and the chef when you wake up.||Water, soft drinks and 3 meals a day are included in nightly rate. There is a cash bar available with a decent wine list and variety of liquors and beers. All ranch activities except pond fishing, mountain bikes and hiking have separate fees.||The ranch is in a great location for exploring other towns close by, unlike some of the other ranches we have visited where you rarely leave the ranch. Some suggestions for places to visit (all within 1.5 hour drive): Lewis and Clark Caverns , Yellowstone, the towns of : Three Forks, Ennis/Virginia City/ Nevada City, Livingston, Gardiner, Bozeman, Butte. (The ranch is a 45 min drive to the airport near Bozeman.)||We really enjoyed the caverns and visiting Three Forks. The Iron Horse cafe was really good. Sacajawea hotel has a bar and restaurant that are good.||The Gravel bar in Ennis is worth a visit for lunch then drive over to Virginia City. Stop at the visitor center as you get into Va City to get a map and brief history lesson.||There is a live Grizzly bear exhibit near Livingston worth a visit. You can then explore Livingston and make the drive to Gardiner, the arch and north entrance of Yellowstone.||If you only have time for one excursion- I would choose the Lewis and Clark caverns. There is a 2 hour cave tour. The gift shop there is pretty nice and then you pass Three Forks on the way back to grab a drink or a bite to eat. The Ennis/Virginia City trip is also excellent.||I list these suggestions because it took us a few days to glean all this information on the best things to do on ranch and off-site. There is no dedicated concierge at the ranch, but you can inquire with any staff member and they will offer activity suggestions.||A special thanks to all the ranch staff for making our stay a great one: Kalen, Tracy, Chris, Kendra, McKenzie and Licia. We hope to...
