My family made a reservation at Lake Marion Resort and Marina while visiting some friends on Memorial Day. More than 3 months in advance. Our reservation was made for Labor Day weekend for a cabin and a pontoon boat for the Saturday. Originally we had a 2 night reservation but asked to stay another night into Monday, Labor Day. Friday I checked in, gave them my card, got the key to a 2 bedroom cabin, and all was good. The women that checked me in had me fill out a small piece of paper asking my personal info which I gave. She said checkout was Monday and enjoy. As I was leaving the owner Debbie thanked me for wearing a mask stating that most people don’t. I thought that odd but didn’t think any more about it. No rules were discussed, no pass for a vehicle, no clear instructions were given. I had my husband and 2 teenagers staying with us and another cousin family with 2 adults and 2 more teen boys. They showed up Saturday late and were hunted down and harassed on their arrival after parking. They were informed that they were intruding and not welcome. After ||Talking to them and explaining why they were there and who they were there to see the owner gave them a parking pass and they met us at the boat landing. After a great rest of the day boating, cooking, fishing, and hanging out my youngest went to bed at 8:30, the rest a few hrs later. Sunday morning as I was making breakfast I put my cell phone on the charger, cooked breakfast, had coffee and was planning another day of fishing and relaxing. My son said someone was at the door so I went to the door and the owners were saying that we needed to get out immediately that the reservation was up and checkout was 10 am. I told them that I understood checkout to be Monday at 10. When I was trying to sort it out the police showed up and my family had to pack up quickly and vacate the premises. I am not one to want to be somewhere that I’m not welcome. This owner Debbie was rude, wouldn’t listen to any reason at all and who in the world calls police on paying, polite, responsible customers. She was mad because we had our own boat, mad because our visitors didn’t stop and check in at office and honestly I am hearing now that she is a miserable unhappy person and always like this. For us, we travel, camp, extensively for work and play. We will never stay here again and will ensure that anyone that we know will know about this treatment. As far as the cabin, for this place being called a resort I would say, far from it. The stove was a fire hazard, one eye hanging by a thread, a wood handle for the oven, the drawer on bottom broken. The washer and dryer had open electrical components, smoke alarm was missing, bugs and spiders throughout even in the beds, the frig was rough also. If there are specific rules that we needed to follow this needed to be disclosed. I have never felt so low in my life. People like this should not run a business that depends on the general public. This was toxic, customer service was non existent, and it all started after they took our money. Never ever...
Read moreIt's sad I have to rate this place a one star due to the horrific staff. The park itself is pretty nice. My family and I have stayed at many campsites and never have I run across management like this. My family is looking for land in the nearby area and have become full-time campers in the meantime. From the very beginning before even bringing our camper the manger had a attitude because I issed a call which I returned 30min later. Her stating because I didn't answer or communicate with her that she was giving my site to someone else. Later calling me back telling me I could have the site. Knowing my family needed a site, we accepted. We ended up staying for about 2 months and thats ONLY because of convenience. My fiance was offered a maintenance job here but ended up finding a job elsewhere and 2 weeks later we were asled to leave the park. Myself having worked in property management for many years knows this is not how management acts. They have went completely against the fair housing act and I have proof. Stating in our conversation when I asked why we had to leave that there was no issue other than my fiance not communicating with her about work. Yet since when do you have to tell someone you dont want the job, just keep moving. And then that has nothing to do with our staying. Management mentioning our financial situation which has never been an issue of us paying and that's about none of their business. Management mentioning my children. Management asking why would I want to stay at a place like this. Management speaking against my fiance stating if he wanted ti work and support his family then he would communicate better. Yet he doesn't have to communicate with a place were staying at and found another job. 🤦♀️ Lastly we were given a week to leave but while talking with her she asked if we needed 30 days and after I agreed and also agreed to pay for the month and leave the next month she stated ohh no nevermind 1 week. l know this is my longest review but I want people to see how unprofessional these people are and something serious could happen with them going against fair housing or just speaking to people in this manner. I asked yo speak with the owner and was told No I don't want to talk to him he's mean. Owners: if you need someone exspirenced and knows the...
Read moreWhen we first arrived we were told we could pick one of two spots. Once we hooked up And set up completely to the one we decided on we realized it wasn't working correctly and not allowing our ac among other things to work. Someone came to look at it but it still never worked. Since it was now after hours and could not get anyone on the phone we decided to move to the other spot to see if it was our rv since we were told it was working like it should. Surprise the new spot worked fine... Then came the ants. They are all over the ground I suppose since the people that stay full time there are told to maintain their ”yard” I guess no one maintains the ”yard” for people staying a short time. Also the place is infested with while cats. They came onto our porch at night and ripped a while in our insulated bag to get a unopened bag of chips. Before we left I was told we were paid until Sunday. However I realized when we left we were actually paid through Sunday. Even though we left because of my husbands job they would not refund the last night.. Almost all of the chairs at the pool are broken too. After having to move once we were set up, throw food away because of ants and buy a new swim bag because of their infestation of wild cats I'll pay the extra money and go to the park...
