I am not one to write poor reviews, but this circumstance genuinely warrants a negative review. We had the most amazing experience to start out with at Stardust. The emails and the texts started out very good with communication/support, but once we left the situation drastically changed.
I recognize that in general, there are a lot of people who are dishonest, however, we are God-fearing Christian women who don’t play games and don’t lie. Upon checking my email the Monday after we left, I discovered a receipt which included an $120 up charge due to damages. After receiving said receipt, I received an email stating that they had to upcharged us due to damaged bedding. At that time they had not validated which of the two facilities it was, and had not gotten my permission to charge my credit card. Upon discovering that it was the container home, I quickly reached out to my girls to defer on if there was anything wrong with bedding that would validate us being charged. One of my friends stated that it appeared that the bedding had an ink discoloration on the bedding, but that she didn’t think anything of it. Again, we are a laid-back group of girls who are just so glad to get away from our hectic daily lives and relax amongst friends.
This is where the situation became very unfortunate with the messages moving forward. They were completely antagonistic and accusatory in nature, and did not possess a sense of collaboration or understanding.
They proceeded to tell us, that we very clearly had used hair dye and ruined the bedding, and that we were lying. They did provide photos and videos to validate the damages, which we never disputed that something was on the bedding, but we did acknowledge that this was not caused by us, and that it was there prior to our arrival. To further validate that this could not have been us, my friend wears a hair bonnet to bed. They also could have checked the trash to see if there was anything such as hair dye that could have caused the damage.
The tone and sentiments of the message was extremely rude, and derogatory to our character. Honestly, if they would have been more collaborative and communicative in their approach, I would not be writing this review right now, and we would have happily been willing to pay even a smaller fee for said damages. I am a small business owner myself, and I do understand that because we did not say anything about the bedding what the situation might look like.
The price of said damages, actually ended up being close to retail value based on the receipts that were shared with us. The last thing I will share is that the images that were sent to us were under a WhatsApp file, with the date “Container 20241008,” this, of course, is connotative of the date in which these files were from. We were there in December not in October.
I am not here to dispute, that we did not acknowledge that there was some thing ink like on the bedding, but of the poor customer service skills that were provided for this experience, along with charging my credit card without my consent was completely un called for. We were genuinely hoping to tell all our friends about this Airbnb, and come back and utilize it again, since we travel to BB frequently, however, unfortunately now we are certain we will not be returning. Please be careful to document any possible damages upon arrival and prior to check out. I would also highly encourage videos for your own documentation purposes. I genuinely wish this Airbnb nothing but the best, but they have got to work on their customer...
Read moreFirst things first, the location is almost perfect. It is situated almost directly in between Big Bend State Ranch Park and Big Bend National Park. The location is one of the higher elevations in the area. There is a mountain that sits directly behind the site to the West and our A frame #5 had the bedroom facing East. Our A frame #5 sat the furthest out by itself. The view East is of the Chisos Mountain range in the distance. You can lay in bed and view the sunrise or moonrise over the mountains. Outside on the deck there are two chairs to sit and view the beautiful scenery or cushioned chairs with a table. There is also a hammock and firepit at each a frame, but the grills are situated between the units and not on each site. Even though our a frame was the furthest out, there are wagons that you can use to transport your belongings to and from the unit to your vehicle. Inside the a frame is phenomenal! For some it may seem small but everything seemed to be perfectly situated. Bedroom and bathroom were normal and as expected. The kitchen is almost fully stocked. By the way, if you email a question before your stay, they are quick with there response. The kitchen has a two burner oven, an air fryer, dish washer, refrigerator, freezer and way more spices than expected! FYI, read the email with information about your stay and what to expect. It is very informative and correct! Also, I could've marked more than 5 stars if I could. Great location and very comfortable inside and out! Sit back, RELAX and enjoy your stay, it will be worth it! Pictures attached were with a nearly full moon and you could still see more stars than normal and just about...
Read moreI am disappointed to be leaving this review, as I had genuinely hoped for a mutually beneficial resolution. Unfortunately, our experience with Stardust Big Bend was marred by a dispute over damages.
Our group, consisting of Christian women, booked A-frame #2 and the Container Home for a girls' weekend getaway from December 5th-8th, 2024. The booking, check-in, and check-out processes were smooth. However, on December 9th, we were informed of a $120 upcharge due to alleged damages to the bedding in one of the Container Home's bedrooms.
We were provided with photos and videos from the host, which included a Google Drive link with a military format date of '20241008.' This date is particularly concerning, as it predates our stay by nearly two months. We cannot understand why this date was associated with the evidence, and it raises serious questions about the legitimacy of the claims.
We were not given the opportunity to dispute the charges or discuss the matter before being billed. As a group, we take issue with the host's accusations of dishonesty, which we believe are unfounded and defamatory. We would have readily apologized and reimbursed for any damages if we had indeed caused them.
In light of this experience, I advise future guests to take their own photos and videos upon arrival and check out to avoid similar disputes.
I hope that in the future, Stardust Big Bend will take steps to ensure that their guests are treated fairly and...
