The campground is right off of Highway 6, which is a busy 6-lane road with a railroad on the other side. The nearly constant road noise, and the horns from passing trains (which I heard as early as 5am on a Sunday morning), were quite noticeable even with all our windows closed. Most of the campsites are back-ins with a few pull-throughs. All of the sites have concrete pads which are wider in the front to provide a parking spot and have grass lawns. There are no picnic tables or fire pits. The water and electric hookups are at the back of the site, while the sewer hookup is closer to the middle. Our site (site 13) was more than long enough to fit our 21-foot truck and 37-foot fifth wheel: we didn’t need to use the extra parking spot. Despite the concrete pad, our site a little un-level side-to-side, but nothing our leveling jacks couldn’t handle. There are no trees between or adjacent to the sites, but there are some trees that provide shade over the picnic area next to the fishing lake.
All of the indoor amenities can be found in the office building where you enter the campground. The laundry room contains 5 industrial washer and dryers. The clubhouse contains a mail cubby for postal mail and packages, a small kitchenette area, a gaming area, and theatre couches beneath a large screen TV. Two very nice individual bathrooms with showers are accessible from inside the clubhouse, and there are two more accessible from the outside of the building. Across the street from the office building is a fenced area containing two large dumpsters
The dog park is located behind the outermost row of sites on the northeast side of the park. If you’re not in one of those sites, you can reach the park by either a narrow marked footpath that squeezes between two of those sites, or (if you’re in one of the outer sites on the other end of the park) you can reach the park by walking around the fishing lake. Or if one of those northeast sites happens to be empty, you can cut through that site like we did. It’s worth nothing that site 43 through 54 back up to a neighboring fence line, so they cannot reach the dog park from their backyards. The grass-covered dog park is fairly large and has a picnic bench for seating as well as some dog agility equipment, but it gets muddy in places when it rains, and it has no lights: a few strategically placed solar powered lights would have been helpful. There is a small wooded area behind the dog park with a short walking path if the dog park is busy or otherwise unavailable, and there’s a lot of open grassy space around the fishing lake and on the southern end of the park.
In terms of cell service, the best speed I got on my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna was 27 Mbps down and 17 up, so I was able to work remotely and we were able to stream video without any issues. The one speed test I ran on my 5G AT&T smartphone showed 37Mbps down and 22 up. Even though we didn’t use it, I ran a speed test on the campground WiFi, and saw 14Mbps down and 5 up, which is pretty good.
We would stay here again if we were...
Read moreLet's start at the beginning, arriving here stopping at the office and see the view of the lake and the clean park , get in the office and receive a warm welcome from Brian, the owner and wonderful keeper is just all you need. I was in the first couple days a little concerned about the noises from the highway and the trains but I have to tell honestly the banging of some RV doors is much more disturbing to me personally, some people should live in a tent that would be much disturbing than banging those doors. There are ways to close those less noisy. In times of need Brian always finds some friendly words to address issues. He is veryy understanding and supportive. The clubhouse with all the amenities is wonderful. A fridge to use, theater seating, billiard free of charge, a table to play cards, just a wonderful place to make some contact to other friendly people. I have been in other places and sometimes there is just no other choice than leaving. Here leaving when the time comes will leave a piece of my heart here. Brian, thank you very much to make us feel home...
Read moreI have to say honestly that Brian, the owner living here himself, takes very good care about this resort. It is some people who leave their dog sh.. everywhere, parking where they should not, speeding through the park and let their dogs run against the rules without a leash. I feel very sorry for Brian because he try to catch them all and make it here a great experience. You see it is close to his heart to make people feel home here. Brian also understands that life sometimes has its ups and downs. I am not an easy person and live mostly alone not make friends easily but here I made a few friends I would not like to miss. I try to obey the rules and stay out of trouble but people are people and some are just different. Overall my experience here is excellent due to Brian's effort. He is everytime time at filling station for gas even at times you would think are inconvenient and always has a smile and some nice words. Thank you Brian to make this a wonderful...
