Northernaire Motel — Hotel in Maplewood

im renting at this spot right now i can say . The family owned this motel did a great job remodeling this place. It looks amazingly better than it was for some room , and this is why i am sure they are strict with new rules whether you like it or not there is a limit of only one or two if not a family all together vacay. But earlier today , I was literally or no where to go I moved out of my place today and needed to rent a room , I decided here when I called the price was to be 69.99 +tax and she didn't mention anything about depositingeither . I almost didn't have enough that first time she said it's charged 10 now 20.00 . I would really recommend the owner or staff to please be honest or to let know ahead so I know whether I have enough to rent or not . I did not arrive first so it was really rude for me to stay out in a cold another 20 min. I was felt rude. So my advice it's cold out I would recommend the seniors at emerald in. Overall the stay was satisfactory and while basic, the amenities were in good condition. Some of the furniture is a bit dated but still functioning and clean. Front desk attendants were friendly and good to talk to about nearby things to do.

Buildings all have rooms that open to the outside and you can park your car directly in front of your door. Parking was abundant and spacious.

The location is also pretty great. Not too close to large amounts of pedestrian traffic and mostly businesses nearby so it seems insulated from potential crimes. Definitely felt safe and secure around the property, even around midnight.

If you are looking for a simple place to stay with not much for amenities this is one I both like and recommend. If you go in with higher expectations than bed and good shower then you might have some disappointment.

I will confess to not expecting much of this small, roadside motel when I booked a room for the night. Winter had hit MN hard that day and I figured broke was better than dead. So I spent the night instead of driving/sliding home. I had room 4 and it is spacious when you first enter. Much to my great surprise it has a fridge and a microwave. A nice desk with a chair, a stuffed chair facing the tv and a decent bathroom with the soaps and towels I needed for an enjoyable shower. I am also pleases that this place is close to Hwy 36 and is just off of Hwy 61 which are major roadways to all sorts of shops and restaurants. If that is what you are after, great! On the negative side...my bathroom door did not latch which I solved with a trash can. Also, when the fan was not running I could hear my neighbors. However that can happen...
