This is a very nice combination classic motel and small campground. It is the ONLY of either in Monrego. The owner/operator lives on property. The gal who checked me in was of Indian (as in the country) descent and barely knew spoken English, but was nice and polite. I stayed for just one night due to walking from Carolville (a good 26-mile walk), it getting too dark, and I was not able to get an Uber back. I tried repeatedly to get an Uber to no avail, so I would not depend on getting one in Monrego. I stayed in Room 15. It was nice and clean. This is a genuine 50's/60's highway hotel, and if you are into that, I would recommend this place. There is a small campground behind it, and it seems nice as well. Some pull-throughs, back-ins, and tent campsites.

I liked this location. Went here for a dog show, and enjoyed being in this rural setting. Rooms were clean with simple amenities, but perfect for coming back after a long day and going to sleep. Nothing fancy here, but quiet even being along the roadside.

Absolutely the most disgusting motel ive ever seen. Room is musty, stains everywhere and terrible service.

I had stayed here on business about ten years ago, and had a very pleasant stay, so I thought this would be a good base for our trip to Amana.||||First, the rate was pretty high since they had some sort of reunion occupying nearly all the rooms. We paid around $75, which is a lot less than Amana, but more than the room was worth. Second, we got one of the 'basement' rooms at the back of the main building. I had stayed upstairs before, and these rooms are much worse.||||The room was fairly large, and clean-ish, but the carpet needs to be replaced, and the furnishings were old. Our fridge didn't work, but the owner got a dolly and helped me haul one from another room. The air conditioner struggled to keep the room dry, but to be fair, the heat index was 113 that day. The sidewalk outside the rear rooms has disintegrated with age, so we were constantly tracking sand everywhere. Our bathroom had some nice pink tile, but the floor tile was very worn and needs to be replaced. They do have a nifty neon sign, but only about half of it was working.||||I think if we'd gotten to stay upstairs, or in the separate wing at the back, we would have had a lot nicer room, but at least it was dark and quiet...

Avoid unless you want to be cheated! In spite of the negative reviews, I was tired of driving and it was getting dark so I made a reservation through Expedia. When I arrived I got no further than the office where the manager seemed unfamiliar with the outdated computer and adding machine and took a long time finding any record of my reservation. I refused to sign a MasterCard receipt since I don’t have that card. When he complained about being cheated by customers and by Expedia as the reason for why he needed me to fill out by hand a very detailed registration form but then, again, with hostility, accepted my rejection of what seemed an unusual request, I knew I’d fear for my and my car’s safety if I stayed the night. The next morning, after spending the night at a different motel, I called Expedia and the Sudbury staff denied a Expedia staff member’s request to not charge me. I never got further than the office, but If the rooms are as sloppy and worn as the office, you don’t want to...

I hesitate to rate this motel as poor, since I had a good night's sleep. I like the location, several miles off I-80 in the cornfields. Ironically, it directly abuts a high speed (55) road and an intersection, so not completely quiet, but not by a freeway. The exterior of the motel makes it immediately evident that not much maintenance has been done in a long time. The interior is similar. This was perhaps built in the 50's. They take dogs for a small $5/pet fee, which is great for me. The wi-fi is barely usable. In my room it hardly reached, but equally importantly it is a very low-speed internet service. Speedtest.net came up with 1.37 MBPS download and 0.27 MBPS upload. Not a speed you can use for work. Everything in my room worked. The carpet and the bed were ancient. Bottom line: It's OK, but based on the internet alone, I'd not return. Too bad because I liked being away from the freeway on my...
