We took the family visiting from out of town to a local bar & grille. Before we even left our house we called to make some reservations since we had a group of 7 adults & 2 kids. We made the 45 minute trip to the Bar & Grille. Before we even sat down the bartender abruptly pushed another table of 3 out of the way to make room for our party. SERVICE: I don't know if the bartender was having a bad day, or she always talks the way she does to costumers. She asks us what we were ordering and had an attitude when I asked for water and kindly said "we haven't even received a menu". A male in our party said he would like an alcoholic beverage and the bartender/server said that happy hour is only applicable ordering from the bar. So several ppl from our party went to the bar and ordered their drinks. The bartender said out loud "I just got ripped off" in regards to the drinks they ordered. Apparently they don't have happy hour on Saturday but how were they supposed to know that? At that point we decided that this place was not for us. The bartender made a comment while we were packing the children up saying that she just got ambushed (because 4 ppl went to the bar to order their alcoholic drinks). She tried to apologize and she even said I was just joking, and asked what we wanted to eat. At this point everyone in the bar was looking at us, and the cook even came out to greet us and kindly asked us to stay. In hindsight the bartender was rude. She shouldn't have made the comments she made while she was taking the drink orders and had an attitude when ppl ordered water and asked for a menu. If you follow my reviews I always give credit where credit is due. More times than not I make sure its important to share experience bad/good whatever it is. MENU: The menu consisted of a single card stock double sided 4x6 flashcard type of menu. It consisted of a few burgers, some chicken sandwiches, frozen pizzas, and small kids menu. For the sake of the establishment I will say this. I have eaten here before in 2015 while doing a big siding job. This was the only establishment in the area. I have tried 4/5 burgers and my favorite was the bacon pepper cheese burger. I ordered it as a double since I had worked all day, and I was starving. I did enjoy my burger. I remember the cook came out and talked to me, and asked if I enjoyed the burger. Which I did. I also ordered a pizza to take back to the hunting shack we were staying in while working the side job. In 2015 the staff were very accomdating. They served us our food, and made small talk with their out of town contractor guests. This establishment also serves as a gas station, a general store, bar, & grille. They also have some sort of bed breakfast inn attached. Being we were staying in a hunting shack with no running water or plumbing she offered us to use their shower, which I kindly embraced and used the facilities to shower and freshen up. Overall my experience of this place has been great. The fact that 1 bartender managed to alienate 6 adults (not me) and they all wanted to pack up and leave baffles me. She didn't piss me off. I wasn't drinking and it takes alot to bother me. My 1 star review is based off this experience today only. I know when ppl read reviews they read the 1 & 5⭐ reviews. Rarely do ppl read in between. I figured this well give ppl to figure their own opinion. I remember the cook and his story, and when I seen him come from the back it instantly reminded me of how I enjoyed my time with my crew of 4 guys.

Recent new owners. Fabulous food. King/Queen prime rib too, featured Friday. Beautiful setting on Little Cloquet R. headwaters. Burgers, soups, salads, drinks....everything we tried was top notch. Excellent fresh deep well water. Everything comes together here for the perfect dining and tavern style experience. Outdoor band on hand tonight. Great time, thanks again everyone. PS. That earlier 1 * review by John was most certainly the previous owners, so take that review with a grain of salt. Owners now are NOT the same owners as 2 years ago. Check dates on the reviews.

This is such a fun place to stay and eat. They often have live music, the staff are so nice and the food is wonderful. Best prime rib you'll ever find. The Inn is such a perfect place to stay during snowmobiling season or in the beautiful summer. We have done both. The owners are such wonderful people. They rent very nice sleds if you don't have your own. The trails going out of the Inn and so fun. I would highly recommend this place.

The Pequaywan Inn hosted our wedding on August 17th, 2024. Nick, the owner, bent over backwards to make our day as special and low stress as possible. He was great to communicate with before and during the wedding. He asked great questions that helped us figure out how we wanted the day to go. He and his wife were there the whole time to help and to manage the food and drinks. And the staff were great too. The food was wonderful. Many people at the wedding commented on how good it was. Many people at the wedding also commented that it was one of the more fun weddings they had been to and they wished they had done something similar for their own wedding. My family stayed in the apartment above the restaurant/bar and had nothing but good things to say. They were very comfortable and said they couldn't hear anything going on in the restaurant/bar below them. Everything was very affordable too. Thank you Nick, wife (sorry, I can't remember her name), and staff for making our day so stress free...
