My wife, son, and I stayed at the Colonel Williams Inn for one night on 6 Oct 22. The inn is a truly enchanting place to stay. Our room was advertised as being able to sleep four. More on this later. The inn sits on a hill overlooking a beaver pond. In the morning I took a walk around the beaver pond and a beaver was out swimming around and slapping the water with its tail. What a fun experience. Later I was told there are four beavers that live in the beaver house. Then my wife and I took a walk up Staver road (dirt) and were knocked senseless by the beautiful fall colors just a short walk up from the inn. Then we headed back for breakfast. The inn is a BnB. The coconut and pineapple muffins we had were absolutely delicious. Then we had grandfather's secret recipe waffles, and they were equally delicious. Throughout our stay our hosts for breakfast and upon arrival made us feel right at home and were point on in always trying to please. Back to the room. The room was on the second floor up a tight staircase which only added to the inn's charm. The doors to most of the other rooms were open and we enjoyed peeking in. The inn itself never locks its doors so you can come and go with ease. In our room my wife and I slept on a king bed which was very comfy. Our 39-year-old son slept on what some would call a bed, but it was more a board with some bedding on it. It was very hard and not at all comfortable for him. That's my only negative comment for our whole stay. His bed definitely needed a better mattress. The inn does have a nice family room with a big screen tv. There was no tv in our room, so for tv watching the inn's family room was it. We did have a bathroom in our room with a shower and everything worked perfectly. All in all, we loved our stay. What a wonderful Vermont experience for my wife. It was her first visit to Vermont and earned her admission into the Fifty Club - Vermont was her...
Read moreWe had our wedding at the Colonel Williams Inn in July 2022 and it was the best wedding I could have imagined! Victoria (the owner) and Natasha (the inn's coordinator) made the barn absolutely beautiful and magical for the reception and they both seamlessly orchestrated a flawless event.
We originally planned this wedding for May of 2020, when covid was new and forced us to postpone. Victoria was so easy and flexible to work with through all of this. She had great recommendations for local vendors. One of our favorite parts was that we got the inn for the entire weekend, we had the rehearsal dinner there, and breakfast was included each day, which made each day really simple and kept us from having to drive anywhere the entire weekend, so we really got to spend quality time with our wedding party and family.
The ceremony was by the pond and guests were in the shade thanks to some large shade trees, which we were grateful for. They have every thing we needed so we didn't need to bring anything. They have chairs, outdoor tables and bars for the cocktail hour, they have a few different arches to choose from, lots of decorations ( lights, candles, vases, etc), signage, etc. They have really beautiful china place settings.
I have so many more great things to say about having a wedding here - over all it was great to work with the people there, it was incredibly beautiful, I loved supporting a small business, and they made it so simple for us and we got to focus entirely on hanging out with our friends and family instead of the wedding logistics. I would recommend...
Read moreThe Colonel Williams Inn was the loveliest venue we could have imagined for our wedding, and Victoria and Brian helped it go off without a hitch! They were extremely responsive to our inquiries and flexible about our planning process, and on the day of they worked so hard to make everything go just right! They also brought in a great team to run the show. Celena was a terrific day-of coordinator: herding cats, soothing nerves, and letting us relax and enjoy the big day. Finally, their prices were quite reasonable, and they helped us construct a package that worked well for us and our budget.
The property itself is terrific-- the grounds and the inn are beautiful, with the barn just the perfect mix of rustic and functional. We were lucky enough to have our wedding on a warm day in late September, and the setting, with the arbor on a green lawn sloping down to a pond, with the first hints of color in the forest behind us, was truly magical.
We would recommend the Colonel Williams Inn to anyone looking for some simple Vermont charm, brought to you by two cheerful Texans who make a mean breakfast taco and throw a heck of a party. 10/10, would get married...
