Warning, this will be lengthy. I used to camp here almost every weekend during summer when I was younger. I decided I wanted to bring my kids here to make more memories. I booked our site, but was unsure of the location so a few days prior to check in I went there to view it. I was beyond shocked by how much it has changed. The majority, if not all, of the middle section are full timers. When I go camping I try to stay away from places like this. I then went to the site we were to stay at. It was by the pond and unmarked. I had to ask them where the site was. Another issue was getting into the site with a pop up because the ground was so unlevel. I asked the staff about it and a gentleman showed me exactly how to get in and if we had any issues he would be more than happy to help. We were going move, but figured out of the whole campground by the pond would be best. Now with all that being said... We checked in, the location was away from everyone in the park. My kids went swimming all day and had a blast. At night it was nice to relax in peace and quiet. We had the whole area to ourselves! Only downfall to this site were the gnats and the smell of the water, the smell was god awful when the wind blew our way, however I would choose this site all over again. The staff was AMAZING. I was worried about getting out of the site and they offered to drive me out if need be. The bathrooms near our site were clean, but a little strange. The stalls were up to my chin, I'm about 5'7", and very small. The shower area was small as well. Every night three little ducks came near our site to sleep which was cute and ever once in awhile during the day we would see them walking around. All around we had a great stay! As far as other reviews go, I can not confirm nor dispute what they are saying since my site was far away from others. The only thing I can confirm is there are A LOT of full timers. I also can't say enough how awesome the staff is. Every single person was extremely helpful and that alone makes me want to go back...only if I can get the same site with no one around. Oh, I can't forget about the location! Tucquan is near The Buck which is awesome if you're into tractor pulls and events like that. The drive to Lancaster is also not bad. We found a few cool places to visit just by driving down back roads. Hope this...
Read moreI took my two young daughters and my father on a spontaneous camping trip to get away from the worry of the current health crisis and the busy-ness in NJ. This family run campground was exactly what I didn’t know we needed. The backroads required to get there were worth the 2.5 hours of travel time - the area is beautiful and the kids even voluntarily shut off their electronics to check out the rolling hills, farmland and horse drawn buggies. Small Amish run stands spotted the country roads offering things like honey, strawberries and asparagus.
There is a little shop to check in at and the young lady behind the desk was upbeat and friendly. It had little souvenirs and items for sale that you might have forgotten at home. The item costs were not inflated for tourists.
We stayed in a cabin with electricity and water. It was adorable - small kitchen area with a table and bench, connected to living area with couch. Bathroom with a shower and a bedroom with 2 bunk beds. The lower part of one bunk bed was a full size, where all 3 of us girls ended up sleeping. Outside is a small porch with 2 chairs and right down the steps were two picnic benches and a fire ring. The location of this cabin was perfect - at the top of a small hill, looking down at the rest of the campground, about 100 yards from the pool and camp store. There were a few little trails behind our cabin that we explored. (Many more around the grounds as well)
We did a lot of cooking over the fire, went fishing at an adorable pond and even hiked a mile or two into the woods to find a tiny creek for the girls to splash in. The owner gave us “directions” for finding this hidden gem and the girls felt like explorers! The playground is AWESOME with a pirate ship to play pretend on, swing set and jungle gym with slides and stuff.
As stated before, the staff were great. During my conversation with the owner I mentioned we needed lettuce for salads and she picked some right out of her niece’s garden.
We will definitely be making this place a tradition of ours. The location and amenities paired with the family focused ambiance was...
Read moreWe stayed here for a month the campground is very nice and quiet. Because we were there for a month they gave us a discount which was very good although you do have to pay for your own electricity. If you're careful your electric bill will stay low enough where it's only a couple of dollars a day to run your camper. We are lucky enough that the weather was cool so we only ran the air about four times but it still cost us close to $100 to pay for the electric.
If you have any thoughts at all of using their Wi-Fi don't bother. The Wi-Fi is awful it doesn't work they don't know anything about it. I tried asking questions one morning shortly after we got there and all I was told was if you came here to use the Wi-Fi maybe you should go somewhere else. I was told them more than once. Frontier is the provider and apparently Frontier is tired of trying to fix the problems that they have. Do not go here if you want to use Wi-Fi at all it is advisable not to waste your time. We had Verizon we got one and two bars occasionally on our phones it was very painful trying to use the internet because I run a small business of rentals over the summer, I quickly learned in order to keep in touch with my renters the best way is texting, only very little voice very little internet.
We did not use any of their amenities at all, the pool looked clean and there are a lot of people there enjoying themselves. The rest of the park is a very nice place they have...
