My husband and I booked back in January 2016 for a September vacation to stay at Cape Cod Holiday Estates. We wanted 7 days but were told only 6 days were available. I usually write positive reviews of the resorts when we vacation, but Cape Cod Holiday Estates is one resort of which I warn vacationers. The units looked cozy and inviting, and my husband and I greatly anticipated staying there while we visited the USS Constitution, the Freedom Trail of Boston, drove to the walking trail at the tip of the peninsula, and went whale watching. BUT at check-in we were "welcomed" with a $50 cleaning fee because we had only booked for 6 of 7 nights. We explained we had wanted 7 but they were not available, probably so they can collect extra cleaning fees. The front desk people said we could talk with the manager and get it straightened out. Hmm. When we went to our unit we found hair in both showers and on bathroom floors, insects on the kitchen floor, wet shell macaroni stuck in the saucepan, and bent fork tines. We complained that we should not be stuck with an extra cleaning fee and tried to speak with the manager. The front desk people covered for her continually saying she was not available, so we left our cell phone numbers so she could contact us to discuss the fee. The front desk people assured us that she was reasonable and would probably not charge the fee. Hmm. No matter how we tried, the manager would not speak with us. In an entire week, she did not attempt to contact us regarding the fee. The cleaning fee was charged. This makes me think that it is a ploy to not have 7 nights available so that this exorbitant fee can be charged when they know they can't rent the place for one or two nights - they are just collecting cleaning fees. Well, if you are going to charge an extra cleaning fee, I would suggest that the place be clean for the guests when they arrive. I would steer people clear of Cape Cod Holiday Estates - we will...
Read moreWonderful wonderful wonderful place--- My family has been staying in Mashpee for decades and this was our first stay at Holiday Estates. We previously stayed at the Sea Mist up the road which is lovely. Holiday Estates is more private since all cottages are separated and among a quiet, wooded area. The property is nicely maintained, but not overly manicured, with a nice community center, indoor pool, and even quintessential wild turkeys roaming free all over the premises. Each cottage is bright, airy, plenty of room and two decks for outdoor enjoyment and that beachy feel you want. Amenities include central air, full kitchen with dishwasher, two full bathrooms, and washer and dryer. Since you have the ability to wash the management prefers you maintain the towels they provide, but they will give you fresh ones when you need. It is very close to South Cape Beach and Mashpee Commons. I wish we knew about this place years ago. I enjoyed every minute here over our 4th of July holiday and I would stay here again at any time of the year. Thank you for one of the nicest stays I have ever had...
Read moreWe used RCI timeshare exchange for this vacation. The units were spacious and private, with a lot of land space around the condo, including barbecues and benches. Unfortunately, there was some construction going on behind the area, which caused some noise pollution. Additionally, my complaint is that the resort does not provide beach passes. The timeshare is located near a neighborhood that claims their beach as part of their HOA. When we inquired at the front desk, they informed us that we had to go to city hall to obtain a beach pass for the week. It's worth noting that we arrived on a Saturday, so we couldn't go to the beach until Monday without paying a daily fee of $40. Another major inconvenience in the unit was the fire alarm that would get triggered every time someone used the shower. The first time it happened, we thought something was wrong and, since it was after hours, we had to call the...
